This blog will combine three things I love dearly: writing, talking about writing, and aesthetics. So if you have an amazing OC for which you crave an aesthetic moodboard or Instagram page - tell me all about them, and I will make you one! After all, every writer needs fanart.

For the engineer, Lydia Preston, by @lethalblizzard. I hope you like it! Requests for OC aesthetics are open.
Everyone is grabbing each others hands. And patting backs. And slinging arms over shoulders. Please stop touching.
At this rate, my character’s have cocked their heads so much someone’s neck is about to fucking crack.
Hi! For the oc headcanon association post- who do you associate with 11, 16 and 34 :)
Hey friend! Thanks for the question :D These are OC’s from my current WIP. 11. Gives nicknames to othersMercury nicknames people only moments or days after meeting them. He’s a very good judge of character. People will consider his nicknames sort of random at first, but in time they find out the name is more fitting than it had any right to be. Copper gives people nicknames too, but they are always teasing (sometimes on the edge of being mean). 16. Has a strong eyebrow gameSilver combines it with his sarcastic comments, but I’d say Fer has the strongest. He is a skeptic on most matters - ranging from hopes to reform society to any plan made shitfaced drunk - and he expresses at lot of that by folding his arms and raising his eyebrows. 34. Would join the circusHa, trick question! Since the mains of my WIP are a bunch of traveling artist/magicians, who combine music and theater with juggling, knife-throwing and fire-breathing, I’d say they already are a kind of circus. Had they been living in a modern society, I think they would all have chosen circus-life over the lives they had at home.
I worked in a sportcentre where I was sort of bored all the time, so once I was reading the businesscards of my boss when the phone rang. I still had them in my hand and as I picked up and introduced myself, I used my own first name but my boss’s last name. She has a common last name, so it wouldn’t have been a problem. The only thing was: it was my boss calling. And she knew my actual last name.
I worked with toddlers and pre schoolers for three years. Sometimes I accidentally slip and tell a friend to say bye to an inanimate object (“say bye bus!”) & occasionally they unthinkingly just do it.
Likes their music loud
Would poison someone if given the chance
Always happy
Afraid of spiders
Would jump out of a plane
Calls people ‘Dude’
Wants to just lay down and not move
Has the perfect come backs
Can punch someone and the person they punched would thank them
Listens to everything but common sense
Gives nicknames to others
Likes to talk to code
Doesn’t open up to others very easily
Is painfully obvious on who they like
Would get a tattoo on a whim
Has a strong eyebrow game
Would jump off a building
Likes to travel
Likes roses
Talks in song lyrics
Is tol
Is smol
Would murder someone if given the opportunity
Had a sad childhood
Loves their parents
Hates fish
Questions everything
Would keep up with celebrity gossip
Would make it rain in the club
Likes hugs
Kisses their partner good night
Likes to give piggybacks
Likes to sing in the vehicle
Would join the circus
Could be a stand up comedian
Has bad luck
Likes pretzels
Loves the rain
Can knock out someone’s tooth in one punch
Will kiss someone to steal their wallet
Is it cool to send in like MBTI / Zodiac stuff for oc aesthetics?
I must admit that I know absolutely nothing about either. Though internet goes a long way, I would probably need some more info to make anything that fits your OC. That said, of course you can send this with the rest of the info, and I’ll see what I can make of it!
To a lady and a knight, by @ladyliliana. I hope this does Ula and Lorne justice. I believe it’s going to be a wonderful story! Requests for OC aesthetics are open.
I’m only following 67 blogs, I definitely need more blogs to follow
Reblog this post if you post any of the following and I’ll check you out!
mythology (all types; if we’re talking specifics though, I’m mostly interested in greek/roman, celtic and japanese myths and legends)
aesthetic (preferably soft or pale aesthetic, any aes will do though!)
literature
writing
original content creators (meaning if you create your own moodboards/edits/graphics etc.)
I would love it if my mutuals could possibly reblog this to help me out?
Tin sounds like such an awesome character!!! Which are your favorite facts abt her? Also, in your current wip, which character is your favorite? Least favorite? Why? Ya know what? Just tell me what are your favorite parts of your whole WIP! I really want to hear abt it!! (Sorry abt such long ask, is just that your project really sparked my curiosity XD)
Don't apologize! I am literally smilinglike crazy over here behind my screen. This is the first time I'veshared anything about my project with the outher world and you haveno idea how happy these compliments and questions and the generalinterest are making me! Thanks so much!
