i swear to god if polyamorous people become the new “cringe identity” i am killing someone. we need to stop doing this… there is absolutely nothing to be gained by labeling an entire group of people “annoying” based on their attraction to others. it’s genuinely so pathetic and it really just seems like some gay people want to live out their fantasy of being high school bullies, so they go after people they deem lesser than them (this was once bisexuals, and then it was nonbinary people, and then asexual, and now it’s going to be polyamorous people)

So I've seen a huge misunderstanding of the rating tags in AO3 as of late, mainly when it comes to the difference between E and M rated fics. Just yesterday, I've came across a graphic sex scene in an M rated fic. That's really concerning.

To sum things up, it's the difference between an R-rated movie and an X-rated movies...

"M" rated fics are like American R-rated movies. These contain hard core cursing (like tons of f bombs and ones worse than that), smoking, under aged drinking, drug use, mature subject matter, graphic violence and milder/not super descriptive spicy scenes. Think things like Deadpool, Prey, and Joker are good comparisons.

"E" rated fics are NC-17/X-rated movies. They are rated that way because they have explicated sex scenes that show everything. That's literally it.

Please for the love of god, rate your fics properly! There are a lot of sexual adverse people out there that don't want to read an "M" rated fic and come across a super explicit sex scene. There would be a lot of people disappointed and angry at you if an "E" rated fic has zero spice. It's better to rate your fic too high than too low.

quick protip: if someone is crying or freaking out over something minor, eg wifi not connecting, can’t find their hat, people talking too loud, do NOT tell them how small or petty the problem is to make it better. they know. they would probably love to calm down. you are doing the furthest possible thing from helping. people don’t have to earn expressions of feelings.

My parents HATE overwatch because it takes up our entire wifi whenever my brother goes online and when I bought myself the new Zelda my mom was like “can I watch Netflix? or are you playing” and I was like no, no don’t worry it doesn’t take up internet. and she was so relieved and started walking towards the TV in her room and I was like “you want to watch it out here? I can switch to the handheld mode” and she was so impressed that she could watch Master Chef next to me while I played my game. Nintendo is truly the family system.
