In February of 1982 my folks and I went to helping my ailing uncle with his property that sat between Elmira NY and Ithaca. I was 14 at the time going on 15. Lots of wooded area at the time in the area. The small chicken farm we were on was encircled with woods. We were there for several months. One day my mom sent me to the store to get some milk and stuff. There was snow on the ground and the streets were just icy. It was bitter cold. That's kind of cold that bites at your bones and if you take in a deep breath it stung. The second way to get to the store outside of walking the winding roads was to cross through a wooded area and a couple of fields. I liked taking this route because I always saw deer and other wildlife.
I got all the way to the country store and was heading back. In the one field there was some old cut and abandoned trees scattered around and shattered limbs no one wanted to pick up. The ground was covered with snow and there were tracks about from deer, raccoons, rabbits and whatever else. Just animal tracks that cut cross the field. I stopped to lean against one fallen tree to warm my hands, blowing on them. The truck of this fallen pine was long, about 30' long. I was at the one end of it just leaning and doing all I could to warm up.
Just then the tree trunk started to rock and then roll. I jumped back and turned about. Thats when I saw. A hairy TALL, human figure. One ran was extended out and up, holding a thick limb of the tree and the creature was looking under where the trunk was.
I was scared so badly I started to urinate in my jeans which was rolling down my legs into my fleece lined boots. And I was tearing up for fear it was going to attack me. It was no more than 20 feet from me at the other end of the fallen tree trunk. It just kept that tree truck rolled back enough to see what was under there. I think he was looking for a rodent or something to eat. But he was holding it with one hand. Had he let go, the trunk would have moved back in place. I am not math wise when it comes to size and weight comparison but figure a trunk that was 20 foot long and about 4' in diameter. It was an old trunk and rotting but it was still heavy. I know I could not move it. If what I was looking at was a man in a suit looking to scaring me from crossing the field, he would have had to have sat for hours, if not days attaching hair to his skin. The wind was blowing and so I saw skin under the layers of hair. There were skin blemishes where there was no hair. I guess like pimples or warts or something like that. Its eyes were yellowish and pupils were dark, like brown. The hair varied in length around its body and head. On its face and neck it was very short and sparce. If this was someone in a suit, they did extensive research on how hair would lay throughout the body. Also his toes moved individually in the snow with tendons or veins that were moving under his skin. So, if this was someone in a suit, he was walking around barefoot with huge feet. Not wearing fake boots. I have seen people wearing monkey ape suits in movies and at Halloween. And this was NOTHING at all like that.
I am not sure if I made a noise or not but it looked at me. Then looked back under the tree. It was more curious what was under the tree. I have no idea how long I stood there just staring. Then there was a noise from across the field that startled me and when I looked there were two others along the tree line walking. They were much too far to make out details. Just two ash-brown hairy human figures walking along the tree line. Walking just like a person would but the snow was no hamperment at all for them. They never went down on all four and one even reached out and moved part of a branch that was in his/her way like a hunter or hiker would. Bears do not do that. The one close to me stopped looking under the tree, let it roll back in place and just walked off into the trees that was to the left of where I was facing. The two in the back of the field, I have no what happen to them. My focus was on the one near me. When I gain some courage (a good 2 minutes of not moving) I slowly walked up to where it was standing before, wiping the tears from my face and saw its footprints in the snow. And they were almost twice the size of mine, which at the time was size 8-9. I stood there shaking for a bit till I felt it was safe. I did not run but walked fast till I got close enough to home where I felt safe to run. Then I bolted like a bat out of hell. I remember the terror I had in my heart and praying "Please don't come back" over and over.
Mom was angry and not believing a word I said. I also got a butt tanning from my father later on. I lost my gloves and the groceries, and my pants and boots were "stained" That's all my folks cared about. I kept saying it was a "hairy caveman." No one would believe me. I lived in fear for two months after that, for fear of running into them again and I never crossed the woods and fields again. I never heard of bigfoot or sasquatch or anything like that before. Years later I learned what I saw when I was working at the library back on Long Island and found a book on Bigfoot (The Big Foot Casebook). To date I still get nightmares if I dwell on the topic too long. Being I am an artist, I have tried to draw it/them countless of times and yet my renderings never come close. The closest depiction I have ever seen to what I saw was the costumed actors on the documentary "Manbeast: Man or legend" with Peter Byrne. Just taller and a bit more wide. I remember the first time I saw the special and the whole encounter came flooding back to me and the nightmares increased. Today I volunteer at the Woodland Park Zoo here in Seattle. I spend some time with the gorillas, siamangs, colobus, patas monkeys, orangs and other simians but I can state that what I saw was none of these species.
