I personally headcanon that Flippy's love of books ties in with why he became a soldier in the first place. His love of heroics inspired him to want to be one himself (this would also explain all the ancient war memorabilia/weapons in his home lol) Sadly, he got to experience what the life of a "real" hero was actually like....

It Could Have Been: From Animatic To Final (Part 1 of 2) // Season 1, Episode 9: Time Police (Part 1)

Notes:

The biggest difference is that The Future Warden in the animatic still had the same look of his suit and top hat, rather than the uniform. One might think they made it more unnerving with the uniform, but I think it’s the opposite. Seeing him in his usual suit but as a ruthless dictator rather than the usual goofy guy we’re used to would be way spookier, in my opinion, anyway.

The other interesting change is that in the original execution chamber, there’s Warden faces creating the ‘See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ imagery. Again, it sort of makes a more unnerving scene for an execution, despite the torture tools in the final version.

My favorite! Jailbot!!!  I love Jailbot so much and getting to work on him was a treat.

I feel like If the Warden wasn’t a warden He’d probably be an inventor. This dork was able to rebuild Jailbot while falling through the air without any tools. He certainly has a knack for it.
