I missed them
I have seen many people critique how Donna Tartt ends novels, particularly The Secret History and The Goldfinch.
But the thing is, you’re being told snippets, moments and memories of a person’s life - it’s not a story that can end fully resolved or mysteriously. Tartt writes about someone who might exist, a character so realistic that it’s unbelievable how complex they are.
That isn’t a story you can end, not in any satisfying way, it only ends when there isn’t much left to say.

Donna Tartt really put her whole Tarttussy in The Goldfinch
These lil nerds have been running around my brain for literal months. I love and care for them so much
donna tartt’s representation of theo and boris’s hearts make me insane. boris’s heart is popchyk, which theo took on his journey to new york. theo’s heart is the goldfinch which stayed with boris in vegas when theo left. they quite literally stole eachother’s hearts.
after the timeskip, boris reunites with popchyk, his heart that theo holds forever. then, theo reunites with the goldfinch, a part of him that he shares with boris just like boris sharing his heart with theo.

In a better world the muppets would have been treated so much like actual actors that they wouldn’t have been owned by any brand but would have their own individual careers playing roles in various movies regardless of whether they are “muppet movies.” Just any random guy in any random movie could have been kermit like it’s no big deal.
