Just some thoughts about Jacob
Is it weird for me to say that I don't think Jacob grew up with male socialisation as much as the average man his age would?
By all accounts, Jacob has been raised by women and the most important people in his life have been women. Sure he has male friends, but the majority of his life have been women, mostly gender nonconforming women who don't adhere to the traditional gender roles.
We can chalk up his insistence to not do chores as simple teenage laziness rather than male socialisation, other than that, there has been NO INDICATION that Jacob is inherently misogynistic.
So it's really weird how people just loathe him for no reason.
and sorry its bugging me, but blaire is very much clearly not written to be a strawman. shes written to be sympathetic and have depth even if shes wrong. its one of the things many leasebound commentors have really liked because it adds tension to the story and is far more accurate to real life and gives more credence to the authors arguments since shes not shadow boxing a cardboard cut out of an oponent
no, she is
That's her intention, but I'll give it to rusty that she's actually a good girlfriend at times.
Which is weird considering we're supposed to be rooting for her and Riley to break up.
THANK YOU MICAH!!!!!
Requiem Adam is making its grand debut ! Comic made with love and passion by our amazing @derkuningas
Cw: almost complete nudity , strong language
The story telling trough show is really amazing , we see the emptiness in his gaze then we are gradually exposed to his environment and the people around him , we are not thrown into the unfamiliar harshly and that from my humble opinion is showing a great understanding of her interpretation of story telling
She knows how she wants to tell us her story and she show it well
That panel is perhaps a little too quickly to my liking but it's a great shock as well leaving us hanging for what's coming , its also not in our face , leaving place for explanation when the time will come and simply showing us that it's there to be shown and explored
I like that the premises of the story is told trough a TV broadcast , its such an interesting way of telling indirectly to the viewer what's going on
Again she knows how story telling works and put what's she learn to great use
The character designs are creative and don't suffer from same face syndrome nor do they lack
The guy is shown naked and from a character design wise we understand very quickly that he is a shell , we are gonna grow and learn with him he is our vessel to understand this world
Our girl is dressed "breaking" fashion rules, she wears a skirt , leggings , a big poofy jacket she has a tooth gap , she is unconventional by design amd is flawed , she's arguably the most human of the cast so far because she is shown out of a mold that exist (see panel 3 picture on the wall) her sharp hairstyle can also indicate her sharp personality bringing us to even further analyse her
For our broadcasting lady she is shown tall and strong in a serious pose her haircut covering half her face leading us to understand she likely only says half truths or hides a lot she wears black long dress expressing her strong feminity yet she is in power , she's the one controlling what information people get
Im sorry there's not much more i can say for now except go read it , its worth it and stay on the edge of your seat because the story is coming and you definitely won't regret it 🫶🫶
they'd be the best lb couple aside from jaden and blaire
they love eachother your honor

There are girls calling me ragebaiters already for just asking for proof that they're qualified to hate with as much vitriol as they do. XOXO.
Still wild that people got mad at a woman for punching another woman in a "who can punch" harder contest. Goes to show how much the world is against female athletes.

It's still insane to me how Rusty was capable of writing a real world scenario in which a black butch woman (or just a black woman period) would be targeted by transvestigation just for being butch and black, and yet somebow Rusty thought it was completely realistic and truthful to life that it's trans allies who transvestigate, not transphobes
Ah yes
Somebody who supports trans people is 100% more likely to transvestigate somebody and invalidate their identity even if they're a cisgender woman, totally not the group of people who had a brown woman in the Olympics under a internet firing squad because she dared to be too good at boxing, and therein it meant she had to secretly be a man because how dare she hurt the little feeble white princess she was put up against.
Coda's right; Josie isn't a boy mom.
Josie simply does younger sibling syndrome and tends to baby Jacob. I won't be surprised if you factor in her trauma too, and see her as sort of "giving a better life" to her late husband, who Jacob is named after.
In fact: Jacob's kind of messed up AS WELL as Jaden.
Even if Jacob wasn't parentified and made to basically raise himself (Jaden did that for him), Jacob was born right after his father died and even named after him. He's then said to look like his dad.
That's...kinda scary. I'd be scared if I were me. It's like some ghost I don't even know is following me, and everyone can see it, but they won't save me from it if it tries to engulf me.
Honestly, considering Leasebound is supposedly meant to be about strong and "well-written" female characters, and does so with the motherly characters within the story, I feel like a missed opportunity would be touching upon THOSE kinds of "boy moms".
I'm not talking about favoritism, like Josie with Jaden and Jacob, I mean...
Those moms on tiktok who post videos talking about how their sons are their entire world, and if their sons weren't their sons they'd be DATING them, meanwhile they avoid talking about their daughters like the plague, act like having a daughter is some sort of curse or punishment, the ones who view their daughters as "competition" because they envy their daughters youth or see their daughters as trying to "steal" the attention from their husbands, and make it obvious that they'd happily throw their daughters under a bus for their son. THOSE kinds of boy moms.
But knowing Rusty and how she handles a lot of heavy topics in her work, she'd probably write something like this in all the wrong ways. Especially considering this would force her to have to actually write a female character who's actually flawed if not downright a horrible person, and the closest she can seem to get to writing an "evil" female character is a woman with dyed hair and pronouns and a homophobic Christian mom.
what are your thoughts on controversial figure, greg heffley
used to like him back when I had no reading comprehension.
now I think he needs to be jailed for his war crimes
