“but there’s beauty standards for men too! men are punished for not being masculine!” yeah but men’s natural bodies are considered masculine. and women’s natural bodies are considered masculine. not shaving on a man is masculine, and not shaving on a woman is also masculine. do you see the difference? men are discouraged from performing extra beauty rituals whereas women are discouraged from being their natural selves. women are expected to perform rituals to comply with societal gender roles whereas men are expected to be their natural selves.

That really got me. The amount of time, money, and energy women spend on their periods throughout their lives is not funny. It’s not cool.

The embarrassment we are made to feel about a biological process is not funny. Shopping for period products is made to be embarrassing. That’s not funny.

It’s not funny when you bleed through your pants and everyone makes it a problem. Or when the school nurse shames you for needing to ask for a pad again. Or when you go shopping with your dad and he has you go get the “woman stuff” on your own because it makes him uncomfortable. Or when he starts treating you different since you’re a woman now. Or when you’re encouraged to shove chemicals in your vagina so it’ll smell like flowers. Or when you’re slut shamed for using tampons. Or when you’re hygiene shamed for using pads. Or when cramps are physically debilitating. Or when that physical pain is mentally debilitating.

The list goes on and on. And none of it is funny.

Men are a problem! This is why female only spaces are important.

But how many of these women would allow males in female only spaces if they used she/her or they/them pronouns?

The cognitive dissonance from this side of Twitter never ceases to amaze me.
