this is entrapment
SHOUT OUT TO EVERYONE WHO STILL TRIES TO GET BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS AFTER DEPRESSION HIT THEM HARD. THERE ISN’T ENOUGH RECOGNITION FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO KNOW THAT THEY’RE GOING TO LOSE INTEREST AND MOTIVATION AGAIN BUT PUSH THEMSELVES TO DO STUFF ANYWAYS. YOU ARE FIGHTING A DAILY BATTLE WITH YOUR OWN THOUGHTS AND YOU’RE STILL COMING OUT ON TOP, YOU’RE ALL BRAVE AS FUCK
I would fight a fucking army for Syd and maybe it’s because Carmy allowed the others to act like trash. Or that she put up with so much bullshit trying to implement his brigade. Or, despite being tiny, she doesn’t back down from anyone and inserts herself into disputes to de-escalate even if they’re teetering on violence.
Because it’s something so fascinating about one of the smallest people in the kitchen not backing down to tall, aggressive men. When Richie was in her face and episode 7 and she got this crazy look in her eyes like she was with the shits and would take him on.
Or how she just spoke her mind to Carmy as she was quitting and wasn’t afraid or stuttering and hedging her words. Just straight up told this man he was a piece of shit.
And how she got into those mobsters faces and made them introduce themselves and didn’t use violence to de-escalate.
She also talks in this unique way where she’s constantly trying to talk to people in a calm, approachable way, but it’s laced with this frankness like when she was telling Sweeps the floor was so dirty she could slip. Or telling Tina she didn’t have time to fuck around.
But she’s also vulnerable and is trying her best and does everything in her power to make sure things run smoothly.
And my response to her i so visceral because I relate so much to her. I’ve been that person at times. And it’s often a position black girls and woman are put into in work and life. We have to know how to navigate situations all while keeping or cool or standing up for ourselves because we only have ourselves.
So, yes, Syd can fuck up in my book and not apologize. She can say he daughter thinks he’s a fucking loser, and then stab him.
Syd has done more in the handful of months she’s worked than however long Richie has been employed at his “delicate fucking ecosystem.” Which is only delicate because of whatever was going on with Micheal and Richie sure as hell doesn’t know how to run a business.
Because even if Syd did something wrong, no she didn’t.
And, as much as I love Carmy, I don’t give a shit that she didn’t apologize for the kitchen kerfuffle.
where are all the other people who think that greg is just a human worm 🪱
When someone uses Reader instead of Y/N and for some messed up reason you miss it.
I am not American but I relate to the sentiment.
Being an American right now is so fucked up. Like hi I'm living my life. I'm gay. I'm doing great. My government is trying to take away my human rights. I can vote but it might not do anything because of gerrymandering. Sometimes people here deliberately spread deadly viruses because Freedom. We're told this is the best country in the world. I can't escape. I don't want to leave. I want to escape. I love the land itself. The government is like five steps from actively trying to kill me. We have brand new lawmakers who better understand the will of the people. The highest court in the nation is rigged to side with fascists. I'm graduating soon and I have an incredible life ahead of me. My planet is dying.
What the hell do I even do, man

the fact that they actually put so much effort into the details of The Bear actually makes me want to go eat glass--it's so good it's so subtle.
The fact that Richie only ever wears trackpants, "The Beef" merch, and one (1) leather jacket throughout the ENTIRE show, the fact that Carmy and Sydney wear the same brand of clogs, the fact that Richie and Carmy smoke the same kinds of cigarettes the fact that Sydney and Carmy both have the single digit passwords on their phone the fact that Marcus is constantly wearing teh same clothes bc he's sleeping at the restaurant the fact that Carmy owns one (1) jacket and hat aside from his work uniform.
The fact that richie clearly has the money for better clothes (that perfectly tailored suit during the date) but that the only other character (I can remember) that wears exclusively The Beef merch was Mike. The fact that COVID is brought up as being a rough enough time that Richie had to start dealing coke in the alley to make ends meet the fact that Carmy's apartment is filled with cookbooks and that Sydney's favorite meal was made by Carmy and that Carmy calls everyone Chef because that's a French Laundry concept (you don't use sir, or ma'am, you use "Chef" while working in the kitchen--even for the dishwashers--because you are working together in a ktichen and every member of the staff no matter how insignificant seeming is vital to your food production).
The fact that both Carmy and Syd eat Marcus' doughnuts off the floor and silently clearly enjoy them and that it's not even barely brought up just shown to us--or the fact that Carmy's apology to Sydney and Marcus is clearly such a struggle for him but he grits his teeth and they both understand that and appreciate it without a word and he respects the fact that they're still upset with him and that it's deserved.
It's the clear love for cooks vs chefs, the fact that the staff of the Beef have to learn to work with Carmy and Syd's strategies but that Carmy and Syd also have to take pages from them, the fact that all these characters are assholes but taht each of them have reasons and are completely understandable if you just look a little deeper just--
ITS REALLY GOOD OK??
