Just for ONCE, I’d love to see a story about an canon autistic character who is COMPLEX.

Who is autistic and more.

Whose personality is rich and fun and whose autism doesn’t other them, but actually shapes them.

I want autism seen in women, and people of color, and to see how culture shapes the subtle nuances of someone on the spectrum.

I want an autistic person with friends.

I want queer aspies, and autistic working professionals, whose asd actually helps instead of hindering their work ethic.

Autistics who are funny—and I DO NOT mean funny by default because they’re socially inept. I mean actually genuinely funny. I mean goofing off, cracking jokes, being the class clown.

I want to see aspies who have more than one special interest, and whose interests aren’t science and nature related.

I want girls who weren’t diagnosed until 17 or 20, and who still question it because girls are conditioned to silence their symptoms and socially adjust.

I want autistic people who are actually like me.

I want autistic PEOPLE.

Does anyone else with ADHD get told “stop speaking so loud!” Or “Lower the volume!” “Quieten down!” Etc… when you just think you’re talking normally… like when you’re desperately trying to jam the words togther in your head so you can speak normally and then you just get told “be quiet… you’re talking too loud… turn it down…” and it’s not meant with any animosity BUT you just get this horrible sinking feeling in your stomach and you can physically feel yourself deflate… Like I can’t even articulate it it just sucks uno…

Things they don’t tell you about special ed kids: they’re probably being that “disruptive” or “reclusive” because the sped teachers literally abuse them and no one gives a fuck. (It’s literally legal for sped teachers to abuse their students because it’s considered part of the special ed therapy.)

When I was in middle school, I was in a special ed program called “Social Thinking”, which was supposedly for teaching social skills, but really what it taught was “You have to act like a normal (neurotypical) person and only ever do ‘expected behavior’, or everyone will hate you and think you’re annoying. You have to always keep up this facade no matter how exhausting it is. If you don’t do that and just be yourself, your friends would be happier without you.”

Some highlights from that special ed class:

The teacher told me, to my face, that all my teachers hated me and thought I was annoying and stupid, and that this was because I blurted out in class.

They literally went to my friends behind my back and told my friends to stop listening and walk away from me anytime I started “monologuing” aka rambling about the things I’m interested in. (My best friends decided not to do that, because they knew how awful the teachers were.)

One of my best friends was also in that sped program, and one year she was in the same “class” for it as I was. I cried in that class a lot, but she cried even more than I did. She also had breakdowns (as did I) and was suicidal sometimes. I distinctly remember one time when she said “Just give me the scissors, I’ll do it right now!”. She was TWELVE at the time.

The teacher would frequently grab my chin and turn my head towards her, forcing me to make eye contact. She also told my parents to require me to make eye contact before allowing me to do fun things, and to force eye contact like that if I didn’t want to. (And, unfortunately, they did.) Even now, almost five years later, I still flinch when anyone comes close to touching my face.

I’m pretty sure I got some form of ptsd from all the horrible in that special ed therapy, but I can’t get it diagnosed because even the possibility of having to talk to any sort of therapist makes me have severe panic attacks. :^) lifes a bitch like that.

TLDR: special ed teachers were super abusive and no one gave a shit because it was supposedly part of the therapy.

Different types of fairies

Not all are listed, only a few, there are far too many...

Brownies

They’re the most helpful, they help with chores and around the house.

They expect a food offering

Never offer money, they consider this poor taste and they will mess up your house.

Pixies

They’re mischievous and can be dangerous.

They play tricks, especially on travelers.

They’re known to lead people into bogs and swamps. (It’s not uncommon for someone to get caught in quick sand and die)

Leprechauns

Solitary

They don’t venture into places with humans.

Dwarves

German folklore

Ugly and extremely strong.

They’re friendly unless offended, then they may become harmful.

They’re proud of their craftsmanship-> furniture and iron work.

Watch your manners around them.

Elves

Scandinavians brought their tales to the English isles during the Viking conquest.

There are two kinds-

dark and light.

They have magical powers to enchant people.

They move between their world and ours.

Changeling

Spoke about them in previous post.

Fauns

They have horns on their head, a human torso and they’re goat below the waist.

Live in the Woodland Forrest’s.

They’re alluring, seductive and compelling.

They can prey on their victims by using mind control and magic conjured from their pipes or flute.

Elves say that if you see one try to avert your eyes because once they’ve got your attention, you’re under their control.

They’re neutral creatures but they can be dangerous.

Gnomes

They’re shy and cautious.

They seek only the company of their own kind.

They’re extremely short- maybe 9 inches.

They can be master healers.

They’re found in the most isolated areas.

Hobgoblins

Solitary

Dark brown creature.

Lives in Forrest’s in trees.

They’re neutral and keep to themselves.

Not aggressive unless provoked.

It may be best to leave them alone.
