Someone on twitter reminded me that even though to Fit he thinks they’re dating, to Pac, a brazilian, no they’re not. They’re "ficando" (hooking up), "saindo" (going out) at best, but not "namorando" (dating). Basically, they’re in a formal and committed situationship, but not even that if they didn’t talk about being exclusive. To us, going on one or even multiple dates doesn't mean anything. For them to officially be boyfriends, one of them needs to propose a relationship with a promise ring (pedido de namoro). This is why Cellbit wears a ring even though him and Lorena are not married or engaged, it’s an "anel de namoro".

So feel free to use this miscommunication in all your angsty fics :)

as much as we all joke about being tired of the "slow burn" and wanting fitpac to just fucking kiss already i still think it's pretty beautiful that these two men who have both come from backgrounds where they were never really afforded enough safety or trust to take things slowly or gently are able to find that in each other.

Like, Fit spent a decade on 2b2t where you can't trust anyone or even be friendly with them for more than a few minutes, there's no room in a place like that for a relationship to develop naturally. The most you get is a maybe a quick adrenaline-fueled hookup once in awhile, no one is giving you roses or inviting you on adventuring dates or falling asleep with their head on your shoulder when things get too loud.

And Pac grew up having to be the one constantly looking out for himself and Mike, did all these elaborate heists that had to be fast paced and secretive and the only person he could ever really truly trust was his partner in crime. I doubt he's ever had someone blushing and stuttering over him, let alone looking out for his safety and promising to protect him as if he was actually worth the effort. The closest he's probably gotten to someone treating him like he's precious was Cell and that..... yeah.

Its just. they're both used to things being fast paced and violent and distrustful you know? so it's really sweet that they trust each other and care about each other enough to take "baby steps" and flirt awkwardly and go on silly little dates and leave things ambiguous and unlabeled even if literally everyone knows what they are, the amount of unwavering faith that takes for both of them is HUGE and i think that's my favorite thing about their relationship

I honestly don't think qFit will ever confess, at least VERBALLY, to loving qPac. Wanna know why?

He needs to keep the wiggle room. He needs to still be able to escape with his heart intact if everything falls apart. I think qFit plans an escape route for everything, including his relationships. I don't think he even does it consciously, but no matter how much he loves something, no matter how sure he is that he'll stay this time, he ALWAYS needs a way out. It's just part of his nature.

By holding his tongue and keeping his confession to himself, he can keep qPac at a comfortable distance. Maybe 'baby steps' isn't so much about taking things slow out of caution. They're to stall himself. Keep himself away.

If he confesses, that's it. He's locked in. He'll be too attached. And if he's too attached, and everything goes to hell (Everything goes to hell eventually, in Fit's mind), he'll be dragged down with the ship.

And he can't have that. He's FitMC! Renowned 2b historian! Decade long survivalist! Veteran warrior! The Scourge of Summermelon! He WILL survive. He always does.

He wants it. Subconsciously, he wants to be that close to someone so bad. He's great with 'acquaintance', 'friend' he can manage, but 'boyfriend' is just too personal. Too binding. Too permanent.

If he can just keep it up, Pac will be happy, and he won't even have to get too close, right?

If he can just keep it up, he'll be happy, finally.

Right?
