World Building Checklist

Have you ever started writing a story and realized your world has a bunch of unexplained shit and you have to fill in the gaps as you go? Me too, buddy. Me too. Here’s a checklist so that you can fully flesh out your world to the max. (I’m dying)

How does Time work? (Minutes, hours, days, the daylight cycle, years, ect.)

Species (if Fantasy. Will probably make another post on this.)

Countries, Nations, Tribes, ect. (nationalities/ races. Will probably make another post on this.)

The geography of the world (draw a map. Doesnt have to be good. Just for a general idea.)

Rivalries between races (includes prejudice, racism, ect.)

Religions

Technology

The Magic system. (Will probably make a whole other post on this.)

animals, plants, ect.

The sky: Sun, Moon(s), Stars, Constellation, Are there rings? (If the planet has rings)

Educations system

Government system

Politics

Methods of transport (Vehicles)

Medicine

I decided to try to sort my ideas and whats canon regarding my ocs with this and ITS PERFECT. IT ALL FEELS SO CONRETE. and i sure as hell AM Going to continue to use this with every single OC I have until google drives is set ablaze- Just!!!!!!!!

Cult of the lamb sketch I've been working on. Considering making a comic however my computer is broken, so I can only use my pencil.

I'm not good at making both sides look the same so I only draw on one side, and when I want to make it digital I can use the mirror feature.

Got a lil sketchy near the end around the cat skull as I was being attacked by a stupid baby

Very silly

Liked this OC so I drew it. I just really like the idea of a dragonet having absorbed their twin being able to live a fairly normal life despite their differences

I also wanted to experiment with simplistic background designs and funny textures.

Another stinker!! I made Scorch and then fell in love with the idea of branching tails.

Tokay doesn’t have a mutation like he does, she absorbed her twin in her egg and now has a mini wing, a branching tail, and a spare left horn just above her ear! None of these have ever bothered her and the scales change color just fine.

She’s like most other Rainwings, rather unadventurous and enjoying her sun time, but she’s very smart and cares deeply for her tribe.

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
