"He's gone."
Guys if y'all don't go read my buddy @theangrypomeranian 's fanfic Baby Steps, I'll come find you and read it aloud to you. It's soft and makes me feel safe. Hhhhhh
In Bob's Burgers, it's clear that Zeke has feelings for Tina. When they started is up for debate though. @tacosandtouchtanks proposes that Zeke started having a crush on Tina a little before the season 5 episode, "Friends with Burger-fits" the episode that implied he had a crush on her in the first place. I'm inclined to follow that line of thinking as well because I refuse to think Zeke realized he had a crush on Tina before the season 4 episode, "Presto Tina-O". Zeke was at his worst in that episode and it still makes me mad seeing Jimmy Jr and Zeke laugh at Tina's anger (a bunch of jerks both of them, I had so many moments of being belittled when I got angry so it cut me deep seeing a character I kin go through the same).
I believe the moment Zeke starts to see Tina differently is in the season 5 episode, "Tina and the Real Ghost". Instead of getting mad that Tina would prank them in an already scary cemetery, Zeke would be super impressed by her and laugh it off later about how good she got him and the rest. More than that, he could have also been touched by her speech. While he had a lot to process about his contribution to Jeff and how he desperately wanted to believe in an afterlife, there was also Tina's reason. It's possible he could have thought later on how sad it was that all this started because Tina wanted to feel like she deserved more attention than the dismissiveness Jimmy Jr. did. Zeke couldn't understand why Jay Ju was so flaky with Tina. Zeke knew JJ liked Tina, heck he even tried to help him win her back from Josh.
Sure, Tina was creepy at times, awkward, and a fuddy-duddy. Still, even a weirdo like Tina didn't deserve to be taken for granted like that. He would give anything to have a girl like Tina like him like she likes Jay-Ju. Wait what?! What was he saying? There was no way he had a crush on Tina. This is Tina he was talking about. Sure he helped her and her siblings out in the past but he would have done that for any of his friends. After that denial, his mind would begin to recontextualize every interaction he had with her in the past. Once he was done with that he would have opened his eyes to the truth and he would have said, "Oh crap, I do like her!" While he wasn't going to deny his feelings now, there wasn't much he could do about it as long as Tina and Jimmy Jr. had whatever they had going on. Zeke was never one to give in and be a quitter though. So for now, he will just be carrying his lavender-scented torch for Tina. He doesn't plan to keep his feelings hidden, but he also won't let his feelings dictate him to not pursue other options either. His metaphorical torch will always be lit at his bedside giving him hope for the future, but won't stop him from living his best life in the present.
Once he found out that night he had a crush on Tina he would have hoped that love would be like gas and pass very soon. Little did he know love was more like appendicitis. Later, Zeke would be fine with Tina doing whatever she needed to do to figure herself out because he was confident about who would be the one to come out on top in the end. One way or another he was going to get her. One thing is for certain is that Zeke would be sure to make more of an effort to pay attention to Tina after the Jeff incident and it shows in Oeder Games. XD
I love the parallels here! Like Teddy, I could also see Tina nearly self-sabotaging a perfectly good relationship with Zeke because she has been so used to being in unhealthy relationships, like with Jimmy Jr for example. She's not used to being in a healthy, stable relationship without fear of future drama that she would begin to overthink ways she could screw it up with Zeke.
Though, as long as Tina doesn't cower away from talking about her fears with Zeke, I believe Zeke is able to work it out with her. She learns that love, like cooking, doesn't need to have it always on full-blast heat. Sometimes you need to have it on low heat for it to be done right. Sure, it may be boring sometimes having to wait for it, but in the end, the results turn out more beautiful than they would have if you tried to always cook at a passionately high temperature. Zeke would definitely be full of surprises, but he won't always be the most romantic or artistic as Tina would hope for. However, what Zeke would provide is worth more than any romantic gesture, the security to be fully herself without the fear of abandonment. So she realizes she loves the slow-cook romance she has with Zeke over the highly intense heat she hoped for in her fantasies. Zeke won't always be as romantic as Tina would hope for but he will always be her port in a storm and she'll realize that is something she wants more than a passionate, drama-filled romance. Also, I can see Tina calling Zeke and saying, "Hi Zeke, it's Tina from dating." That was my highlight quote from that episode XD
The love triangle situation between Teddy, Helen and Kathleen is weirdly similar to… Tina, Jimmy Jr and Zeke?!
-Both believe in things like fate and cosmic forces -Have a tendency to daydream, concocting wild and at times bizarre fantasies about those they fancy -Have personality traits that can be A Little Much for some people -Forget about personal boundaries when worked up -Are socially awkward and bad at reading the room -Cling to things they treasure -Wear blue -Have names that start with T See, look at that mountain of intersecting attributes!!
