Welcome to the Gelphie Big Bang 2025! This event is all about bringing together writers and artists to create collaborative, high-quality fanworks centered on the relationship between Elphaba and G(a)linda (Gelphie/Gelphaba) from Wickedâwhether youâre inspired by the musical, the movie, the book, or your head canons come from a mix of all three. Welcome and thanks for joining!
A Big Bang is a fandom event/challenge where writers craft a long-form fanfic (minimum 10k words), and artists are matched to them to create visual art of all different kinds, inspired by their story. At the end of the challenge, both the story and the art are revealed togetherâ(with a BANG! <- pun intended)
This is a classic Big Bang.
Minimum word count: 10,000 words.
Your fic must focus on Gelphie as the primary ship. Other characters and relationships are welcome, but Elphaba/G(a)linda must be the emotional heart of the story.
Genres, Crossovers, and AUs are absolutely welcomeâbring on the gothic dramas, soulmate AUs, non-magical AUs, There's nothing wrong in Oz, Elphaba had caring parents, Gangster 1920s AUs, and more.
No previously published work. You must write a brand new fic specifically for this event. Though, if you have a fic that you have not updated in at least 6 months that you'd like to use this as a means of inspiration to get you to finish it, those will be considered on a case by case basis.
First drafts must be actual drafts, not just outlines. They must be at least 6,000 words and include the full arc (beginning, middle, and end). You can polish after matching, but give your artist something real to work with!
Final fics go live during the reveal period only. No sharing snippets or edits early unless scheduled as part of the Big Bang and requested by this blog/Mod. In short, no early posting. Youâll get instructions closer to the deadline for how to post to AO3.
Youâll be matched with a story that inspires youâbased on a blind summary selection process (you wonât know the authorâs name when choosing). This will need to be a first come first serve basis, as all fics need to be paired.
Art requirements:
Images must be at least 400x600px.
Videos must be at least 1 minute long.
Fanmixes must include cover + back art (400x400px min) and at least 6 songs with accessible links.
Any type of visual or audio fanart is welcome: digital art, traditional art, manips, vids, music, fanmixes, etc.
Your work must be original and unpublished before the reveal date. No reposting old works.
Some flexibility with edits is okay after matching, but talk with your writer before making big changes.
Art will go live during the reveal period. Please wait to crosspost off AO3 until reveals are complete so both fic and art can shine (in a galindified approved) way!
There will be an AO3 collection to publish both fic and art. If you donât have an AO3 account, I can help you get one!
Once you submit, your work will be unrevealed (hidden from the public) until the official reveal date.
Youâll be able to edit your submission until reveals begin.
You can crosspost your work anywhere (Tumblr, Instagram, FFN, etc.) after reveals are done.
Life happens! If you need to drop out, please do so before you are matched with a partner. That way, no one is left hanging mid-process. Iâll communicate drop-out deadlines clearly via email and this Tumblr. If you drop out respectfully and in time, youâre absolutely welcome to join us for future Gelphie events! In the event that you need to drop out after you've been paired with someone, that is where a Pinch-Hitter will come in.
No plagiarism. That includes fic, art, AND AI-generated content that replicates othersâ work. If your submission is found to use AI it will be removed.
If you suspect plagiarism, please do not report it unless you have clear evidence, such as a side-by-side comparison.
Youâll write a 10k+ Gelphie fic, submit a draft for artist matching, and collaborate with your artist until final posting.
Youâll review fic summaries, claim one that inspires you, and create a beautiful piece of fanart to match.
Betas help writers edit and polish their drafts! You can sometimes serve as a source of help or inspiration when the creative juices stop flowing. Youâll check for grammar, plot holes, character voice, pacing, and overall coherence. You can sign up as a beta reader even if youâre not a writer or artist!
Cheerleaders are the supportive backbone of the Bang! Youâll encourage writers and artists, help brainstorm through blocks, and be a friendly hype machine for the writers/artists.
The heroes who step in if a writer or artist drops out after the match. Youâll be contacted only if needed and asked if youâre available. Flexible, low-pressure, but extremely appreciated!
Absolutely! You can write AND beta, or make art AND cheerleadâjust make sure you have time to commit to each role responsibly.
All fics and art will be posted anonymously until the end of the event. There will be 2â3 creation reveals per day during the reveal period so that everyone gets a spotlight moment. Youâre welcome to crosspost your work afterward wherever you like!
Iâll post the official schedule with sign-up deadlines, draft due dates, and reveal windows on our Tumblr and in your inboxes. Stay tuned!
Feel free to reach out to to us here at anytime! I'm happy to helpâwhether you're wondering how to write your first draft or how to link a fanmix on AO3.
In-lore, how do you account for the creators' other series, such as Hermitcraft and 100 Hours? Do those happen in between death games, and at any point they could be ripped out of their normal lives and forced to murder their friends for eldritch beings' entertainment? Are they plain not canon to the eyesandears lore?
I saw a clip of Scar freaking out about a skulk sensor and reminding himself this is Hermitcraft, everyone here's nice, it's not gonna blow up and couldn't stop wondering.
If memory serves correctly, we decided on the Last Life post season stream that other SMPs are dreams the players are having between seasons of the death games
It's not a detail we've totally locked in yet, so it's still a bit loosey goosey until we decide some hard cannon
Currently I like to think of it as dream states between the games. Yes, some of the players share the same dream space like Empires / Hermitcraft but that's just an allowance made by the Watchers through their soul linking powers.
There's literal soul linking demonstrated in Double Life with the health system but their power is vast and comes with variations. I wouldn't say it's any kind of 'plane walking' ability (which I've seen a lot of people theorizing on based on Gem's lore and how she might've entered the Life series), currently I feel like it's more mental manipulation / alteration as opposed to travelling.
So for now it's a little vague until we decide something concrete or the narrative would benefit from a clearer definition being made. But I always like to be honest about these details so people know not everything is committed to ink just yet
To the animals, the wolves, the lions, the foxes and cats and birds: Your eyes shine so brightly. Your fur is luscious, your feathers luxurious, your teeth furious and beautiful. Your claws are sharper than you think. One day, you will get them back. One day, you will be helpless, human, no more.
To the fairies, the angels, the aliens, the demons, the mermaids and sirens, the divine: Even here you are powerful. Even here you are divine and beautiful. Your wings are gorgeous, your horns and haloes majestic, your tails ethereal. Home will welcome you, welcome us all, with open arms one day.
To my fellow dolls, the marionettes, the puppets, the toys and ball-jointed: We may be delicate, but our subtle power defines us. We bend and move and dance in ways no human ever could. One day, our everlasting regality will return to us.
To the voids, the glitches, the abstract, the eldritch, the robots, the objectheads: Do with this brief moment of flesh what you will. You know who you really are inside, and thatâs all that matters. Your soul still bleeds the color of the stars.
To the monsters, the zombies, the cryptids, the vampires, the werewolves and ghosts: The world will always fear that which it does not understand. We understand each other, and through this we have made our own world. We create our reality, and thatâs whatâs important.
To the therians, the otherkin, the fictionkin, voidpunks, and all other nonhumans: We are strong. We know who and what we are. We know what this flesh conceals. One day, the world will see us for who we are and accept us as her children all the same. For now, we persevere.
let x=x.

