Time to Study!
More of the blonde trio. Part of my Aoyama/Monoma traitor AU. Yes Aoyama is wearing a scrunchie and I’m mad no one appreciates his short long hair and hate how no one utilizes that detail lmao. I had the thought to draw this randomly and this is how I think they would react and and feel towards the actual “Student” part of the mission, in which they painfully have to actually put in an effort to pass their classes. Not Toga thoe, she’s out here balling, but not without consequence since Kurogiri has to teach her.💀
Aoyama def hates Iida’s teachers pet behavior and it sets his once happy day into an all nighter bc he prefers to procrastinate. Monoma also hates 2-A so bad bc they are all a lot more social than Aoyama’s class. He def has a ranking of most annoying in the class in his mind, he also tunes out during the lessons bc he’s an academic weapon and actually absorbs information pretty easily. Aoyama failing his classes was not planned and he actually gets scolded for it but it gives him an excuse to be in a study group and further observe and spy on his classmates. Toga on the other hand hates learning, specifically bc Kurogiri is the one teaching her and he ‘makes things too hard’. Lmao. She gets punished for not competing her work and rewarded when she does, so she basically gets what she gives🗿💀.
my little brain eating amoebas <3
The fact that Aoyama routinely does a Backbend does not Necessarily mean he has taken gymnastics, but I like the thought that he had lessons for a year or two as a kid and retains some of the knowledge.
fucking dumbass
The whole chapter, All Might is biding time while Anima fetches a massive external power source to fuel the laser beam. Meanwhile, AFO monologues smugly about conserving his power. Unlike Kamino, where All Might was the one trying desperately to conserve (quirk) power, All Might now has MANY options for power sources and it’s AFO who is scrambling to hold on.
AFO. IS. CRACKING?!?!?!? Look at his face!!!
The Spanish version references All Might’s “light” less as a “guiding light” for citizens that will be “snuffed out,” and instead says, “his divine light will disappear.” AFO isn’t making a mere death threat, he’s talking about legacy and telling All Might that his will not be remembered as a Symbol of Peace, but a Symbol of Impotence. The accomplishments that made “All Might” god-like will disappear in light of (haha) his poor showing.
The Spanish version also has All Might being more direct, saying “So I will illuminate the darkness so I can twinkle again” vs the more passive “Let there be light in the darkness so that I might twinkle as well.”
The ending panel LOOKS like All Might intentionally shot AFO and himself with the high powered laser beam. It LOOKS like he used himself as bait and sacrificed himself to “burn” AFO (which is funny because AFO has already been burnt to a crisp by Endeavor in this arc. I mean, just when Enji gets to surpass All Might by nearly killing AFO, Toshi’s comin’ in hot with his own navel laser-powered prominence burn). IMO Hagakure’s refraction is the key here (also the way she says, “took you long enough, hero!” and she’s talking to Aoyama but also Toshi). I’m certain Toshi has some kind of shield to refract the blast away from himself, so his actions will reflect the dream he’s pursuing. (Or he could have a safety blanket like the one Momo made at USJ to protect the heroes from Kaminari’s blast.
Remember in the provisional exam, Aoyama was going to sacrifice himself to help Iida pass. But too many others from 1A showed up too quickly to help fend off attackers, and in the end Aoyama and Iida secured the last 2 passing spots.
Easter egg 1: I think this tiny image in the final panel I s Hercules (or what’s left of Hercules?) You can’t see this car at all in the English version but you can in others.
Easter egg 2: The building sign here sure looks like it says “gusoku hero,” which is hilarious because gusoku means “armor!”
let it be here (I initially didn't want to post, BUT OKAY)

Some self indulgent Hanahaki Erasermic (well, implied erasermic) because I wanted to try out some brushes in CSP and because I love Hizashi’s hair too much.

UA traitor
And that traitor is Aoyama Yuga.
Aoyama is kind, a little cowardly, but still a brave boy who wants to be like all his peers. He wants to shine! And after Kamino, after settling into a dormitory, after passing the exam for a temporary Hero's license, Aoyama revealed himself to us as a really interesting character, a young man who was really lonely, but who wanted to be with his classmates and be “his own” in this company. He wanted to have friends and enjoy the school hero life.
His first friend is Midoriya Izuku. (I don't want to repeat myself, so please read these notes: Deep Water, Traitor, Dream (the last part of the article). And we see how for a long time Yuuga and Izuku have been building friendly relations with each other: they are neighbors, when Izuku's quirk was activated in chapter 193, Yuuga ran to check on him; or when during a Cultural Festival Yuuga was worried about Izuku being late, and then helped him prepare for a performance; or at common evenings they sit next to each other and communicate. These two are really close and worried about each other.
However, something changed with the jailbreak of Tartarus. Aoyama Yuuga became nervous and fearful. When the guys decided what they would do and how to look for-to return Midoriya back, Aoyama suggested leaving everything to Adults, professionals. Do you see how his bubble with the text is shaking? Why is he nervous? Why does he not want to participate in the “rescue of Midoriya Izuku” - his dear friend, whom he himself wanted to be friends with, whom he worried and cared about?
But in any case, he took part in this rescue operation, and ran along with Hagakure and Kirishima, and when Kirishima said “I have something to say”, he just said “oui”. But he. He didn't say anything to Izuku, he was standing far away from him, not daring to approach. All the guys from the class said something to Izuku, only Aoyama was silent (even Hagakure asked how the guys were feeling after landing.)
And then we see several panels where he keeps to the side and carefully avoids being near Izuku. And it looks very interesting, especially at the moment when Hagakure talks about the “cool defense of the UA barrier”. He has his back turned to us and to Izuku all the time, we don't see his face at this moment.
Why isn't Aoyama happy? Why didn't he talk to Izuku? Why didn't he want Izuku to return to UA?
Because he - as a traitor - will now need to let the villains inside the UA Barrier or in some other way contribute to the fact that Izuku was handed over to Afo.
It is also worth noting that at the closed exhibition held this spring, there was a very interesting illustration that symbolizes a sense of guilt. Why should Aoyama blame himself? Take a closer look at this illustration.
He is sitting on boxes near the opening doors, from where the monster is crawling, and bottles are scattered around, there are some gas(?) cylinders, some things. Can this tell us that this is an allusion to some kind of storage room, where there is a secret entrance, and since now the UA resembles a fortress ready for a siege, then this room is one of its weak points? After all, things and provisions in case of a siege must somehow arrive (I'm thinking about underground communications) and be stored somewhere. And Aoyama will be the one who will be the gap in the UA Barrier.
He avoids his dear friend, he keeps away from everyone, and he feels guilty. Why? Because he is the Traitor on behalf of All For One.
And this was also hinted to us on the spine of the cover for volume 10: usually a smiling and beaming boy, looking for recognition, looks nervously to the side. For the volume is called “All For One”.
And if Aoyama Yuuga is really a traitor, then we are waiting for a heartbreaking drama between him and Izuku, whom Yuuga will betray first, and then sacrifice himself for him. After all, he just wanted to be like everyone else and shine.
Me: It's been, like, three years since the traitor theory was brought up and there's still nothing new about it. Maybe Hori really forgot abou-
