DON'T YOU EVER CALL YOURSELF HALF A WITCH EVER AGAIN š
Thinking about how Glinda never really hated that hat. She actually really loved it. It was dear to her. Her granny made it for her and probably played pretend with her, making Glindaās dreams of becoming a sorceress come true. Glinda was just embarrassed when Pfannee and Shen Shen found it, so she pretended to hate it.
Maybe when she said she didnāt hate anyone that much to give it away, she really meant she didnāt love anyone that muchā she didnāt trust anyone to understand how she could love a hat so hideous.
Maybe she knew Elphaba would understand. Maybe she knew Elphaba would take care of it.
And maybe Elphaba proved her right. And now, Glinda gets to admire as the most fearless person she has ever met cherishes her hat as dearly as she did.
Sorry Iām thinking about Martyn winning + the absence of Ren [has Renchanting disease]ā¦
Martyn always acts nonchalant and independent and gossipy in these series, he goes around the entire server, he is in everyoneās business but also detached from everyoneās business at the same time. In every season (except this one), Martyn ends up gravitating towards Ren and never truly betrays him.
But this time? Martyn has Scott, who in all honesty is a wonderful and selfless ally, and despite all that Scott does, all the forgiveness and aid and asking for Martyn to kill him, Martyn still wanders around. In the finale episode, Martyn sets off before Scott can even say a word to him. And while Martyn couldnāt manage to betray Ren in 3rd Life, he betrayed Scott here (although he killed Scott first so Impulse couldnāt get the time).
Traffic Martyn is unhinged. Heās a loose canon. He canāt trust the rest. He likes hanging out around people, but he constantly lies and escapes to get himself out of trouble. He has his allies, but he still wanders. He goes around the four corners of the world, and he finds nothing but walls and edges. Heās independent. Martyn places his own survival first, vs the selfless Scott who repeatedly sacrifices time for people whom arenāt even his closest allies.
But Ren historically has always been the exception. Dogwarts. The Red Army. Hand of the King. Martyn couldāve betrayed Ren. He had multiple chances. He never did.
And now Limited Life Martyn is wrapped up in a Red Winter scarf from the old times and thereās no Ren to hold him back, to soften him, to guide the unguided hand. Martyn has Scott, but he was never as loyal to Scott as he was to the Red King.
Remember people pointing out that when Martyn and Ren team up, they always land in the middle of the pack? 3rd Life, Hermit Raiders, MCC15. And now, in Martynās first season without Ren, he girlbosses and betrays his way to victory. He finally achieved his Spring.
Martyn is an unguided hand, and Ren is the only one who can guide him. Yet, with Ren, Martyn dies. Without Ren, Martyn survives.
Once An Accident, Twice A Coincidence, Three Times A Pattern
Painful as it was in the beginning, it only feels glorious now
like as a feminist and an asexual if you ever imply that not having sex / not having "enough" of it is a conservative or reactionary trait I will be running you over with a bus pronto
I love how inherently selfish both Glinda AND Elphaba are as protagonists. But where one gets praised and admired for it, the other gets demonised and hated.
People always attack Glindaās decision not to runaway with Elphaba, but no one acknowledges how overtly selfish it is to ask that of someone.
although what Elphaba is asking of her is noble on paper, in practice itās an incredibly selfish position to put Glinda in. By asking Glinda to stand with her in solidarity she is also asking Glinda to be ostracised and hated all throughout Oz when she knows full well how much being liked meansās to Glinda.
This traps Glinda is a lose-lose situation. If she agrees she loses everything, her family, friends, and future. If she refuses she is being complicit in injustice.
but on the other hand Itās a more selfish decision to refuse Elphaba request. To perpetuate corrupt beliefs you donāt believe; in order to be accepted and validated by people in power.
Although one of the options seems more ethically right, it is at the same time individually devastating. The conscious choice to willing ruin your life for things you believe in is a choice that only the strongest people can make. And we shouldnāt shame people when they choose themselves over ideals, because self preservation isnāt a thing to be ashamed of.
Theyāre BOTH in the wrong, for entirely different reasons. It was an impossible situation with no right answer. And thats why the scene works, neither is right or wrong. Iām sick of people acting like Glinda made the ā wrong choice ā as if they would go ruin their lives for their ideals.
Love the idea that in universe fanon changes the way the Minecraft people look. Doc wakes up in crocs one day, nods, smiles, and carries on. He's a little less reserved when he wakes up a quadruped, but it's kind of cool.
Jimmy, meanwhile, wakes up with fledgling wings after Last life. They take a while to fledge, and he thinks the colour might change. The whims of the universe are odd, after all. No. He wakes after Double life with the bright yellow feathers that had grown in throughout the sessions, and sobs for the soulmate he lost. No longer does he hear whispers across worlds. No, now he can tell before someone dies. Never enough to prevent it, only enough for it to hurt. He sees Tango again and tastes death on his soul fire hair.
Some people change by their dream. Gem, for instance, is equally comfortable with horns and hooves or with butterfly wings.
Grian sobs as his wings, once a relief, brightly coloured and so, so different to the monochrome of the downside up, give way once more to purples. Tears fall from a thousand eyes forced open, watching.
Joe is delighted when, for a brief month, he sees through rainbow eyes. They fade, but turn up on Tuesdays and Rain days.
Cleo sighs the first time her arm falls off, and searches for Grian for sewing advice, remembering a disconcerting era of plastic eyes and floppy bodies.
Some folk barely notice. What's the difference between being something that looks like a normal guy but isn't, and being a normal guy? Aesthetically, not much. Sometimes, they can't tell until they smile and people flinch, until they take their helmet off and choke, until the disguise they painted for themself refuses to come off.
Zedaph, comfortably a sheep, wakes up in bed disoriented after a particularly surprising shrieker stack. The potential consequence of a shock to prey animals hadn't occured to him before... It would make a great Zedvancement.
when the wind blows / and thereās a chill in the air / i hope that someone is taking care of you
