"Well are you a [controversial identity] supporter???"

My friend I do not know what to tell you here. My rule is and remains "I don't care what you call yourself because your actions and who you are as a person is more valuable to me" and "as long as everyone in the situation is an adult and is giving enthusiastic consent I genuinely do not give a fuck what you do" and "words are stupid and people are complicated so it doesn't matter if The Words Are Wrong as long as it makes you happy"

I'm a longer tables not higher walls kind of guy. Have a seat. Break bread with me. Tell me a story over dinner. I think that'll be better for the both of us.

Look.

Look.

I have made you a chart. A very simple chart.

People say "You have to draw the line somewhere, and Biden has crossed it-" and my response is "Trump has crossed way more lines than Biden".

These categories are based off of actual policy enacted by both of these men while they were in office.

If the ONLY LINE YOU CARE ABOUT is line 12, you have an incredible amount of privilege, AND YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT PALESTINIANS. You obviously have nothing to fear from a Trump presidency, and you do not give a fuck if a ceasefire actually occurs. You are obviously fine if your queer, disabled, and marginalized loved ones are hurt. You clearly don't care about the status of American democracy, which Trump has openly stated he plans to destroy on day 1 he is in office.

Some comments on that last post about libraries have reminded me:

Many libraries and librarians consider it to be best practices to, if possible, not disclose a user's library records to anyone, even if the user is a minor and the person requesting information on them is a parent. This is not always possible; in the U.S., for example, individual states have different library confidentiality statutes, and school libraries are governed by federal law which generally permits parental review of records.*

If you are a minor or are in an high-control relationship, and you are considering whether you can safely use a library to search for resources or information you do not want your parent/abuser to know about:

Ask your librarian about their disclosure/privacy/confidentiality policy & laws (and if you are a minor, how it may apply to you). Ask if it may be different for print vs. digital vs. online materials. Ask them to help you double check your account and make sure you haven't given anyone else access (e.g. if you attach someone else's phone number to your account, the library may call them about books you have put on hold).

And good luck. <3

*The American Library Association has links to all the applicable state laws here, if you want to look up your state.

You are still you, even when you’re going through a difficult time. Even when other people have expectations that they think your aren’t meeting. You are allowed to have struggles. You are allowed to make mistakes. The you that has struggles and the you that makes mistakes IS the real you.

I'm really fucking angry & have been sitting with this for a few days.

Why is nobody talking about the fact that 215 children's bodies were discovered in Canada, all killed in Kamloops Indian Residential School?

the last Residential School was closed in the fucking 80s, but I've heard fellow native people say it's 1996.

closed in the 1980s-90s.

that wasn't long ago.

I'm crying as I write this and my blood is boiling, nobody is fucking talking about these poor babies who were ripped from their families and MURDERED!!!

nobody outside of Canada fucking talks about this. I'm so sick of it. There's so much violence towards native people, and nobody gives a shit.

They're ripping through our land as I speak, and our Prime Minister is at the center of it!

his statement towards the discovery of these children is to call this a "shameful chapter of our country's history" BUT HEY, JUSTIN??? the chapter ain't fucking done, you sick monster!!

there are 40 year olds who are still alive, who were survivors of the residential schools!!!

I'm so disgusted. I'm so done. I'm so, so disappointed in this awful country.