You win. This was INSANE to read. First, I’m really sorry your parents reacted that way. If my kid came home sobbing with pissed pants, I’d at least think something happened. That’s pretty old for a spanking, too. And the nightmares that followed? Have you tried trauma therapy? If this is triggering I’m really sorry, but it sounds a lot like the most famous picture of Bigfoot, patty. The photo is still not explainable, for reasons I do not know because I haven’t looked them up… I believe in Bigfoot 100%. My mom saw it in the woods in Missouri (and ran the hell away) and sometimes when I’m out in the woods on my ranger, I hear things. The other night I heard a huge noise in the woods. It could have been a cougar or a black bear, but it sounded a lot bigger. There are Sasquatch sightings in Missouri, as well as all around America. Is working with primates kind of therapeutic for you? I hope, and I’m sorry you had that experience, though it’s very valuable to have and share with the Sasquatch community.

The Aokigahara Forest is the most popular site for suicides in Japan. After the novel Kuroi Jukai was published, in which a young lover commits suicide in the forest, people started taking their own lives there at a rate of 50 to 100 deaths a year. The site holds so many bodies that the Yakuza pays homeless people to sneak into the forest and rob the corpses.

On the afternoon of June 13, 1981, a Japanese man named Issei Sagawa walked to the Bois de Boulogne, a park on the outskirts of Paris, carrying two suitcases. The contents of those suitcases, to the lament of a nearby jogger, was the dismembered body of a fellow student – a Dutch woman named Renée Hartevelt, whom Sagawa had shot three days prior and had spent the days since eating various parts of her body. This documentary highlights his life after the incident.

A dakhma (Persian: دخمه), also known as a Tower of Silence, is a circular, raised structure built by Zoroastrians for excarnation (that is, the exposure of human corpses to the elements for decomposition), in order to avert contamination of the soil and other natural elements by the dead bodies.Carrion birds, usually vultures and other scavengers, consume the flesh. Skeletal remains are gathered into a central pit where further weathering and continued breakdown occurs.

The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus was the biggest circus in the United States during the mid-20th century. Due to the country’s involvement in World War II, the circus began experiencing shortages of personnel and equipment.
Because of this the circus dealt with frequent malfunctions, on August 4, 1942, a fire had begun and it killed a number of the circus’ animals. On July 5, 1944, the circus made it’s way to Hartford, Connecticut, however the trains were late that day so one out of two shows had been cancelled for the day.
There is a common superstition among circus folk that when the circus misses a show, it’s bad luck, and because of this, many of the circus performers and employees were on edge during the one show that night. However, the show ran smoothly with no issues.
The next day on July 6, 1944, the crowd for the 2:15 pm circus show was mostly filled with women and their children. The exact number of people at the circus that day is unknown, but there has been an estimate of about 7,000 people.
The big top could seat 9,000 people around the three rings and it measured 200 feet wide by 450 feet long. The sidewalls were 15 feet high and the roof was 48 feet high. The tent’s canvas had been coated with 1,800 pounds of paraffin wax that was dissolved in 6,000 US gallons of gasoline. This was a common way for circus tents to remain waterproof at the time.
There was a main entrance to exit the tent along with 8 other small exits. It was later said that during the fire many of these smaller exits were blocked by circus wagons or other things which made it impossible for people to escape.
After the lions had performed a small flame had started on the southwest sidewall of the tent, during the Flying Wallendas performance. A bandleader named Merle Evans was believed to be the first person to notice the flames, and she directed the band to begin playing, “The Stars and Stripes Forever” which was a song that signaled distress to all circus personnel.
A ringmaster named Fred Bradna tried to get the audience to not panic and to exit the tent in an orderly fashion, however the fire had shorted out power, no one could hear him. Fred and an usher tried to put out flames with big water jugs that were in the tent, but to no avail so they began to help evacuate the panicked crowd.
There was almost no animals in the big top at the time the fire broke out, except for the big cats that were trained by May Kovar and Joseph Walsh. The cats were herded through the chutes to cage wagons and were unharmed, with some only experiencing a few minor burns.
Most people were able to escape the fire, however there was lots of hysteria happening. Some people claimed individuals were just running around in circles trying to find their loved ones instead of trying to escape the fire. Others initially escaped the fire, but ran back into the tent to look for loved ones. Some stayed in their seats thinking the fire would have been put out quickly. Some of the exits were blocked by chutes to get animals out.
