Fictober day 1

Prompt: "Can you feel this?"

Warnings: suggestions of past trauma, sex

His fingers gently traced the scar  below her belly, the scar from where life had been extracted form her so long ago. "Can you feel this?"

"No, I really can't."  That wasn't exactly true.  There were no nerve endings in scar tissue, but she could still feel the light of the life that had grown there.  She could still feel the urge to recoil from that long-hidden part of her history.  She could still feel a twinge of insecurity in letting him see, much less study, her disfigured torso.  But she knew he didn't see it that way.  What she saw as defects, he saw as pages in the story that was her; pages he relished reading again and again. 

She ran her fingers through his hair.  I really do love this man. The admission calmed her, somehow made her feel freer. 

He gazed up at her, mischief in his eyes, a playfully-wicked curl on his lips.  Her breath caught in her throat as his fingers slid downward.  "Can you feel this?"

I hope this is everyone else too!

All the people saying how pissed they are over players kneeling....Do you all stand during the anthem? Do you put down your beer and get up off the couch? Or is that level of effort only expended when you're in a crowd? Do you value freedom of speech and the right to peaceful protest? Would you be bitching if they were taking a knee in the name of fallen police officers, gun rights, or the need to build the fucking wall?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Maybe people are so upset with Nike because they know Nike spends millions on market research and still calculated that pissing off people who hate players kneeling was actually a smart business move.

And yet the voter turnout for women, minorities, and millennials of all genders/races is expected to be DOWN by 20-40% for the 2018 elections. Our apathy, as a nation, is our demise. Sure, it's hard to figure out/comply with the voting rules, especially for those who don't drive or move frequently...guess why that is? I guarantee it's not to ensure our democratic republic! Our only hope for this nation is of EVERYONE stands up and says ENOUGH!
