This is based on a true story. My wife has gone on a lot of platonic "dates" (generally just meeting for coffee, lunch or a drink) with other men. This gives her a chance to get to know him and decide if he is someone she would like to be more than friends with. Usually she lets the guy make the first move, but there was this one guy that she really had the hots for that was being too timid. They met for coffee a few times and he flirted quite a bit, but he seemed afraid to do more than flirt because of her being married. So I encouraged her to be more forward and she finally did. They ended up dating and being lovers for a long time after that.
