Notice that Hawks takes off his mask before he starts saying something truthful/outside of his role. Everything he said until this point was part of his façade.
And it's notable that the first genuine dialogue Hawks has is that he doesn't admire All Might. Not all hero characters in BNHA had All Might as their main inspiration, but until this point there wasn't a single hero character to say anything like "I never wanted to be like [All Might]". Endeavor was not the exception. He may not have liked All Might personally, but it was primarily due to envy. Endeavor wanted to be like All Might in that he wanted to be number one and the strongest.
It's interesting that the takeaways from Hawks' introductory chapter are that he's duplicitous, ambitious, and doesn't like All Might. His introduction unsettled the status quo of the story until this point because Act One revolved around All Might the Symbol of Peace and Number One Hero. But Hawks is established as a top hero character outside of All Might's orbit with ambiguous intentions.
I just think hawks would sleep a little ugly

Can we talk about how the shadow looks like Hawks is behind bars, and the crack on the wall behind him looks kind of like Twice's head, complete with an eye crying????
pause. the Shigaraki-Rapunzel parallel specifically in the context of AFO making his hair grow long and luscious just because he can and then stealing his freedom and his body. Then his long white hair being cut and turning back to black, signifying Tenko regaining his autonomy and getting a fresh start.
I've been thinking again about the meaning of Shouto's and Touya's birthdays. What if Shouto's birthday is 111 because it's like the winning combo on a slot machine (getting three ones is a particularly good sign in light of Endeavor's aim to raise a son to be No 1) and Touya's birthday is 118 because he's only "almost perfect"?
And then I did some further research, and sure enough, the in the 18 in Touya's birthday the kanji for 1: 一 (ichi) and 8: 八 (hachi) can be found in the following Japanese gambling phrase:
一か八か = ichi ka bachi ka, “one or nothing”, or literally “one or punishment” - i.e.: a high risk gamble or something like "go for broke".
As in the phrase:
一いちか八ばちかやってみよう。
Ichikabachika yatte miyō.
I’ll take my chances.
So now I'm 99% convinced that Shouto's and Touya's birthdays are a refence to Endeavor gambling with the kids as if they were prizes in a pachinko slot machines / was playing child gacha?
