An unfortunate byproduct of the ever-growing ease of access to conversion technology is its inevitable misuse.

A particularly rare instances it is used in kidnapping and ransom. High profile targets are whisked away and held captive under threat of conversion using black market SmartLatex kits. If the ransom is unpaid on time the subjects friends and family typically receive, instead of their loved one, a blank drone ready for programming. In rarer cases a partial conversion will be left behind, driven half mad by the intense sensations coursing through its body.