Oh, I love Tin! I'mso glad you think she's cool. Here's some facts about her: *She's an activist at heart. At the start of the story, she joins astrike and then gets into a duel because someone talked shit abouther friend. She won't let you do that. She has no chill, but shereally does want the world to be a better place. * She named hergun after the only one of her brothers that did not ignore her. *She wears men's clothes for practical reasons. * If she getsoverwehlmed by any emotion but anger, tears well easily and she hatesthat.* She was part of a gang of yought criminals for a while. They were all boys and refused to let her in at first, but she foughtone with such feriousity that she scared the hell out of them. Theywere her gang after that.
Choosing a favorite is terrible!I've got so many characters in this story and I love all of them. Ithink Tungsten is one of my favorites because he's just such a wellmeaning sweetheart, but he never seems to catch a break. I enjoywriting Mercury, simply because he's a loud and intense soul whotalks in dramatic monologue. And I suppose I like Fer a lot. He'sthe one that started the group. He seems very tough and cool, but hedoesn't really like himself at all. All his self-worth comes fromholding together his band of outcasts, who he consideres his adoptedkids (he'd only admit this under extreem stress).
A leastfavorite is even harder! I have a bunch of characters that I'dprobably hate in real life, but I enjoy writing them. My leastfavorites right now are Espen and Nicholas, two of the rivals of theElements, but that's simply because I haven't yet put that mucheffort into to them. My favorite part of my whole project isthe characters, really. I'm not that good at plot, though I amtrying, but I really enjoy having these eleven characters interact, bond and fight and bicker. I also love creating the world aroundthem. I like playing with history and casually incorporating realpeople or events. I also worked hard on making the magic in thisworld very tangible (it's translated, so it sounds a little rusty):
'Magic swirled thick as fog abovethe Thames. Though Tungsten could not see it, only able to feelthe current the way you just smell scents and hear noice, he imaginedit as an endless amount of golden dust, dancing without any relationto the wind.'
and 'The magic lay beneath hisfingers, a piano, ready to be played.' I’m sorry, this got a little out of hand. If you are interested, please come and talk to me about it more, or tell me about your own projects! (I’m still up for making aesthetic moodboards for OC’s).
Thanks for the invitation to ramble! Come drop by on my blog/in my inbox anytime, I’d love to hear about your projects. I’m writing a historical fantasy, set in England around 1800. It’s about a band of traveling artists/magicians, each of them having left their homes and joined the group for their own reasons. I follow a couple of them throughout the story as they slowely split up because 1) Tin, a girl with a gun named Charley and the temper of a wargod, gets someone in prison per accident and goes on to attemp jailbreak 2) Silver, a lad pretending to be arrogant, leaves after a extensive misunderstanding and is taken in by a guy he is totally not falling in love with (spoiler: romance is the least of his problems) 3) Copper (sort of an asshole, but Silvers best friend) and Phosphore (she’s a godess, I don’t even know) go to find Silver but find quite something else and 4) Tungsten, the newest member of the group, tries really hard to understand himself, the world, and just to not fuck this up (spoiler: someone else fuck it up for him) I use this story to work with very different and diverse characters and I get to do a lot of historical research, so I really feel like I’m out playing and exploring!
I’m realizing as I see other writeblrs talk about their characters that I really don’t know what most of you are writing. (Or I did at one point and it’s hard to keep straight.) I’d love to become more familiar with your projects! I’m unfortunately an anxious introvert who’s too afraid to initiate conversations and I’m pretty sure the times I’m on Tumblr aren’t when anyone else is so I miss a lot of posts.
So I’m wondering if I could get all you writers to reblog this post and ramble about your characters? Or link me to a bio page for them if you have one? Or a page about your stories in general if you have that? If you want to, of course!
