1. Imagining And Visualizing Are Quite Similar, But Imaging Things Is A Lot Less Restricted By The Way

1. Imagining and visualizing are quite similar, but imaging things is a lot less restricted by the way our universe works. You can imagine a unicorn and a cat having a tea-party in your front yard, but it's not going to happen. As long as your intentions are strong and clear, it shouldn't matter if you have a clear picture in your mind or not. I have the same issue, don't stress.

2. Of course you can! Sabbats observe seasonal changes, and anyone is allowed to celebrate that! You can do and take pieces from the celebrations if you'd like to make them your own, and have a special meaning to you. Even non-witches can observe new seasons and equinoxes!

3. No, if people focus too much on the materials rather than their purpose in your craft, there probably spreading false information.

4. Of course you can! In fact, most witches do. You're practicing your craft, a journey your spirit guides should be helping you on. It's not disrespectful at all!

5. I worship Aphrodite too! Yes, you don't need to make Aphrodite your patroness to worship her or dedicate facials to her. Back in Ancient Greek times they worshipped gods and goddesses and asked for help and guidance but never necessarily worked with them.

6. It can, but you don't need to label yourself or your craft and limit yourself because something that interests you defies the stereotype. Do your research on what you're drawn to and go from there. I'm a green witch, I've found that "label" suits me best as I've always liked plants and the idea of faeries living in my backyard.

7. I completely understand! Don't stress. Personally, I write whatever I'm thinking about down before a meditation session. Like "What am I going to eat for dinner?". Then I can think about these thoughts afterwards.

Questions from a baby witch to the more experienced witches out there

Ok so hii, i have some questions i need help with. Some of them might be cause i still need to read and learn but i still want to know lol. I’ve only been into this beautiful world of witchcraft for around 7-8 months.

Also english is my second language, if you dont understand something let me know and i’ll try to explain myself better!

1. Whats the actual difference between imagining and visualizing? Cause i can imagine things easily but i can’t actually like see, for example, the circle im casting.

2. Can i celebrate beltane, yule, ostara etc even if im not pagan/wiccan? Of course im not trying to offend anyone by asking this! I genuinly want to know, cause i’ve read that these celebrations are from closed cultures/religions but i’ve also seen people out of those cultures/religions celebrating them and im lost.

3. Is it true that runes have to be made put of wood? I read a girl saying that if they’re made out if other materials they won’t work as they should and i want to be sure before buying them.

4. Is it ok if i have my tarot readings on my altar? I have kind of a scarf (its not an actual scarf) on my altar that i use to lay my cards and practice. I always cleanse the space but i wanted to know if it’s ok and not disrespectful? I also have my spirit guides candle there for worshipping and a warding/protection spell jar just to be sure

5. Can i worship a deity without working with them? I’ve asked this before lol but i just want to be really cautious. I really like Aphrodite, im an esthetician so when i give myself a facial treatment i dedicate it to her lol. Could i have things for her on my altar?

6. Does knowing what kind of witch you are take a long time? I know i have a long way to go and a lot of time ahead of my to figure it out, i just want to know from someone’s experience :) im kinda into divination though. Is there a way, besides practice, to know what my gifts are?

7. Meditating sometimes its hard for me cause i cant stay still and i have a thousand thoughts per minute. Any tips for this? I try focusing on my breathing and do guided meditations but my mind always ends up drifting away and its very hard for me to concentrate

Thanks in advance and i hope i dont offend anyone!!!!

Hewo!

This seems really cool and I have a possible answer for you. Does this place give you a sense of comfort? Do you find yourself drawn to this place for a plant, animal or object? Do you feel like you've been there before? Do you get some sort of euphoria being there?

Theory:

This place could potentially be significant to your past self. Recently I've been looking into my past life, and I'm almost certain I was among the six deaths in the 1986 Michigan flood. I've seen photos which actually look like a dream I had. I've never been to America, but I feel really drawn to the eighties; the fashion, lifestyle, ect.

I'd look up any phobias you have. I have a fear of large bodies of water and not being able to move. I was lodged under a car during the flood, therefore dying. Any phobias may relate to the way you passed. I'd also research any deaths near that area. You might feel a sensation in your gut, that tells you "Hey, that was you".

I hope this helped!