Like Jimmy Jr, Helen is tall, blonde, conventionally attractive, and comfortable financially. She is nice to Teddy in varying degrees, sometimes sweet and playful, sometimes awful. The deciding factor in her niceness seems to be how useful Teddy can be to her in the moment, much like JJr only approaching Tina when it suits him especially well. Teddy is endlessly smitten with the beautiful but two-faced Helen, much as Tina is with JJR’s perfect bottom.
Kathleen on the other hand is a bit more on the average side with her stout figure and brown hair. Sound familiar? She also has an accent, is a bit sloppy, less than wealthy, knows her way around a joke, enjoys a bit of sports… Although she’s far more subdued, the similarities to Zeke are definitely there! And like Zeke, she’s also quite a nice person person overall - tentatively offering to share her food with the Belcher kids and showing concern for Teddy’s well being despite not knowing him very well.
Ever the romantic (like Teddy!!) Tina picks up on their chemistry right away, and insists that Teddy doesn’t need a rich beautiful princess, but just a nice lady that fits him right. Now if only she could apply that to herself…
Along with the mirrored triangles themselves, there are some other fun things to note regarding the general episodes in which developments are made.
For instance, Season 5 is when we first meet Helen. Season 5 also contains some interesting episodes for Tina and Zeke’s dynamic, such as Midday Run and The Oeder Games. Then in Season 9 we meet Kathleen, and get great episodes such as UFO No You Didn’t and Yes Without My Zeke. While it’s less substantial, I just find it interesting that the episodes containing key moments in Teddy’s love life were released alongside episodes involving Tina’s love life. Come Season 10 Helen is out of the picture, and Teddy is revealed to be seeing Kathleen more frequently in All That Gene. And now in Season 13, the relationship has progressed to steady dating, where Kathleen is asking Teddy out on long day trips. Pretty intimate! I wish them nothing but happiness.
Now, I don’t think Teddy’s switch from a hopeless crush on Helen to a happy, healthy relationship with Kathleen is intended to be a hint towards Tina’s future… but if the writers were hinting at something then I would have nothing but respect for them!!
So um, since I decided it be really interesting to ship Flips with my BB oc, Willow I thought it would be fun to list some headcanons. The more I can develop his character, the better it is for hypothetical shipping art. So here we go! 1. Flips Whitefudge's is not his legal name, only his rapper name. His legal name is Philip J. (James) van Tripp
2. He's 29 going on 30 soon. Hip hop became his and his mother's whole thing when he was 11 1/2 years old. 3. His favorite snack is white chocolate covered pretzels (big shocker I know!)
4. Flips lives with his mother until his dancing and/or rapping career takes off. He's not a complete slacker though and does try to help around the house when he's not completely distracted with his hip hop aspirations (which is admittingly almost all the time).
5. He's desperate for dance battles during his mom's hip hop classes because any time he's tried to enter a dance battle on the streets, no one takes him seriously.
6. Whitefudge was originally an insult from his younger years that made fun of his cringy attempts at being street that Flips reworked to being part of his identity in a positive way.
7. Even though hip hop dancing is his main passion, he also dabbles in beatboxing, rap battles, and is a graffiti appreciator.
8. Shelly is a single parent and got her son and herself deeply invested in hip hop 18 1/2 years ago as a trauma response to Flips' father leaving them (can't decide if I want it to be abandonment or death though). That's right, I'm making the cringy humor of Shelly and Flips linked to angst. Why can't I let just things not be that deep?! 9. "Malibu's Most Wanted" is Flips' favorite so-bad-it's-good, guilty pleasure movie to watch every now and then. He will deny any resemblance to him and the main character though. (Any time I see Flips I think of that movie even though I haven't seen it in years. So I might as well connect it to him.) XD
10. Shelly and Flips love watching "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and "Living Single" together. (Full disclosure, I never seen "Living Single" I just picked 90s sitcoms that were centered around a hiphop/rap artists. I love Fresh Prince though.) In general, their tv majority of the time stays on the BET channel or MTV (though they still mourn the lack of music videos on the channel). 11. Shelly bans Flips from practicing any breakdancing moves that involves his head being upside down to avoid potential neck breaking. She will lift the ban when she sees her son be able to do other intense break dancing moves without literally breaking anything. 12. Flips often thinks about joining Jairo's capoeira classes to help improve his hip hop/break dancing skills but has yet to have fully commit and finally join.
13. Flips and Shelly are one of those people that unironically dab, unfortunately. 14. Flips tried to be a disc jockey a few times in his life but he never got passed doing more than small events like school dances. 15. Despite appearing confident and charming, Flips is not so great at the dating game. Most potential partners find him way too extroverted or too focused on hip hop that it's basically his only character trait, which makes him annoying. He tries not to let it get to him though because he likes himself and that's all that matters. Someday someone will be able to handle all of him, he hopes so anyway. Okay, that's all the headcanons I can think of for him so far. I hope you find them amusing or potentially useful. Maybe I'll edit this post later to add more headcanons. Only time will tell. Thank you to all who read my ramblings. lol
Since the booping has returned, reblog if it's okay to spam you with boops!