Please help out a curious person who stinks at talking to people. Even if we haven’t talked, I would love to hear your ramblings! 💚
You all have such lovely Noah’s! I would like to join your Noah squad, if possible! Here’s some info on my Noah: * 12 years old * Blond hair sticking up in weird directions and grey eyes. He has a yellow raincoat that he likes wearing and a black backpack with a never ending collection of rope, sketchbooks, broken pencils, gum, paperclips, a slingshot, old cookies and change. * Always running * Loves trainstations because they are full of colors and smells and people and noise and life. * Only child * Befriends a twenty-something art student by running into him, toppling him over and almost destroying his latest painting * Can be very serious and mature for his age * Can also be very silly * Firmly believes that popcorn and crips should be eaten together, at the same time
I see you also have a Noah! What's your Noah like??

Hey, this is probably a bit late, but I saw you commented on an ask that I sent in. (To a different blog) So... about writing cis/straight characters? I really don't know. I'm not lying... I've never made a good straight/cis character they all suck, cliche stupid and aaa (NOT CALLING CIS/STRAIGHT PEOPLE ANY OF THOSE) Help?
Hey, friend. Don’t worry - writing means getting into characters that are different from you and for accurate portrayel, asking is the best course! I think a good way to write a straight/cis character, is to consider what you like about your queer characters. Surely, there is a lot more to them than their sexuality or gender. They have backgrounds, goals, dreams and fears, family and hobbies and favorite music. Their sexuality/gender might be a part of them, but it’s definitly not all of them. If you want to make up a straight/cis character, do not focus on straight/cis. Just make a character. Did they grow up in a farm? Where they popular in high school? What was their dreamjob when they were six? Do they like vintage clothing? Do they understand social media and have they ever bought merchandise? Do they have any big regrets? What happened to them, that you are writting this story in the first place? Did they get in prison? Or out of it? There are so many things that make a character interesting or relatable, and sexuality and gender are only a small part of that. I have some more ideas about this, but I am not sure how to word them at the moment. If you are interested or have any questions, feel free to message me (I suppose I am not straight, by the way, but I am cis).
HI! can you tell me about your fave oc? or first oc, or both? Maybe 1,3 and 14 for the questions.
Thanks so much for the questions! (I amgetting around to your moodboard as soon as I got my other laptopback :')) I will assume Cultor was my first real OC, becauseit's a little unclear when this all started, but all the others Iremember where either very vague or just me with a different name. Ican hardly choose a favorite OC, so I will just take the maincharacter of my currect WIP (who I do love, so there's that) ^^. 1.What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering(name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?First OC: I think thefirst thing I considered about Cultor was his race. He's a characterfrom a fantasy, and I made up a population group that was sort ofmaginalized. They consisted of people that were 'mixed': half humanand half elf, one/fifth troll and three quarters dwarf, that sort ofthing. For this story I made up a specific mythical being, which wascalled will-o'-the-wisp but was somethingnot-quite-feary-not-quite-human. His father was a human, his mothersuch a will-o'-the-wisp. Favorite OC: The first thing I found out about Tungsten was his dislike towards leaving stuff behind. His father works in a antique store and hegrew up surrounded by things that had once been precious, but werenow broken, forgotten and gathering dust. He would rather live a lifeon the outskirts of society, leaving no traces.
2. How did you choose their name?First OC: Because I was eleven andstill believed all things have meaning, I looked up Latin words withtranslations that fitted Cultor as a person. If I remember correctly, his name means 'friend'. Favorite OC: Funny thing, becausethis whole story started with Tungsten's name and the names of histo-be friends. Sometime in the middle of high-school, I found this list in my chemistry book with theEnglish names of the first discovered elements. I am Dutch, so I didnot know these English names, and they struck me as quite beautiful. For some reason I thought they would make amazing stage names for agroup of traveling artists; the idea stuck, and here we are. 14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep inmind while working with your OC, what would those things be?FirstOC: Well, Cultor's father was the badguy (I was such an originalchild *ahum*), so his mental struggle about fighting his own dad waspretty important. The other would be his protective nature; he'sabout sixteen in the story, but he thinks himself quite an adult andhe is convinced he has to look out for everyone. Favorite OC:Tungsten's main goal is to find his place between the band of artistshe has just joined, so most of his actions are motivated by that.Further I think it's important to know that though he's quiet andshy, this never stops him from doing what he wants to do, tremblinghands and all. Thanks so much again!

Not sure if I technically count as a writing blog, but I’m all here for talking about wrting/OC’s and for making fan art for all of you writers out there!
