it’s spring
and it’s starting again, the longing
that begins, and begins, and begins.

Poem of the Week
Everything All at Once
Oliver Baez Bendorf

                                      right now,
someone is having sex and someone
is dying and someone is trying to find
a lid so they can, before bed, put away
the soup and someone is dreaming
of that made meadow and someone
is gazing through a hospital window
to a faraway peak
and someone can’t decide what
to watch so they remain

on the menu screen for company
and someone wants to call but
can’t and someone wants to answer
but won’t and someone is studying
to become a moth scientist and someone
is dizzy and doesn’t know why
and someone is, after work, practicing
the vocal techniques of opera
and someone receives
a phone call saying listen it’s my

neighbor I told you about the singing one can you
hear it and someone
is clutching the heavy still warm hand
of a lover and someone is digging
a hole and someone is waxing
their back and someone
is remembering a poem permitting
bits and pieces to return
and someone
would do almost anything to forget

I Am The Type Of Lover That Foresees Collapse And Dives In Headfirst Anyway. I Am The Type Of Lover That

I am the type of lover that foresees collapse and dives in headfirst anyway. I am the type of lover that knew who he was all along and loved him anyway. I implored him, I craved him at every moment of the day and every second I did not spend with him was a waste of time to me. I loved him, I knew him, with his blood underneath my nails, tears down my shirt, pulling him into me and mourning his body that was still warm in my arms. I knew he wouldn’t stay from the very beginning, yet I played his game simply to draw him out of himself and to experience him fully as a person. I am rich, but not in the way you’d think, but my biggest pleasure in life is coaxing the life and humanity out of people and to collect their impressions on me and see the world as they do. It’s so beautiful to be human. I wish I could live like they do

"If I were orpheus I wouldn't look back"

But we look back everyday- rechecking emails, making sure a friend is still behind you, checking to see if you remebered to pick up your keys. It's second nature, a habit of care.

It was second nature for him too. He looked back, not out of weakness, but love. For what is love, if not to look back?

Voices from the first dark heartshaped green of summer
leaves, rain:
birds’.

What are they called.

I’m leaving here, and still don’t know.

I’m going there, though,
where they are—
I feel this.

Feel that I was there
before.

I felt this
as a child, and now
I know it.

Pick up the day

The June bug
on the screen door
whirs like a small,
ugly machine,

and a chorus of frogs
and crickets drones like Musak
at all the windows.
What we don’t quite see

comforts us.
Blink of lightning, grumble
of thunder—just the heat
clearing its throat.

bluesky post by Corey Rayburn Yung
@coreyryung.bsky.social
As someone who has also had a spinal fusion
operation (mine was cervical) and years of horrific pain, I think the x-ray photo on his profile is far more important in understanding the shooter's motivations for attacking a health insurance CEO than any
retweeting activity or Goodreads reviews.
he has qyoted a post by
Peter Twinklage @petertwinklage.bsky.social whuch says
the person of interest in the shooting of the United CEO has been ID'd as Luigi Mangione, an Ivy League grad and fan of Breloom, the mushroom Pokémon.
the quoted tweet has two images. the second is a closeup of Mangione shritless on a hiking trip, but more importantly the first one shows his twitter profile including the banner. it has a picture of the aforementioned pokemon, an x-ray showing he had metal attached to his lower spine, and the image of his trip.

on a more serious note, I think it's important to consider the uhc ceo shooter's twitter seems to indicate he suffered from severe chronic pain and this is likely a big contributor to his actions
