As someone who has multiple Calvin and Hobbes books, this just makes me love them even more. You done good, Bill. You done good.

I thinks folks expressing incredulity at the quality of the writing and composition in Calvin and Hobbes are often missing the context that Bill Watterson is arguably the most influential sequential artist of his generation. Like, this is a guy who once told the editors of nationally syndicated newspapers to go fuck themselves when they wanted to mess with his panel layouts, and not only did he keep his job, he got his way. He could have had literally any gig he wanted, and he chose to be the Sunday funnies guy because that's what made him happy. He's basically the Weird Al of sequential art.

Oooh yessss. And I just know that it would be the kind of guilt too that once it's entered your mind, no matter how much you try to wave it away, it 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘴. And even if you think you'll be distracted enough from it if you just do this or that, it claws into your stomach, sliding in like some alien entity and raises hell. Meanwhile you are just trying to keep the smile on your face, all the while trying your damndest not to break down. For Twilight to break, I don't think it'll be death by a thousand cuts. I think that it'll be something big that happens. Because there isn't much that surprises him or sways him. It just comes with being a top spy. So I think it'll have to be something really big that finally cracks the facade.

In short, I want this man deep fried in guilt 😀👌

i think there should come a point when yor has had enough of yuri's nagging about loid and says something like "HE MAKES ME HAPPY YURI"

after which point yuri slowly and begrudgingly begins to see the value loid has brought to yor's life, and even if he is still snippy and overprotective, he begins to open up the slightest bit. eventually during a 1:1 conversation he admits to loid that he's only overly critical bc he can't bear the thought of someone hurting the person who gave up everything for him, etc etc

and THAT is when loid feels real guilt for the first time. we already know from passing thoughts that he plans to leave the forgers after the mission is over, and sometimes he has his reservations and moments of 'i'm a hypocrite', but this is when he's truly like shit. Shit. I finally won yuri over but it was better when he hated me because i do not deserve to have this kid telling me that i am worth his sister because i'm not. he was right, i am just gonna hurt her all over again.