The paraffin wax which had been used to waterproof the tent helped the flames spread extremely quickly, and the wind also did not help. Many people were burned from the melting paraffin wax which began to rain down from the roof.
The tent collapsed in 8 minutes according to witnesses, which trapped hundreds of people underneath it. In many newspapers there was a photo of a clown named Emmett Kelly holding a water bucket, naming the event “the day the clowns cried.”
Some burned to death while others died from the chaos. The true number of causalities is unknown but many believe it was between 167-169 people, with over 700 sustaining injuries. That is only the number of people who actually received or sought out treatment the day of, the number is believed to be higher as many people went home without seeing or doing anything about their injuries due to shock most likely.
The number of people who died is also believed to be higher as there was not great residency records in rural areas and many smaller remains were never truly identified or claimed. Free tickets were also given out that day to drifters who would not likely have been reported as missing by their families or friends.
Some people died from injuries they got from jumping from high areas to escape the bleachers, others were trampled to death in the crowds, some were asphyxiated under piles of people who fell over. Many dead bodies were found in piles by congested exits. Some people actually survived the fire by being underneath some of the piles of people.
Eunice Groark was among one of the survivors who later went on to be the first female lieutenant governor of Connecticut.
One of the most known victims from the fire was a young blonde little girl who wore a white dress. She became famously known as “Little Miss 1565″ which was the number assigned to her body. She was known to be extremely well preserved.
Little Miss 1565 was buried without a name in Hartford’s Northwood Cemetery and her identity has been a debate for many years. Despite her picture being displayed repeatedly in magazines she was never claimed.
In 1981, one of the police officers who spent years trying to identify her, his widow publicly announced that he had identified her and contacted her family but they requested no publicity on the matter.
In 1987, someone had left a note on the gravestone that read, “Sarah Graham is her name! 7-6-38 DOB, 6 years, Twin.” There were notes nearby on gravestones that said her twin brother and relatives were buried close.
In 1991, an arson investigator named Rick Davey claimed the little girl’s name was Eleanor Emily Cook in a book he published, and that she was from Massachusetts. The book also claimed Eleanor’s brother Donald Cook contacted police in 1955, believing that the girl was his sister but nothing further happened.
Donald, the brother, believes family members were shown the wrong body in the morgue due to all the confusion that day with numerous bodies being brought there. Donald worked alongside Davey to identify Little Miss 1565, and in 1991 she was identified as 8 year old Eleanor Emily Cook.
Eleanor’s aunt and uncle did not believe the body fit the description of Eleanor that they had provided after examining the body. Hair samples were compared and the consensus was that they had probably come from the same person. Her body was exhumed in 1991 and buried next to her brother, Edward, who had also died in the fire.
Various people do not believe Little Miss 1565 is Eleanor Emily Cook. Writer Stewart O’Nan who also published a book about the fire, states the obvious that the deceased girl who had been found had blonde hair, Eleanor was brunette, the shape of their faces are different, their heights and ages don’t match and their dental features don’t match.
Even Eleanor’s mother, Mildred Corintha Parsons Cook saw a photograph of Little Miss 1565 and did not believe that was her daughter. She believed it was not her daughter until her death in 1997. Mrs. Cook was unable to claim her two children and was so traumatized by the events she could not try to identify them later.
She was told Eleanor had not been in any of the locations where bodies were kept for identification. Her mother believed she had been burnt beyond recognition and was one of the victims who would always remain unidentified. O’Nan believes Eleanor may be body number 1503. Many believe it is likely that Eleanor was wrongly identified by another family and is buried under another child’s name.
What began the Hartford Circus fire in 1944 remains a mystery. Some investigators think it was started just from a flicked cigarette, while others believe someone purposely started it. In 1950, Robert Dale Segee, from Ohio, who was a 16 year old roustabout for the show from June 30 to July 14 confessed to starting the fire but was never tried and later recanted the confession. He claimed that he had a nightmare where an American Indian riding on a “flaming horse” told him to set fires.
Segee also claimed his mind went blank after this and by the time he came to, the fire had already started.
In November 1950, Segee was convicted in Ohio for unrelated arson charges and was sentenced to 44 years in prison. There were doubts over his confession as he had a history of mental illness and he could not be confirmed as being in Connecticut when the fire happened.
On July 7, 1944, 5 officials and employees of Ringling Bros were charged with involuntary manslaughter. Out of the five, four had been charged and sentenced to prison, though shortly after being convicted they were pardoned.
