Hello! I’m trying to make a pilot of my own to submit to a studio to make a show. Problem is.. I can’t draw, let alone animate, and I’m broke. But I want to make an animated show from the bottom of my heart. What would you recommend is the best way to pitch a show and find volunteers to make a pilot?
Most pitches just start as loglines, scripts, or concepts if that helps. Just play to your strengths. Long answer ahead
This is one of the number one things I always tell students when they're making a portfolio and also why I didn't fully animate my pilot. I've had so many folks who are trying to get into storyboarding show me animatics from their portfolio that they edited themselves. Unless it's an action scene with very specific timing, or if the artist is also a skilled editor, I'd rather just click through a PDF. If the editing is bad, I'm gonna be distracted by the editing and not view the board properly. It takes away from the actual skill you're trying to showcase. Showing more often creates more room for error and makes your weaknesses much clearer.
I'm not a great animator and I knew that if I tried, it wouldn't come out the way I wanted and all the inevitable errors would have been distracting (it also would have taken FOREVER and would be expensive if I tried hiring other folks to help me with it). But I know that I'm good at storyboarding so I stuck with that.
All this to say, you don't need to create an animated pilot to pitch. There are so many different ways to pitch and get your idea out there. In most cases the pilot is made in development if the studio likes your idea anyways. If you truly have no money, just use the skills you have at your disposal. Unless you're 1000% sure that a fully animated will help your chances and that you can find other people with the skillset to execute it, I wouldn't do it.
But if you DO really want to do it, ask artist friends or people you trust to help out. Most of the people I worked with for my pilot were friends who, even though I offered to pay, helped pro bono. If you don't have artist friends, you can post open casting calls on socials, but make sure to be super up front about it being unpaid work, COMMUNICATE, and also write contracts. If you're working with strangers, having a set agreement that states that you will be using their work to pitch will help you avoid potential legal issues in the future.
That's my 2 cents! A fully animated pilot is a 2+ year commitment AT LEAST (if you're lucky). I'd just do what you're good at and fill in the gaps when you actually get a development deal
(OLDER WORK REPOSTED) So I actually just got a new tablet and I am really struggling with the learning curve so all my art looks like shit rn, have this angst comic I made like a year ago instead lol I never ended up making the happier ending part 2 to this... maybe I will get around to it soon?
do care + did ask + im hugging you + im hugging you + im hugging you + im hugging you + im hugging you
Anne and Sasha really didn’t hold Marcy back yeah she could have been the youngest college grad but she doesn’t seem to care the finale makes it seem like she didn’t even go to college and is just an artist she doesn’t care about school like op said she didn’t try even if she went to college early she probably wouldn’t be stressed but she probably wouldn’t be happy. There is also the problem of her having a d in gym which would have probably been a problem.
I just realized something. We know that Marcy’s one of if not the smartest character in Amphibia. She gets straight A’s without even trying, learns about other cultures because she got BORED and was interested in them, learned the basics of alchemy before she even met Maddie, studied amphibian biology, could hack into moderately secure areas like the PA system at SJMS, and beat the King of Amphibia in a game that she JUST figured out how to play after a while of living in the castle. Marcy’s gift of intelligence is an understatement. I mean, she easily could’ve skipped a couple grades and graduate early, but she didn’t. And that’s because of two people. Anne and Sasha! They… for a lack of better wording, they were holding her back. Marcy was so obsessed with the two of them, she genuinely can’t imagine a life without them in it, even when they constantly ignore and neglect her needs. Heck, I’m sure her parents even tried convincing her to move up a grade, but at the end of the day, Marcy would have the final say and she’d say no because she wanted to be with her BFFs. Which is awful in itself because nobody should sacrifice the possibility of great things happening to them for someone else! I’m fucking sure Marcy could’ve absolutely obliterated the World Record for youngest college grad if she really wanted to.
Marcy must be really gay if she’s willing to go that far for Anne and Sasha.

Can we still make and post Rise content until then? YES! As long as we flood the internet with as many posts as possible on August 16 and 17. Make sure to stockpile and then release all your posts into the wild!
What else can I do that would help Rise’s chances? Stream the movie and the show on those two days. Having the viewership suddenly increase on Paramount and Netflix would also greatly increase its chances! ALSO! Like and support as much Rise content/posts on that day! Every little bit counts! Even if you can’t draw, write, or create, you can ALWAYS like, reblog, retweet, and share!

I don’t know if this idea is stupid or absolutely beautiful but! What if the rottmnt community remakes the whole movie? I’ve seen all the scene redraws but I doubt this word will get around. If it did get around I would seriously do my best to organize it. If you like the idea reblog this and if you’re drawing a scene then make sure to start from the very first one. If this does end up becoming popular I’ll be making posts about what scenes have been taken. And yes I mean every scene even the funny stretched out ones. If this actually works out I would put all the stuff together! I would post it on yt under this account. To make this easier for me use my asks to say whether or not a scene is taken. I’ll update the posts every hour if possible.