Question for the witch community: why do I feel a like physical pull to a certain place? I don’t know why but for my whole life I’ve felt a like literal longing to stay in this one particular place and I have no idea why, anyone have any answers?

the fool: Moss Moss, a nickname I was given from my unhealthy obsession with flora.

the magician: No, I've never done that and hope that I never do. The lyrics would be great, don't get me wrong, but the voice? I hope no one ever needs to hear my singing voice.

the high priestess: My dream date would be a picnic by a creek, where I bring along assorted pastries and jams, and then later we do a ritual under the full moon.

the empress: I have autophobia, so I hope so.

the emperor: Tanzanite, Belladonna, Andromeda, Selene, Nyx; a few names of witchy or Greek origin.

the hierophant: Yes and no, I believe souls of the deceased can go wherever they choose; to watch over people, to reincarnate, to go to another world. When I said "yes and no" it's because I don't like to think of them as ghosts, rather spirits.

the lovers: If we're talking celebrities, yes, many. If we're talking real life people, I'm trying to get over someone.

the chariot: My thoughts on astrology are that you take what resonates with you. While it may not be backed by science, I think astrology can be quite accurate, and it has been most of the time in my life.

strength: My dream occupation is to become a radiographer, whilst perhaps starting up an occult business on the side.

the hermit: As in fizzy drinks? I don't honestly have a preference, I drink tea, whether it be hot or iced.

wheel of fortune: Once Upon a Dream by Lana Del Ray, Sisters of the Moon by Fleetwood Mac and My Girlfriend Is a Witch by October Country.

justice: I like bicolour roses, like Tudor roses.

the hanged man: I think you can judge pretty accurately the type of person I am when I tell you; the Lord of The Rings soundtrack by Howard Shore.

death: Love somebody, buy a house somewhere rural and start a family of little Pagan witches!

temperance: I have some whacky dreams, but I'll tell you one. I was relaxing near a building, much like a clubroom for a sports team, and then there was a giant wave that flooded everywhere. I was sprinting to safety, which was a collection of small yellow buildings and a few eucalyptus trees, and then my legs stopped working and I fell to the ground, screaming and crying. Then a red-headed woman came up to me and told me that waking up was going to be the easiest way of surviving and that she envied me.

the devil: Of course, even when I was a child I had a fascination with them.

the tower: Blues, which bring out my eyes. My father (who I no longer see) and myself are the only people in our family with blue eyes, so I enjoy wearing colours that bring them out.

the star: No, I haven't.

the moon: No, I haven't.

the sun: Of course, do you really think people are that creative to invent stories about witches and hags?

judgement: I enjoy learning and educating myself, becoming more intelligent. And as I said, I'm an autophobic person, I need to be around a person loyal to me.

the world: Yes, I mean how many sunrises can you witness in your lifetime?

☀️🌙✨ tarot questions ✨🌙☀️

the fool: do you have any nicknames? the magician: have you ever written a poem or song about somebody else? the high priestess: what is your dream date? the empress: do you think you will ever get married? the emperor: what are some names that you like? the hierophant: do you believe in ghosts? the lovers: do you have a crush? the chariot: thoughts on astrology? strength: what is your dream occupation?  the hermit: what is your favorite soda pop? wheel of fortune: first three songs that come on shuffle? justice: favorite color of rose? the hanged man: favorite movie soundtrack? death: what are three things you want to do before you die? temperance: can you describe a strange dream you’ve had? the devil: do you enjoy thunderstorms? the tower: favorite colors to wear? the star: have you ever seen a psychic? the moon: have you ever written a love letter? the sun: do you believe in magic? judgement: do you enjoy school? the world: do you like waking up early?

fadingskies' guide to: Sigils

Fadingskies' Guide To: Sigils

So, what are sigils?

Sigils are symbols used commonly by witches to change or alter a situation, way of life or bring new things in. Sigils can be an effective way of manifestation or protection. Sigils are symbols charged with the intent of the person who uses them.

How can I make sigils?

There are numerous methods to create sigils, but I'm going to share my preferred method and the one I choose to use. You will first need to start out by coming up with a strong intent for your sigil. It works better if your intent sounds as if you already have it. Instead of "I will be protected" try to use "I am protected from all who wish ill upon me or my loved ones". Notice how the last one was in present tense and was very specific about the sigil's purpose. I tend to cross out all vowels and repeating letters, as it makes the sigils easier to draw and less complex, but you can do whatever you'd like. Next you should look up "numerology alphabet chart" in images, which will come up with a chart with number and letters. Match the letters from your intent to numbers, and write them all down.

