Chinese Opera Masks (visual development)
The Little Donkey without a Tail. As you can tell, I've been looking at a lot of Eyvind Earle and Mary Blair lately.
I had an idea (which happens sometimes in the middle of something entirely different that you're supposed to be doing) and I wanted to explore it right away. I wanted to do retro cassette tapes (because who doesn't love those awesome shapes?). As fruit (because who doesn't love the colours of watermelon?). And this little project was born. I don't know where it's going yet. I only have a vague inclination in my mind where I would like it to end up. It is crying out for texture, so I'll probably add that next. Comments welcome! :)
Little Viet, by Claire O’Brien
It’s weird, it seems that when you run up against a problem, you always think it’s because “oh I’m not good enough”. But- it’s not that, it’s just that you’ve kind of hit the limit of your knowledge, and you’ve got to go out and observe and get and find and discover and nothing more. Those are really great, those are the best times- when you feel like you stink and you can’t get it- that’s like, man, now the world is open and you’re ready to learn something new and you gotta go, you gotta take advantage of that.
