Accretion Disk Binary System - December 26th, 1995.
"OurΒ SunΒ is unusual in that it is alone - most stars occur in multiple orΒ binary systems. In a binary system, the higher mass star will evolve faster and will eventually become a compact object - either aΒ white dwarfΒ star, aΒ neutron star, orΒ black hole. When the lower mass star later evolves into an expansion phase, it may be so close to the compact star that its outer atmosphere actually falls onto it. Such is the caseΒ diagrammedΒ above. HereΒ gasΒ from a blue giant star is shown being stripped away into an accretion disk around its compact binary companion. Gas in the accretion disk swirls around, heats up, and eventually falls onto the compact star. Extreme conditions frequently occur on the surface of the compact star as gas falls in, many times causing detectableΒ X-rays,Β gamma-rays, or evenΒ cataclysmic novaeΒ explosions. Studying the extreme conditions in these systems tells us about the inner properties of ordinary matter around us."
so international space station astronauts apparently dropped a tool bag during a spacewalk. and if you look outside when the ISS is in your region, you can see it with binoculars
The tool bag is now orbiting our planet just ahead of the ISS with a visual magnitude of around 6, according to EarthSky. That means it is slightly less bright than the ice giant Uranus, the seventh planet from the sun. As a result, the bagβ β βofficially known as a crew lock bagβ β βis slightly too dim to be visible to the unaided eye, but skywatchers should be able to pick it up with binoculars.Β To see it for yourself, first find out when you can find spot the space station over the next few months (NASA even has a new app to help you). The bag should be floating two to four minutes ahead of the station. As it descends rapidly, the bag is likely to disintegrate when it reaches an altitude of around 70 miles (113 kilometers) over Earth.Β
she's fucking magnificent
hi!!! how are you? can i just say that i really love your pfp its so pretty and fits your blogβs vibe perfectly
hey! i'm doing pretty good :). thanks so much by the way! ur blog is so cute too <3
give me a world you have taken the world i was tuesday
the past couple months i've really been faced with the question of "why do you study astrophysics" and. uh
i don't know if I'm passionate about what i do because i know a lot about it, or if i know a lot about what i do because I'm passionate about it
because i definitely did not give two shits about space until maybe the last year of high school. but to be fair i did not give two shits about anything