Now with the numbers, here comes the drawing, fun part. You'll next want to make a circle with the numbers 1-9, the order can be however you'd like, personally I just do them in their standard order. With the numbers, you can use them like a guide to a dot-to-dot, but that's really all sigil making is. A powerful dot-to-dot. Connect the numbers in order, and now you have a sigil. If you feel it looks a little bland, you can decorate your sigils however you'd like. I like doing mini-triangles in the corners, dashes through lines, circles on corners, ect. Your sigils are your own, have fun with it!

Where can I put sigils?

Anywhere! You can put your sigils wherever you'd like! I have sigils nearly everywhere in my house; my wardrobe (my wardrobe is kept in the corner of my room, before starting my witchcraft journey I was always getting bad vibes from my wardrobe), my pantry (I am sick of ants or the rats my cat brings in devouring my food!), my bookshelf, my bed and my desk (I want to bring productivity and intelligence to that area of my room).

Blessed Be, my little witchlings

fadingskies' guide to: Cleansing

 Fadingskies' Guide To: Cleansing

So, what is Cleansing?

Cleansing is a gentle form of the removal of energies. Cleansing removes unwanted energies latched onto objects, people or spaces and purifies. Witches use cleansing before spells or rituals, to clean the vibe from new objects in their lives or to get rid of any bad vibes.

How can I cleanse?

You can cleanse using whatever method calls out or works for you, as your craft needs to be tailored to your boundaries, interests and intuition. Here are some popular methods:

Smoke cleansing - Smoke cleansing uses bundles of dried herbs or flowers, or incense

Sound cleansing - Sound cleansing uses bells, windchimes, singing bowls, high vibrational songs or just songs you find powerful that can radiate good vibes and remove old ones

Cleansing sprays - Cleansing sprays can be sprays made of Florida Water or essential oil

Essential oils - Essential oil cleansings can be using a diffuser with essential oils, using a cotton ball and wiping surfaces down or creating a cleansing spray

Crystal cleansing - Crystal cleansing uses crystal by walking around and through spaces with crystals or putting crystals in set locations.

Salt - Salt can be sprinkled or scattered around a place to purify it

Water cleansing - Water cleansing uses tap or charged water to cleanse a space, you can use it in a diffuser, pour droplets in certain places or spray it

Fire cleansing - Fire cleansing uses the element of fire to cleanse a space, you can use a candle or ashes

Lemon wedges cleansing - Lemon wedge cleansing is by far my favourite, coat several lemon wedges in salt, catch the bad vibes and dispose of them, when the shrivel up

Is there anything important to note?

Yes, there is! Never use anything from another culture that you have not been welcomed to; whether it be a spell, ritual, holiday, plant or music. Plants like white sage and palo santo are not to be used by anyone outside of the culture they are sacred to. Also, please note, your are "smoke cleansing" if you aren't Native American. Don't say "smudging" please, don't piss me off.

And like all areas of witchcraft, the root of cleansing is the intent. Anyone can throw salt in every direction or wave a smoking stick around, but to truly drive away negative energy you need to intend for your choice of cleansing to do just that.

Blessed Be, my little witchlings!

Why I Started My Practice

Hewo! So, my practice started when I was being harrased by a whole group of sparrows seemed to be following me and hovering over my house. That was the beginning of it. They'd tap on my window, fly overhead when I was outside, but they disappeared on a Friday.

The next thing that started happening was I kept seeing figures and/or voices wherever I was. I once sat in my room one evening and then a tall shadow figure stood at the end of my bed and started sprinting away when I looked at it.

I also then started having weird dreams, dreams that were generally about me before something really bad happened and people in these dreams knowing who I was and urging me to leave this place because I was the one person who could escape. That was why I started my practice.

