one thing i rlly appreciate rewtaching the lotr movies is the subtle environmental story telling with the dirt and grime on the characters... and how it adds a level of character depth that i find many other movies don't include
for instance the dirt on many of the characters faces throughout the film not only shows that- yea they're going through it... but ALSO you can see past or current emotion through the tear stains over the dirt
and the other thing is i LOVE that so many of their nails are kinda just coated in dirt because it does make sense for a very outdoor story! making it feel grounded in the atmosphere even if it wasn't an intentional decision