In 2002, the Hartford Circus Fire Memorial Foundation was established, and a permanent memorial to those killed in the fire was created.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey did actually go to Hartford during their final tour, with the final performance occurring on April 30, 2017.
In a chilling case reminiscent of the “Swedish Josef Fritzl,” Martin Trenneborg, a 38-year-old doctor, employed a horrifying plan to abduct and imprison a young woman. The ordeal began when he drugged her with strawberries laced with Rohypnol, rendering her unconscious.
Trenneborg then transported her to his residence, located near Kristianstad in southern Sweden, where he had constructed a dungeon. In an attempt to conceal his identity, he wore two different masks during the entire ordeal.
For a harrowing week, Trenneborg subjected his victim to repeated acts of rape while she remained captive in the dungeon. Disturbingly, investigations later uncovered his intention to keep her captive for up to ten years. However, his twisted scheme took an unexpected turn when he returned to her apartment to retrieve some of her belongings.
Upon witnessing the police conducting a search in the area, he panicked and brought the woman to a police station, where he concocted a false story about the events that had transpired. In his fabricated account, he claimed to have kidnapped her out of a sense of loneliness and a desire for a partner.
Following a thorough legal process, Trenneborg was ultimately sentenced to ten years in prison for his heinous crimes. The severity of the sentence reflects the gravity of his actions and the immense suffering he inflicted upon his victim during her horrifying ordeal.

Mysterious Death of Zigmund Adamski
One June 6th of 1980, Zigmund left his house to do some grocery shopping. When he didn’t return for a family wedding the next day, his family started to get worried.
His body was found five days later (June 11th) in Todmorden next to a railway line. Trevor Parker, son of the coal yard owner, made the gruesome discovery PC Alan Godfrey was sent to investigate. His body was found face down on top 12 foot high pile of anthracite. He was found without a shirt, the rest of his clothes seemed like they were put on him by someone who had very little idea of how to put them on (both his shoes and pants were put on incorrectly). Even though he had been missing for 5 days, he only had a single day of beard growth. His neck and shoulders also had burn marks on them and forensics found that some kind of strange ointment was applied to them though they could not identify it.
Dr Alan Edwards, the consulting pathologist at the Royal Halifax Infirmary, conducted the post-mortem examination in Hebden Bridge just after 9pm that day he was found. Dr Edwards’ professional judgment placed the time of death between 11am and 1pm on the day that Adamski was found, while the burns were two days old. The exact cause of death was a matter of such deliberation, that Adamski’s death took Coroner James Turnbull several months to register. It was ruled as a heart-attack.
PC Alan Godfrey didn’t believe that Zigmund died of a heart attack, he believed that Zigmund was abducted by aliens. Godfrey claimed that he himself had witnessed a UFO in Todmorden. He went to investigate what he thought was an overturned bus, but was shocked when he saw it hovering 5 feet above the ground. He claims that the next thing he remembers is being back in his patrol car driving off. He claims that he had similar burn marks and a strange green gel on his neck too. He was put under hypnosis and asked about his encounter. The 2nd picture is his sketch of the UFO and the aliens he had an encounter with. Godfrey stuck to his claims that Zigmund was abducted by aliens and dropped back after they used him for research.
Zigmund’s family believes it was a case of human abduction instead of alien abduction. They believe he was being held captive and died of a heart attack.

Cape Elizabeth is a small town in Maine, US, with a population of around 9,535 in 2020. Cape Elizabeth was known to be a desirable place to live, however, in 2005, the residents became terrified of an unidentified man who watched them as they slept.
In 2005, what was described as a young man began to sneak into people’s homes in the area, watching them sleep. The strange part was that this man would never break or steal anything from the homes, he didn’t attack or touch anyone, just simply watched them sleep.
Victims of the man who was dubbed “The Cape Intruder” or “Cape Trespasser” claimed they would wake up to find him standing over their beds, but he would flee the scene before they could catch him or even get a great look at him.
A police sketch of the man came out, and many believed he was in his 20′s. The police received several calls from various people claiming they believed to know who the Cape Intruder was. Two of the people who called in actually named the same man, but after a while the incidents stopped. One police officer said that everyone who called in seems to think the sketch looks like someone they know or have seen around.
While the Cape Intruder was active, a neighbourhood watch group would set up on Mitchell Road, where multiple houses had been targeted by the strange man.
The Cape Intruder was never caught, and the incidents stopped suddenly. The case remains unsolved.
