Palestine Designs

Here is a small sample of the designs I am raising money with. I have 55 works in my collection so far with more being added constantly (there are two waiting for Redbubble's approval right now). I'm making a point of keeping a broad variety of styles so there's something for everyone.

As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from these designs are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. He is the nicest person ever and he deserves so much better than this.

As always EVERYTHING I EARN from my shop is for my best friend, a Palestinian grad student living in America. The money is sent home to support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.

Does anyone know where this quote comes from originally? I see variations of it around a lot and a lot of disagreement on the source. I incorporated it to my latest design shown above, found here.

He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with.

Just got another design approved! A little dove wrapped in a keffiyeh.

ALL PROCEEDS from Palestine related sales through my Redbubble shop will go to my Palestinian best friend to help him bring his girlfriend over to America. Any left over will be used to help his family/other loved ones affected by the war. He’s an incredible person. Kind, altruistic, a genius scientist, passionate activist and all around the best person I have ever met. He deserves so much better than all the horrible things happening right now.

Palestine Designs

For those who haven't seen my posts yet, my best friend (the best person I have EVER known) is Palestinian, and a lot of his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. ALL PROCEEDS from these designs will go first and foremost to helping his girlfriend afford to join him in America safely, and after that helping his other loved ones weather this war.

These two doves with keffiyehs have been my most popular designs so far. Thank you to the customer who bought the latter on a pin today, and thank you to everyone who has contributed so far! I also have a couple variants on the second dove waiting for Redbubble's approval, I will post those when they appear.

We're hopeful that the ceasefire will mitigate the harm being done to my friend's family going forward. He's already had some loved ones hurt that this money can help so for now I will continue the fundraising (plus we do not feel safe hoping that the ceasefire will last, unfortunately). For now his girlfriend has remained safe and financial planning for her trip here is going okay. Most of his immediate family is okay (extended family and friends not entirely so unfortunately). I will keep these updates somewhat vague to protect their privacy. We greatly appreciate all your help!

Palestine Bird Designs

One of the first times I spoke with my friend (the one I am fundraising for) about Palestine he spoke so passionately about how birds represent freedom to him, as they come and go over the walls at will. Israel has caused absolute devastation to Palestine's wildlife, cutting off migratory pathways for land animals and destroying habitats. Birds (though still hurt by habitat loss of course) can pass over the barriers. Watching them fly across the walls is a bittersweet thing for those trapped within them. The flight of birds has represented freedom to so many cultures, but there's a certain extra emotional poignancy that comes with the symbolism for people who are trapped by the same barriers that the birds traverse with ease.

Of course this is not the only reason I make so many bird designs, doves are a standard symbol for peace and I'm also absolutely obsessed with birds in general, but the way my friend told it was very touching and I wanted to share. My various bird designs have gotten a lot of attention the last few days, so I'll compile all my birds so far in one place here:

I made a new metal shirt design for my fundraiser, found here (the design is also available on stickers and other things). This one is going for an old school heavy metal aesthetic, I made a black metal style one a while ago too, found here.

ALL PROCEEDS from my shop are for my Palestinian best friend to help him take care of his loved ones. Music is a huge thing I bonded with this friend over. We met through labor organizing so the first album I ever showed him was Panopticon's Kentucky, he'd never heard metal before but took to it immediately. Our first time hanging out properly was a spontaneous night spent in his car showing each other songs after a union event. He introduced me to Umm Kulthum that night, we hung out until about 1 in the morning eating pizza and sharing our favorite artists.

I'd also like to take a moment to highlight one of my personal favorite Arabic language metal/hardcore bands, Znous from Tunisia. In addition to this wonderful album you can also try this song called "Rotzhey Yeladim (Children Killers)" from November. Bet you can guess what that one is about.
