An interesting element I don’t often see in Batfamily fics is that Wayne Manor in all likelihood was built to accommodate an extensive staff and while Alfred may or may not be the only live-in employee in modern times (depending on canon) there are dozens of rooms and even an entire wing of the house that were historically devoted to feeding, housing, and employing many different types of people in order to maintain a grand estate 24/7. Carriage houses out back with old living quarters above what used to be horse stalls. Endless rickety, narrow servants’ staircases hidden alongside and behind the main, grander staircases. Bells and switches attached throughout the house to alert staff of changes. Pipes to the maids’ rooms in the attic that have to be turned off in winter because of disuse. Secondary kitchens and butler’s pantries.

That’s why Alfred being the only servant left (or one of only a few) is so important. He’s one man in an entire empty wing.

When I read a fic or smau containing teenage characters and crack-

It’s weird.

“They’re ages up so it’s fine”

…Your technically still writing abt teens having sex-

Mostly, it’s just suggestive themes. It usually isn’t said aloud but still. I’ve seen fics of teenage anime boys fucking y/n. They’re all ‘aged up’ but you can’t deny that it’s strange.

Just because these people are fictional doesn’t mean it’s ok. Just because you change a character’s age doesn’t change that the character is a minor.

If fics of teenage characters are made, they should be limited to (2nd) second base. Overall, writing about teens shouldn’t be like writing smut.

No. Some do have sex. But others don’t. All teens shouldn’t. The consensual age is usually 16-19 but ethically it should be 21.

Sometimes, I wonder if I even write because I want to. Sometimes it feels like I write because when people compliment my writing, it makes me feel validated. Over time, I’ve realized external validation can’t compare to internal approval. I’m working on it but I’m doing better now.
