The thing about woodpeckers tongue wrapping around their head is that it helps them when they bang their head against the tree a thousand times. If I remember correctly it works as a cushion to protect from brain injury. I would like a concussion proof skull please
I always assumed boats were used for hauling cargo like large loads of fish or whale pieces. Keeping sharks away from them and maybe adding a top to keep the birds off
OK HEAR ME OUT:
it's cannon that dragons wear glasses, but, like, what about seawings? Obviously you can't wear glasses underwater. Do you think they have like- some super cool special glasses??? I don't think it was ever mentioned in the series, nor do we meet a seawing with glasses.
WELL, WHAT IF:
That's why boats exist! It is cannon that boats exist and are used by seawings. Maybe seawings who can't swim large distances underwater because they need glasses sail instead? IDK IT SEEMS COOL
BUT TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK I'M KINDA STUPID
Had to draw this.
Due to the three tribes distinct genetic traits, some features override others. Appearing mostly Rainwing, Tuna is lanky and colorful. Both Sandwing and Seawing attributes made them more spiny and added a sail which snakes down their back, stopping before the tail. They have limited color changeing abilities, almost all dark colors they change to are more blue than black, and lighter colors always carry a yellow tint.
As for glow scales
They aren't specific to designated scales like they are for Seawings. Rather certain scales glow the brightest and are surrounded by a smattering of smaller and seemingly randomly placed scales.
@cindle-the-candle
I hope you enjoy them. I made them a little gender ambiguous so you could choose. Feel free to change any details you like.
Hypothetically, according to wof and real life stuff, you would mix a sandwing, rainwing, and sea wing, and name it tuna. or even like- any of those 3 mixed- A tun can be a fish or a catcus fruit. Idk, 1:32 am thoughts ig...I'm claiming tuna, the sea-rain-sand hybrid as my oc now. dunno if i should draw em (Considering i'm not great at dragons) but y'know, maybe.
Queen Coral and Princess Anemone
Your art is amazing. Because of you I have found so many new fandoms to look into. You draw humans so well and I dream of being able to someday reach your skill level
One thing I both love and hate about my art is that my art is so clearly Just For Me. It’s a style that I like, it’s featuring characters that I like…
The upside is that I am always surrounded by art of things I love
The downside is that very few other people see it the same way and that’s frustrating, bc I feel like it’s lovable, bc I love it (until I don’t) and I think a lot of other people could too if they gave it a chance
Stupid little frog came across my dash.
I will cherish hom
Please take good care of them!
I like this, this is cool
voila, my big fancy pyrrhia climate map, using the köppen climate types! behind this map is several other maps of wind direction, ocean currents, seasonal temperatures... if you'd like to see them let me know :]
I think the wofblr community would enjoy this,
Some fan made book covers I modeled as a mockup, hoping I can try to make one or two of them!! Darkstalkers is my favourite and I will definitely be trying to make one or two to give to tui at the fanwing fest if i end up going.
A few details: any books with either an animus protag or is heavily influenced by animus magic have plated talon prints instead of a darker leather, moons has the silver teardrop, and each book has a small Roman numeral on the top of the spine. The seawing protags also have webbed talon prints.
I would also like to post drawings of the British twink. However I have only drawn dragons and I can't fathom how to draw human faces.
Do you have any tips? I'd love to expand the fandom a bit.
im absolutely unHINGED i WILL in fact carry this entire fandom on my back if i have to since im the only one in it anyway
(not even a generic google search brought up anything, like is this fandom THAT fresh omg)
Love your art! What's your shading process / any tips? I really like how vibrant it is
Thank you!! also sorry this is a long post
I usually start painting the character after I already have a background, super sketchy or with a placeholder (a photo usually), just so i know what colors to use
I fill the character with a color from the BG or a similar color and use the multiply blending mode
then i paint the lights on another layer with the "add glow" blending mode (i also pick the color depending on the bg).
I add another multiply layer for anything that needs to be darker, like stuff under the characters clothes
I paint a line with a saturated color between the lights and shadows, for example i added a bright red for the cape and light purple for their skin (? this is subsurface scattering, it doesnt happen on every surface but i like how it looks so i use it on everything lol.
Then i paint the lineart a similar color to each part of the character or you can paint it all red and use multiply
that's basically it
some tips (these are just things that work for me)
I think is better to paint the lights, not the shadows. it helps to see the shapes of the thing/character you're drawing better (its what i did with lambert ⬆️)
Draw backgrounds, i think it makes every drawing look more interesting and its easier to decide the lighting for the character, if you dont want to draw anything detailed you can paint something simple and blur it
i really recommend to start with a thumbnail, experiment with colors, perspective, composition, etc. before actually starting the drawing thumbnails of this post
this tip is something that everyone has heard before but use references, real life references like photographs for perspective and lighting, 3d models for anatomy and perspective, paintings to see how other artists stylize objects, bgs or characters. use references for everything
this tip is super important for me: check the values of your drawing, (lower the saturation, with the lineart hidden) if it isnt readable/ doesnt look good in black and white it most likely wont look good with colors (this depends on artstyle and personal preference tho)
My first attempt at a Hivewing.
This is actually an old WIP that I actually managed to finish, so yay!
I was attempting to imitate the gig wasp, and fortunately the colors seem to work.
I like Wings of Fire and Cult of The Lamb. I like to animate and I'm still struggling to find my own art style
