Be Free!!

It's frustrating that so many people buy pet inverts without doing any kind of research about their care beforehand and they end up with a totally inappropriate habitat, diet, and/or general care.

Bugs are animals! If you're going to keep them, please learn about them from multiple sources before buying them. Reddit subs are an especially good source. Avoid pet store care sheets, as they are often deeply wrong.

Also depending on the species, initial setup can cost quite a bit, relatively speaking! If you can't afford an appropriate habitat, then you can't afford to keep the animal as a pet. It's not okay to give them an inappropriate or bare-bones setup because that's all you can afford. Save up and do it right from the get-go.

There's a lot of bad information out there on invert and exotic care, and we're always learning more. It's okay if you did do research, but you were given bad advice. Just be open to new and better information and make the necessary changes.

this unlocked a memory I forgot I had

i understand why and how it happened but that era where people were trying to teach kids to use keyboards in the same rigid, methodical way that adults had to learn it as it became more commonplace was. so fucking bizarre. like those stupid quizzes and games and timed typing challenges, where if you deviated even slightly from the Correct Hand Position and Which Fingers Can Touch Which Key you were considered to be failing even if it had the same effect. to anyone even slightly older or younger i probably sound insane but i assure you this was a thing

the problem with gamification is that websites never implement it right. absolutely nobody wants a trophy for making 1000 posts. instead when one of your posts gets a lot of notes you should earn a rare collectible item you can trade with other users. and when someone's post is really obnoxious you should get to call in a boss raid and if enough people join in and deplete the post's health bar then it should get permanently wiped from the servers