[ID: A digital comic of Martin Blackwood and Jonathan Sims, done in warm greens and browns against a simple white background. Lyrics are threaded throughout the piece, as the only text.
The comic starts with a panel of them lying in grass, unconscious. Lyrics: âI met this guy.â Martin wakes with a start, and it zooms out to show the two splayed out next to each other, blood soaking the grass beneath Jon, a bloody knife laying some feet away from them. They are tangled in a few long swathes of cassette tape. Martin wakes Jon, whose eyes are now cloudy, blind. Jon reaches for Martinâs face as they both begin to cry. Their foreheads press together, as Martin sobs in anguished joy, Jon in shock. Lyrics: âand he looked like he mightâve been a hat check clerk, at an ice rink.â The two next panels are of Martinâs hand brushing over the place in Jonâs sweater thatâs bloodstained, and a wider shot of them kissing. Lyrics: âwhich, in fact, he turned out to be.â The knife is then shown, as Martin helps Jon get up, as they brace themselves against each other, as they begin to walk. Lyrics: âand I said, âoh boy. right again.â End ID]

People with personality disorders are not evil or subhuman. In most cases they are people who faced so much ongoing trauma and neglect during their upbringing that it damaged their development to the point of permanent disability. These are traumatized people who deserve compassion, support and resources, not further dehumanization. They are victims and survivors, not perpetrators

I love how inherently selfish both Glinda AND Elphaba are as protagonists. But where one gets praised and admired for it, the other gets demonised and hated.
People always attack Glindaâs decision not to runaway with Elphaba, but no one acknowledges how overtly selfish it is to ask that of someone.
although what Elphaba is asking of her is noble on paper, in practice itâs an incredibly selfish position to put Glinda in. By asking Glinda to stand with her in solidarity she is also asking Glinda to be ostracised and hated all throughout Oz when she knows full well how much being liked meansâs to Glinda.
This traps Glinda is a lose-lose situation. If she agrees she loses everything, her family, friends, and future. If she refuses she is being complicit in injustice.
but on the other hand Itâs a more selfish decision to refuse Elphaba request. To perpetuate corrupt beliefs you donât believe; in order to be accepted and validated by people in power.
Although one of the options seems more ethically right, it is at the same time individually devastating. The conscious choice to willing ruin your life for things you believe in is a choice that only the strongest people can make. And we shouldnât shame people when they choose themselves over ideals, because self preservation isnât a thing to be ashamed of.
Theyâre BOTH in the wrong, for entirely different reasons. It was an impossible situation with no right answer. And thats why the scene works, neither is right or wrong. Iâm sick of people acting like Glinda made the â wrong choice â as if they would go ruin their lives for their ideals.

Shout-out to a friend for showing me this!!
You know, as horrible as that Velma show is, seeing everyone online band together and unanimously denounce it is very heartwarming to witness. The internet is a pretty divisive and argumentative place, so watching people across every platform unify against Velma is a refreshing experience to say the least.
As a lifelong Scooby Doo fan, knowing that everyone is in agreement that the Velma show is mean-spirited, unnatural, and wrong definitely feels good.