I wanna be polite and not spam random people without permission , ,
Craig Bartlett will be having an Ask Me Anything on April 2nd at 3 e/t on reddit!!
This is super indulgent territory for my Zekina art. Yes, it's more indulgent than the wedding pic for some reason. XD I made this purely for the flowers. I had these flowers made since the wedding picture but decided to scrap it because what I ended up doing was cuter than Tina holding flowers.
I worked hard on the flowers and didn't want them to go to waste, so I reused them for this
I also wanted to put Tina in a cute dress that would contrast Zeke's suit. This is why I originally did the poll post. The post ended up being for nothing though because I ended up using a combination of Peggy Sis's and Chariot's colors from the Equestranauts, sorry. Cowards are the people who don't draw Zeke with his underbite!/j I like to think Zeke said "surprise" the way he did in the mad pooper episode because I think it's funny and cute. Hope you Zekina shippers like what I brought to the table. I'm just glad the flowers didn't go to waste.
I'm very intrigued by this title and the synopsis. It sounds like it's going to be another Belcher kids tell stories episode. I really hope that we get to see aged-up versions of the kids, even if it's only hypothetical. I so want to know if I was struck by Apollo's prophecy dodgeball or was way off in their designs! XD Either way, I never expected to get an aged-up Belcher kids episode this fast! Then again, I only just recently got into the show while older fans have been waiting way longer. Though I don't want to hold my breath because I still could be wrong about where the episode will be going. Heck I could be right and still not get the kids aged up and they'll still have their child bodies but with their dream jobs in their hypotheticals because it's funny. XD I really want to see them aged up in the maybe stories, so they better not take that away from me if I'm right. lol
So I've been trying to mark off all the episodes that Zeke sits to the left of Tina in class ever since I really started noticing it in season 13. First I'll list what I found so far and then I'll get into the headcanon surrounding it. Disclaimer, I'm only human and I'm not aware of all the episodes that show Zeke and Tina in class together. I'm just only going by the BB wiki that lists the times Zeke appeared in a season and my own memory of whether the episode contained a classroom scene or not. In short, this post might get edited as time goes on if I find new frames by accident I can add.
So now onto screenshots. I'm not going to bother with chronological order because I don't want to. The most interesting one I found so far is "Pig Trouble in Little Tina". Before Tina enters into her nightmare we see Zeke to her left. After she wakes up from her nightmare, Zeke is gone.
What the heck is that all about? Why insert Zeke in only to make him disappear? My side headcanon is that Zeke went to the bathroom (or skipped class, either is possible) while Tina was sleeping because if Zeke was there he would have been the only one to ask if she was alright. They needed the scene to move along asap so they had to get rid of him because of it. XD
The next one isn't in Miss Jacobson's class but still shows the Zeke being to Tina's left pattern.
In "Bob and Deliver" their placement is obvious because it is to show that Tina will see Zeke as a rival in the episode. Also, it's simply easier for the audience to follow along with the conversation if they are next to each other. Next is "The Hormone-iums". The placement of Jimmy Jr., Tina, and Zeke is also for plot reasons. For some reason, Zeke isn't in the last one of the row like he usually is while Jimmy Jr. isn't in front of Zeke. The boys needed to be in those places though to show Tina's nervousness when she watches Tammy slanders her.
Still, even if the chair arrangements have changed, Zeke is still to Tina's left. Now for "Crystal Mess". While the placements of the characters are for plot relevance, it's also the closest to sticking with the current sitting arrangements of the characters. The outlier is Tammy since Jocelyn is more often than not in front of Tina from the other frames I found.
"Touch of (Eval)ulations"
"Cheaty Cheaty Bang Bang"
"These Boots are Made for Stalking"
Now that I got all the scenes out of the way (as far as I know because there are a lot of episodes with Zeke in them), I can get to the point of this post. Since to Tina's left is the window, I headcanon that Tina daydreams and looks out of that window a lot. Even if Miss Jacobson is the one that assigns the seats for the students and it's not up to the students, I headcanon that Zeke specifically wants to be to Tina's left over her right because of the window. Anytime Zeke glances over at Tina for a second while she's daydreaming directly at the window, he likes to pretend for a moment that Tina is looking at him. He knows the window is getting all of Tina's attention, but it's still a nice thought that keeps him going for the rest of the time in Miss Jacobson's class. That's it for the headcanon. It's not much, but it's cute and I like it. X3
