I've talked a lot about how I wish we lived in a world where children weren't assigned a gender other than "child" at birth and are given a temporary name they can keep or change whenever they please as they age and they can decide based on their own life and upbringing what gender they feel like if any gender at all

And this is my perspective as an intersex person and an autistic person with a strong drive for autonomy

And I've gotten the weirdest pushback, as if this would ever actually happen. But the biggest critique I get is "well I WANT to have an assigned gender otherwise I wouldn't be who I am today" like yeah no shit, neither would I

Yall can't remove yourself from the bigger picture for a second and use your imaginations? Yall can't imagine a better system than the one we live under? The binary gender and sex system that harms and kills? The fact that it's not usually cis people who say this shit. Usually cis people just don't even understand how "child" could be a placeholder for a gender and don't engage in the convo lmao or just call me slurs and go away

Assigned genders hurt many people but yall straight up don't wanna hear intersex perspectives on what else we could be doing as humans

the thing is like. i get that it's scary and makes people who do desire to get pregnant uncomfortable when we talk about the brutality and violence of pregnancy and the damage that pregnancy can do to your body

but you deserve to give informed consent to that process.

the lies around pregnancy - that it's inherently safe, that it doesn't do you permanent damage, that it's only extremely rare for people to die of pregnancy complications, etc like

all of these are lies constructed so that more people will get pregnant w/o knowing all that

there needs to be more talk about the impact of miscarriages and how common they are, how different abortion processes are and how accessible they are

but also like. talking about how pregnancy fucks your body up should not be taboo

this is a process that permanently changes most people's bodies, and that's even if the pregnancy doesn't do them like. severe illness or injury

and i just think everybody should have a right to KNOW that

bc to live in a society that intentionally obscures and hides facts about a completely optional and dangerous process does so for a reason, and that reason is based in a very sinister ideology that does not value bodily autonomy or informed consent

Some class 1-H headcanons for peace of mind:

Hanabusa watches nature documentaries to calm down.

Endomoto really likes trains and railways of all kinds

Hanabusa makes his own tea leaves. Endomoto likes to help harvest them. Hanabusa enjoys the company.

The entire class let a bunch of slinkies loose down the stairs, but Power Loader covered for them, saying that it was for "experimental purposes"

Hatsume isn't the only reason why Power Loader has a few more gray hairs since the start of the year.

Bushida really hates sudden loud noises.

It reminds him too much of when he lost his leg.

This puts a tiny strain on his and Hatsume's friendship at first, but Hatsume tries to tone down the noise, and eventually, Bushida gets used to it.

Daguchi knits, and when he concentrates, he stays awake for hours, just steadily knitting.

Tucker likes lavender ice cream.

Chinen's parents are divorced, and she hasn't seen her mother in a very long time.

Chinen and Hatsume did not get along for a good chunk of their first year, mainly due to creative/personality differences.

Despite Tucker's quiet and shy nature, she really likes dressing pastel colours.

Endomoto had a crush on Chinen around the beginning of first year, but ultimately realised that he likes her better as a friend.

Daguchi, Tucker, Hatsume, and Hanabusa are the sarcasm team of class 1-H

Chinen, Endomoto, and Bushida are the "Kill 'em with kindness" trio

They're a very tight-knit group; mainly because they're a small class.

When Endomoto isn't concentrating, sometimes little puffs of steam escape from his mouth.

Hatsume goes to Hanabusa and Tucker to get her locs retwisted.

Chinen has a horrible vendetta against pomegranates. Nobody knows why, and they're afraid to ask.

Hanabusa is very close with his grandmother. In contrast, Chinen is very close to her grandfather.

Hatsume's eyes glow in the dark. She has scared everyone in her class at least once, just by sitting in the dark kitchen of the dorms.

Their heights go from this order (tallest to shortest):

Bushida, Hanabusa, Tucker, Daguchi, Endomoto, Hatsume, Chinen.

Daguchi tends to lean on people a lot. Taller or shorter, it doesn't matter.

Endomoto cannot tie his tie properly, and it drives Daguchi insane.

He has a bit of a baby face

Tucker gestures with her hands a lot when she speaks.

It's very difficult to tell when Tucker and Hanabusa are joking.

Bushida is pretty tall and intimidating, but he has the personality of a golden retriever.

Out of all the students, Daguchi has the most connections to the upperclassmen, which everyone else is mystified with.

They have all called Power Loader "Dad" on purpose at least once.
