Slaves who escaped were breaking the law. Literally. Outright.
Jewish people who escaped the Nazis were breaking the law. Literally. Outright.
The law is a horrible judge of morality.
Today on things that keep me up at night: have you ever thought about how Glinda worked very closely with the Wizard for nearly a decade? Have you ever considered that she probably saw him nearly every day, that she knows the way he walks and talks and acts better than damn near anyone else in Oz, that they were coworkers in close proximity for a long time. And Elphaba is his daughter. And even if they met twice, even if they never really knew each other, Elphie and the Wizard must have attributes in common.
The shape of the face or the eyes, the slope of the shoulders, the way the smile lifts the corner of the mouth, a certain phrase, or a look or just a way of moving, all an echo of the Wizard, of Elphabas father, and Glinda knows it. Feels something dangerously close to fear curl cold and tight around her heart when she realizes why she feels like she’s seen that smile before, somewhere else, on someone else, and why it’s setting alarm bells screaming in the back of her mind
because Elphaba, in tiny noticeable ways, is her fathers daughter
Okay I’m listening to I’m Not That Girl from Wicked and Elphaba doesn’t even fucking talk about fiyero, like at all. The only person she fucking talks about is Galinda and how pretty she is and how she’s so great, like she’s not even TRYING to be straight what a useless gay can’t even sing a love song about her designated male love interest without being in love with her roommate
Going to my first ever collage party, I hope I don't miss 3rd Life season 4
Do you think dad titan cried when he saw king announce he wanted eda to adopt him? Do you think he was happy that his son found a family he was unable to provide? When king said the famous "I'm so glad to have had you as my sister" do you think dad Bawled his eyes out and continued to watch both king in the isles and luz in the human realm? I bet he shipped lumity before it became official and I bet he also watched hunter since his golden guard days and watched him develop into the sweet nerdy guy we know. I bet he watched the owl house just as closely as we did and was rooting for our favorites the whole time and that makes me happy
NGL I love it when the hermits tell us about their own roles in the server infrastructure. Like you've got X in charge of managing the server hardware, Doc on lag busting, Hypno is in charge of the website, Keralis is hardware sugar daddy, Impulse stepped up to coordinate group recordings, Joe causes problems by accident, people pitch storylines and run events and the server runs and runs, season after season
My man casually dropping things like that. I'm gonna cry
You know, as horrible as that Velma show is, seeing everyone online band together and unanimously denounce it is very heartwarming to witness. The internet is a pretty divisive and argumentative place, so watching people across every platform unify against Velma is a refreshing experience to say the least.
As a lifelong Scooby Doo fan, knowing that everyone is in agreement that the Velma show is mean-spirited, unnatural, and wrong definitely feels good.
this was so fucking stupid
I love how inherently selfish both Glinda AND Elphaba are as protagonists. But where one gets praised and admired for it, the other gets demonised and hated.
People always attack Glinda’s decision not to runaway with Elphaba, but no one acknowledges how overtly selfish it is to ask that of someone.
although what Elphaba is asking of her is noble on paper, in practice it’s an incredibly selfish position to put Glinda in. By asking Glinda to stand with her in solidarity she is also asking Glinda to be ostracised and hated all throughout Oz when she knows full well how much being liked means’s to Glinda.
This traps Glinda is a lose-lose situation. If she agrees she loses everything, her family, friends, and future. If she refuses she is being complicit in injustice.
but on the other hand It’s a more selfish decision to refuse Elphaba request. To perpetuate corrupt beliefs you don’t believe; in order to be accepted and validated by people in power.
Although one of the options seems more ethically right, it is at the same time individually devastating. The conscious choice to willing ruin your life for things you believe in is a choice that only the strongest people can make. And we shouldn’t shame people when they choose themselves over ideals, because self preservation isn’t a thing to be ashamed of.
They’re BOTH in the wrong, for entirely different reasons. It was an impossible situation with no right answer. And thats why the scene works, neither is right or wrong. I’m sick of people acting like Glinda made the “ wrong choice ” as if they would go ruin their lives for their ideals.