I’m fairly new to Writeblr and want to get involved in the community. Reblog or like if you’re a writing blog!
‘Cause sometimes the stories of how OCs come to be are just as interesting as the OCs, themselves. Tell me how your virtual kids came into the world.
What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?
Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?
How did you choose their name?
In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?
Is there any significance behind their hair color?
Is there any significance behind their eye color?
Is there any significance behind their height?
What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?
Are they based off of you, in some way?
If they have an LI, how much of their character is tailored to be compatible to that person?
Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?
What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?
How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?
If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?
What is something about your OC can make you laugh?
What is something about your OC can make you cry?
Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?
What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?
What is your favorite fact about your OC?
I don’t know either of these cities, but let’s help out a fellow writer!
Heyooo!
If anyone here lives in Bangkok or Budapest, I’ve got short stories set in those cities but have never been to either and would love some outside wisdom! I’ve done lots of research, but assume I’m still making mistakes and want to get them shiny and factually correct before I start trying to publish.
I was unable to consult outside resources while the stories were still being handed in for workshop, but as they are both done their trips through academia, I’d love to make sure I’m getting all the details right.
1. Barefoot
Set in Bangkok
Protagonist is from Bangkok
Logline: A plan to steal a bag goes horribly wrong for two young brothers.
5763 words // 21 double spaced pages
POV: 1st person, present tense
Content warning: Violence/death (somewhat graphic), suicidal ideation (mild)
2. Dramatis Personae
Set in Budapest
Protagonist is a Canadian tourist
If you have travelled to Budapest but not lived there, that would still be helpful
Logline: An actress ends up stranded in a foreign country after she’s dumped and pick-pocketed while backpacking with her boyfriend.
6429 words // 25 double spaced pages
POV: 2nd person, present tense
Content warning: violence (mild), sexual assault (non-graphic, mentioned only briefly, happened before the story), strong language
Message me (or DM me on twitter @shaelinbishop if you prefer) if you have intimate knowledge of one of these cities and are willing to help a gal out! Both stories have been heavily revised and critiqued already, so I am not looking for proofreading, line editing, or content editing–only a fact check on setting. I’ll specifically mark places in the documents where I have questions or details I’m unsure of, but am open to corrections on any aspect. This should only require one read through and no longer than an hour (if that) so please don’t feel like you need to spend a lot of time on this or anything.
Also, please let me know if you have anymore questions about content warnings in the stories. I can block out sections for you if you like.
I would be happy to offer a line edit + critique on a chapter or short story in exchange!
Thank you guys so much!
I’m working on a request, but I didn’t take the right laptop with all the pics home for the holidays. So here’s a moodboard for my own Victoria, who’s dangerous, beautiful and painfully wrong.
Vane probably takes it a bit too far. He doesn’t dress up too much, just a long coat and a hat that paints a nice shadow over his face. He brings a real knife, though, because ‘everyone can see it when they are plastic, and nobody’s gonna be scared of that‘. Jack would appear as a clever pun or something generally witty. He’d, maybe, wear a neat suit, with clean white cuffs, a tie and a suitcase full of paperwork. We are all scared of mediocrity, aren’t we? He ends up having to explain his costume for the entire evening. Anne would do something classic. She comes as a witch, looking a little more elegant in a dress than any of them had expected (including herself). She threatens to bewitch people that get too close, and with her glower, nobody takes the risk.
So in a modern Black Sails au what would our favorite pirates and friends dress up as?

Good morning! If I were to request an oc and have a picture/art reference, would that and a short description suffice for a aesthetic request?
Hello, friend! That would be fine. Most useful for me are answers on question such as: ‘what do they enjoy?‘, ‘what are they fighting for?‘, ’what kind of personality do they have? Are they timid, brave?‘A general sense of the story (is it a science-fiction, horror, fantasy?), also helps. If I have any more questions, I’ll simply ask them!

can we send OC requests to you now? you seem back in groove. :)
I am! Life is pretty hectic at the moment (it always is), but since making aesthetics relaxes me, I am trying to do it as much as I can. There’s still quite a line, but send me all your requests and I promise they will get done!
--answer these however you like! some parts have multiple questions, you don't have to answer them all. you can answer for one OC or many, or askers can ask about a specific OC. approach them however you like. you can use these for character development exercises too. just have fun with it!--
