OKAY. im not going to be mean to the person who reblogged this, because you’re probably either young or misinformed. instead im just going to make this a message to the fandom as a whole, because this is literally straight up ableism and im tired of it lmfao

okay. papyrus is a grown adult, at the VERY youngest a teen probably about 16-17, and that’s if you TRY to make him younger but stick somewhat to canon.

papyrus is autistic-coded. i am autistic, so im speaking based on my own experiences, everyone is different.

autistic people have a history of being infantilized/babied by allistic (non-autistic) people. why? because autistic people are ‘less knowledgeable’ about the world.

people find it cute when we don’t pick up on social cues, or cute when a joke flies over our head. they’ll tilt their head and go, ‘oh, don’t worry about it’. they’ll treat us like we’re dumb, that we simply don’t know things.

papyrus is autistic coded (and coded quite well imo). hidden intent flies over his head, he doesn’t quite grasp that other people want to cause harm, or their reactions to something (see: undyne’s reaction to him giving her another bone). he can take care of himself.

he is an adult who swears, he is an adult that supports himself. ‘his brother pays the bills’ and papyrus is the one to cook/buy groceries (though sans mostly goes to grillby’s), clean up the house, he take care of his brother as much as his brother takes care of him.

‘but papyrus needs sans because-‘ and sans needs papyrus, that’s their whole thing. they’re dependent on each other, and they make sure the other is happy. papyrus encourages him to take care of himself and work (even if he’s a bit harsh), and sans supports them both financially and supports papyrus in his interests. sans is a wreck without papyrus didnt the fandom like all simultaneously decide that. that sans can’t function without papyrus.

‘what about the fluffy bunny book and the race car bed’ fluffy bunny is a routine. autistic people love routine. he reads complex books too did you forget. he reads manuals about traps and how to make them. fluffy bunny is a comfort to him just like how childhood stuffed animals are comfort to you.

and for your information the racecar bed is sick. ITS FUCKING AWESOME MAN. who wouldn’t want one. the underground is fucking depressing, having a bed that mimics one of his dreams (to ride a red car) is the best he can hope for. that doesn’t mean he’s a child, it means he’s a guy trapped underground. besides what is wrong with having childish interests. i still eat chicken nuggets and smile fries and watch cartoons, but i still say fuck and have a job. i am not a child, but i enjoy childish things.

anyway yeah. papyrus is an adult, he drives a car for fucks sake in the epilogue. the fandom as a whole needs to stop treating him like a kid, it makes me and many other autistic people heavily uncomfortable. that’s all <3