How I Started My Practice

What I began doing when I started my practice was putting eggshells near entrances to my room, making protective jars and a banner to hang above my bed saying things such as "I am protected" and "I am safe and prosperous", while researching. These sort of paranormal occurrences had been happening for years, I'd have dreams that would come true, I'd remember things from when I was really young that didn't make any sense because I shouldn't have been able to remember and I remembered silhouettes of tiny people and I'd lose things frequently. So I decided, I'm going to protect myself from whatever this is, because it's obvious they're feeding off of it.

And then I find out about numerology and astrology and I was born on a SUPER MOON?! from my sister, so the dots were finally adding up.

Tips From A Witch

If you're going to enter witchcraft, please do your research because my belongings getting lost, things popping up in random places, SILOHUETTES OF TINY PEOPLE were actually the Fair Folk and if I accepted those gifts I was going to be in some big trouble. If you're wondering what to research I strongly recommend researching:

-Your ancestry. It may help you find out what they were drawn to and give you a place to start sculpting your path. I have a Celtic background, so my path would be slightly different from someone of African descent. This also can help you find out what practices you are welcome to or not.

-Your birthchart. I think looking up your birthchart is a really great way of discovering things about yourself and it's cute to see how compatible you are with people. For example, as a Taurus, I have heaps of Virgo and Cancer friends.

-Protection wards, sigils and spells. My main problem that brought me to witchcraft was the fact I was allowing things that weren't human to latch themselves onto me and I couldn't protect myself from them.

-Methods of cleansing. If something does come in or you just get bad vibes know what works for you to fix it.

-The different paths. Find out what kind of witch you want to be!! I'm a green witch, so I like plants and vibing in moss because that's me, and you need to find you! Don't feel as if you have to work only within that label, because hey, I am so intensely fascinated by dead things, corpses and just death in general, because I was seeing ghosts and felt entities presences all the time. That doesn't sound so much like a green witch, but that doesn't mean I can't do it. Find out what interests you, shape your practice for you.

Blessed Be

Witches, how did you start your practicing?

I am feeling very called towards witchcraft and I would really appreciate if someone could give a tip.

Thankyou!

fadingskies' guide to: Warding

 Fadingskies' Guide To: Warding

So, what are wards?

Wards are protections set up by a practitioner to prevent negative entities from invading a space or draining/harming the practitioner. Wards can take many forms and can be permanent or just temporary. The difference between cleansing and warding is that cleansing removes unwanted energies, whereas warding prevents them.

What are the different types of warding?

Warding can be done through three different methods. The first is trapping; meaning to capture or "trap" a negative entity. Circumventing is the second; to divert negative energies and entities away from a space. Lastly is filtering; separating good, positive energies and entities from ones that are negative with ill intent. There also the different types of uses for wards. Some wards can protect places and spaces, while others can be carried around with the practitioner to protect them specifically.

How can I ward?

You can ward using just about anything, as warding is a form of protection and witchcraft is entirely based on how you interpret it to be. Make sure you cleanse beforehand, and charge your preferred method with your intent of protection. Below I will list however, popular methods for warding:

Circles - Circles meaning a physical (using salt, chalk or other) or visualized boundary to enclose energies (like the powers and energies for a ritual) or to keep and divert other energies away.

Candles - Candles charged with the intent of protection are good wards. Personally, I like to rub my candles in oil and lather them in protective herbs, I think it just boots the affect of the ward.

Décor - You can use items that are commonly used for decoration as a way of protection. This can be a tapestry, an embroidered piece of art, a cute little jewelry dish, literally whatever you can charge to be a ward and serve as protection will work!

Plants - Plants serve as great wards, and are super helpful to have around as they have many assigned properties. This form of ward can be planted in the earth or in a pot.

Sigils - Sigils are great forms of wards, and can be written on different medias, have other uses aside from warding and they look super cool as well (not that witchcraft should be practice because it's aesthetically pleasing)

Waters - You can use charged waters to help ward a space.

Dirts - Different dirts from different locations can be used as wards. As most of my family have been cremated, I don't use graveyard dirt in my practice as I find it disrespectful to take from those I don't know without consent. I prefer to use the muddy water near a stream by my house, where flora and fauna is abundant and I feel most welcome.

Crystals - Crystals can be used to ward spaces

Spell bottles - Spell bottles can trap, circumvent and filter negative energies, which is why I love this method so much. They're portable and they're small and easy to hide if you're still tucked away in the broom closet.

Blessed Be, my little witchlings!
