Envy

A beast that burns

Through the skin

Searing flesh and tendon.

Snapping bone as it threatens to escape.

It creates boils

That others do not see

Oozing puss 

That burns with ferocity.

There is no cure.

You cannot be saved.

Once you are trapped,

In Envy’s Cage.

I could fix him. I could make him worse. Good for you. I could gently take the weapon out of his shaking, blood-soaked hand and hold him until he finally believes that he doesn't have to be defined by all the ways the world has hurt him. Then we could ruin the lives of everyone who has ever treated him like he's a monster who doesn't deserve love.

Okay but monsters that don’t tower over you. Monsters that are human sized, maybe even short. Monsters that could still kill you, rip you to shreds, and crush you with their bare hands/paws/tentacles/coils/whatever, but there’s no way they’re more than 5’ 5’. They can grab you, still pick you up and lift you, toss you around like you weigh nothing, but when they do their best to fit into your human world, people underestimate them.

They have to be careful because you’re tall by their species standards so you ought to be stronger. They have to keep reminding themselves that you’re only a human. Sometimes they leave deep bruises, or bite down a little too hard. Their claws leaving bloody streaks that you wince when you have to clean and bandage. They apologize though and do their best to make it up to you.

pirates of the caribbean really introduced an eldritch octopus man who kills indiscriminately and torments the dead as their poster villain and then you watch the movies and it's like, "oh no, actually the worst villain in this series is a small white british man who functions as the herald of capitalism" and that was very very brave of them
