my contribution to the collective meltdown/copium pile is this:

ezra is actually working with the ascendancy on getting thrawn back from whatever he thinks he’s doing

by ascendancy i mean Eli, Ar’alani, Vah’nya and maybe Un’hee, with Thalias and Samakro running background support. hell, throw Borika in as well if you want to

Ezra and Thrawn actually learned to respect each other while they were stranded by the space whales

it’s why he hasn’t returned to lothal yet

thrawn has some twisted reasoning as to why he’s back working with the imperial remnant, like he must atone for something or his mission was not completed and the man is bullheaded single minded stubborn and must be stopped because he is incapable of stopping for himself

team chiss meets up with team ghost at some point and they exchange ideas sort things out manage to extract thrawn from the remnant and make him finally see the light

the real big bad was rae sloane all along bc that woman deserves to gaslight gatekeep girlboss to her heart’s content in live action as well. live action imperial remnant brass is looking testosterone poisoned currently

thranto is canon and so is ezrah’nya and kalluzeb. let’s give sabine a girlfriend too while we’re at it

idk i just wanna sit in a dark library at night in the candlelight wearing an oversized sweater and exchange glances over my book to my lover while the rain pours outside and feel at peace with the world

Chiss Officer: How...how many children do you have, sir?

Ba'kif tiredly: Biologically, emotionally, or legally?

Truth all✨✨✨

now that i am reading the thrawn: ascendancy books and seeing how fucking similar thrawn and eli are in some aspects - like scenes that are nearly mirrored down to the word - i love the thought of eli thinking he and thrawn have nothing in common, or that he could never be like him, bc he always just sees himself running after thrawn, just to come to the ascendancy and have everyone he meets be like “oh my fucking god there are two of you fuckers”

[Blackmail!] No. Business.

layout 1 + layout 2

Sketchy & vague digital painting of a black horse running across the surface of the water rendered in soft greens and pinks. The horse and a tree are reflected in the water's surface.
Digital art of an iridescent black horse running across a still lake. He runs towards the left side of the frame, away from a forested area to the right. Bare branches and trunks of trees emerge from the water and the setting sun turns the sky behind the trees orange. Everything is reflected in the water as if it is a mirror, though more black swirls reach in towards the reflected horse, which has a small grin.
Greyscale graphite-style sketch of a man running away from a tall building, clutching a bag against his front. Shadows are rendered in thick blocks. Handwritten text at the bottom reads '1 - The Fool'. There are swirling clouds in the background and a tall clock tower.
Digital art of a tarot card design. Islin, a ginger-haired man wearing glasses, looks back over his shoulder at a tall warped building, which he has just run away from. His face is in shadow but he is visibly in tears, and he clutches a briefcase against his front as he storms away from the building. Black clouds and a dull red sunset swirl behind him while rain falls down from above. Barely visible against the dark shading is a repeated pattern of moth silhouettes with eyes on their wings. The same silhouette peers out over the top of the image, just the eyes visible. At the bottom of the card in capital letters is just the word FOOL.
Colourful and rough line sketch of two mechanical beasts engaged in battle, one pouncing on top of the other, on a plain white bg. There is a medieval bestiary-style rendition of the battle drawn roughly above the two beasts.
Digital art resembling a medieval manuscript. Two mechanical beasts are fighting within an ornate frame. On the bottom is a realistic depiction of a leopard-shaped beast pouncing onto a griffon-shaped beast, breathing fire. The griffon is crouched in place with a long chain emerging from the muzzle of the cannon mounted on its back. Behind them is a depiction of the same battle but in a medieval bestiary style, showing a leopard pouncing on a griffon. To the right of the frame is a dense paragraph of text which is intentionally unreadable.

Another one of these since i haven't done it in a while! Sketch -> finished illustration

Thoughts & process below the cut :>

Out of Bounds: i deleted the sketch of this off my ipad because i didn't like it, and for months it only existed as a screenshot on discord. finally in january of this year i was like Wait Actually and decided to keep working on it. I didn't achieve the look I was going for (kind of foggy and vague. It came out too sharp and high contrast) but it was fun to throw the kitchen sink at it for an afternoon and then call it done finally. I don't remember which horse this was originally supposed to be, I think Macha?

I reused the pose, you'll find the same one in my Pascal sketchbook from the section on gait studies. That's the cool thing about doing 30 sketches at once, you can finish them up any time you like for a different drawing

The Fool ft Islin: the original concept for this is from [takes a moment to decipher the american date system on discord] January 2022

Procreate screenshot showing a rough sketch of a Fool tarot card, this one is a lot less dramatic. Islin is walking away in tears from the mill. Various religious paraphernalia hang in the background.

It wasn't dynamic enough, but I've had this on the backburner for sooo long. I think I completed like 4 cards in between this sketch and the final version lol. But, for a bit of background, this is from my series of major arcana based in Inver, and in particular the events of the 1860s-era book series, Moth Viper Foal (a demo of the first book, Said The Black Horse, is available for free/pwyw in my shop). This scene is a companion to Said The Black Horse, depicting the aftermath of the traumatic fight that caused Islin to storm off. He had been working at the mill as a semiprofessional back alley surgeon when he received an offer to join the church and work as a trained surgeon in their hospital. But when he brought the good news back to his friends it was met with utter rejection, driving him to basically run away to join the church. while gay and trans. thus the card.

he didn't actually bring a bag with him when he ran out but for the sake of the card i drew him with one

Gryfon and Pantera: This is how 99% of holy beast drawings start out, even the super stylised ones. I struggle a lot to draw them in procreate so they start in sai and then i transfer them over. The story of this is already explained in the caption of the original post so I'll just talk about the process which was... honestly torturous. I actually don't like too much textures and effects on things (wild, I know) and this one and Out of Bounds are ones where I kind of preferred it pre-texturising.

The text on the side is the official in-universe report of the event, detailing the casualties, the valiant actions of Gryfon's knight before he died and so on. There's also spoilers in there :>

My main struggle with this art style is how it always ends up slightly TOO sharp and crisp in a way the just a blur filter never can correct. There's not a lot of immersion to break, to be fair, but I think this still does it a little. I need to get more comfortable doing the lines with larger and softer brushes, and allowing imperfections.

I love reading the Septimus Heap books because the writing style is hilarious. The author goes off on paragraphs-long tangents about characters that aren’t even remotely important to the plot! Funny things happen like:

The Dragon Boat lands in the River safely (a very good thing, extremely important to the main plot)

The author (paraphrased): And no one was around to see it, except for 4 old fishermen who are known for telling tall tales, so when they went to the tavern for fishermen (because that exists apparently), nobody believed them. They even convinced themselves that they were just exaggerating, and they didn’t see a dragon in the shape of a boat land in the river. Anyway, back to the actual plot…

Something I find really amusing about the reaction to the Ahsoka trailer is the amount of people saying “Omg my favorite war criminal is back!!!” And the war criminal in question is Chopper and not Thrawn

Guillermo del Toro’s last five films have been:

1. A dark fairy tale as a metaphor for the effects of war on children, set in the midst of the Spanish Civil War 2. A superhero movie that features a war between mankind and magical creatures 3. An action movie where the heroes have to share their minds and bond emotionally so they can punch aliens from the sea better. Also Charlie Day is a scientist. 4. Basically what would happen if all three Bronte sisters got hammered and wrote a book with Lord Byron. and 5. An adorable woman falls in love with a fish man. Not a merman. A FISH MAN.

No one in Hollywood is having more fun.
