✨When Sunflowers change to Green Carnations info✨

» Colin's full name is Colin Gryngrasse! (Yes I know it's weird) The Gryngrasses were a rich aristocrat family.

» Lewis's full name is Lewis Percival Peverell (Oh look, even weirder).

» Colin used to be married to Eloise Harton, but turns out they're both stuck in a lavender marriage (basically, a lavender marriage is when two non-straight individuals of the opposite gender was married off to each other in order to protect their reputation or other reasons) so they split up.

» Lewis is a doctor with quite a good reputation. He treated a lot of upper class people, including Colin Gryngrasse.

» Lewis also became Colin's confidant after Colin accidentally told too much to him. He was able to gain his trust, and never told anyone.

» Colin is a poet, an actor, and a wine connoisseur (wow so random)

» I originally intended Eloise to be the antagonist, but I was like, nah

» Lewis's middle name was originally William

Edit: sometimes there's only one non-straight individual in a lavender marriage while the other is straight!

A Museum Date, Part 1

(Author's note: there's a slight mention of period typical homophobia on the 8th paragraph)

Today, me and Tori are going on a museum date. We both wore our favourite outfits. We arrived at 11 am.

"Hey, what if we check that new section over there, Al?" Tori pointed to an exhibit with a sign that says "Violet Wreaths and Green Carnations".

"Sounds good." She held my hand and led me. Turns out, the new exhibit is about same-sex relationships in history.

There were lots of photographs, paintings, written records, you know, things you'll see at most museum exhibits.

"Allie, there's the original draft of that play you were talking about that day !"

"Really? Let's see it, then!"

We looked at the said script, carefully displayed inside a glass box. There's a sign beneath it.

«This is the original script of the play "The Knight And The Elven Bard" by Claus Chasterell. The Rosenhart Theatre refused to perform this version of the script because of its "depiction of unacceptable behavior"(this play depicted romance between two men), saying that it would ruin the public's impression of both Chasterell and the theatre itself. Chasterell then revised it, changing the terms of endearment Alois (the knight) and Albion (the bard) used to refer each other with to platonic terms such as friend, dear companion, etc. He also changed the kiss scene in the epilogue to a warm embrace. But even with the changes, the playwright's true intentions are still recognizable.»

Then, right beside the script was a letter. The sign beneath it said:

«This letter was found by Claudia Izabel Carper on her sixth great-granduncle's house, on the main bedchamber, to be exact. The identity of the sender is unknown, as he (the sender stated he was a man, although not explicitly) used an alias, Victor. But, the handwriting seemed quite similar to the handwriting of the famous poet Claus Chasterell. The recipient is only addressed as "My Beloved", but because of the location this letter was found on, it's safe to say that the recipient was Ms.Carper's sixth great-granduncle.»

"Wait, so your sixth great-grandfather...," Tori whispered. "He liked men too?" We both said in union.

After a long silence, I shrugged. "Well, maybe he does, but, I think it's better to do more research after this date is over, don't you think so, babe?"

Tori nods. "Yeah, I guess so, sweetie."

(A/N: I'll try to finish the second part as soon as possible)

Hello, my dear followers B)

Some time ago, I said that Cosette's birthday was on 18th February, and that it was a reference to a historical fact, right?

Well, in case you wanted to know, then search for 18th February 1784 on google (that date's definitely not someone's false birthdate aha). You might found someone's portrait 😳 (definitely not someone familiar to all of you aha)

Beans, My Beloved (Aloisia's POV)

I woke up. It seems like there's been a heavy rain last night. Raindrops were still visible on my window. I went out to check if any of my flowers were affected. Thankfully, they're quite alright.

"Meow!"

I searched for the source of the sound. A cat was hiding in a bush. I picked him up.

He's not hurt, but his white and black fur was wet. I took him in and dried his fur. I noticed something: his toe beans are pink in one paw and black on the other.

"Aloisia, what are you doing?" Mum suddenly appeared behind me. She saw the cat. "Oh, how cute! Too bad I'm allergic to cat fur, so he can't stay here.."

"Mum, I found him in a bush in the garden. He was hiding from the storm. I don't want him to get affected by the storm again..."

Mum sighed. "Fine, you can keep him. Just.. make sure there's no furs and you don't bring him near me, okay?"

I smiled. "Okay!" I carried the cat to my room. He laid down. "What should I call you, kitty?" He then stretched, showing his toe beans again.

I nodded. "I guess I'll call you Beans."

Hot take but if your organization has bioessentialism as one of its core ideologies then it could never really be intersectional.

Here's the explanation of Louisette's novel title:

I read somewhere that sunflowers symbolizes friendship, and in the late 19th century, a lot of mlm men (in this context, men-loving-men, not multi level marketing) wore green carnation in the lapel of their coats as a subtle hint that they love other men. The two main characters ( the widower and the confidant ) were both male, so that's why she chose that title. Also, in these short stories, people were much more accepting.

The internet archive is under attack

https://twitter.com/internetarchive/status/1545437753873244161?s=21&t=U7BfkxZAswPfBBOWQQ_qeA

1/3 As most of you know, we are currently facing a lawsuit brought by 4 corporate publishers who want to stop the Internet Archive from lending books. #EmpoweringLibraries

— Internet Archive (@internetarchive) July 8, 2022

https://twitter.com/camwoodstock/status/1546196167788298240?s=21&t=U7BfkxZAswPfBBOWQQ_qeA

You can easily donate to the Internet Archive at https://t.co/zvVoZ6Rfun. Please do that if you have the money, and if you don't, at least spread the words.

Don't let greedy publishers and hack writers like Chuck Wendig erase over a quarter of a decade of internet resources.

The internet archive is so important it’s sooo important to archive digital data to preserve it if you can throw a couple of dollars their way to support them then please do so. Don’t let greedy people and individuals take away the internet archive!
