hey, I struggle with severe anorexia, everyday I look at tiktok/twt/tblr and see these skinny girls and all i can think about is "how long do I have to starve to be like them?" it's really on-off, but I'd like nothing more than to be free from this disorder and finally see my body without a male societal influence.

I am a lesbian, but I still feel this urge to live up to impossible standards.

I wanted to ask you your feminist/radical view on this, it may help to finally snap out of it. It's okay if you don't answer, I love your blog !! 💖

I've never personally struggled with an ED so it might help if someone who has can share their thoughts. I've definitely been in the boat of feeling ugly, being both skinny and fat in my life and so on.

I'd definitely suggest looking into body neutrality mindsets and distance yourself from communities or people encouraging ED. Blocking accounts, tags, etc is not bad at all! The good thing about all of those sites is you can curate them.

Try positive affirmations as well, and talk to yourself the way you'd talk to a friend.

I worship the Greek Pantheon.

I know that lightning happens when there are more electrons in the clouds then there are protons on the ground and that it strikes randomly. I can still believe that Zeus guides it down on its way from the sky.

I know that earthquakes happen due to the shifting teutonic plates grinding against each other. I can still that Poseidon shapes where and how they strike.

I know that the moon and sun rise and set because of the earth's rotation. I can still believe that Helios and Selene are the Moon and Sun and that Apollo and Artemis guide them.

I can know the science and reasons behind how the world and humans work, but I can still believe that the gods and goddesses hold sway over the earth just like the modern religions can. Just because my religion is older and worships more gods and goddesses does not mean that it is less valid.

fuck it. shout out to "high functioning" neurodivergents

the ones who can mask easily, the ones who can get social cues, the ones who have managed to go most of their life not even knowing they were ND because they didn't present as the stereotypical ND person.

the ones who can pay attention in class, understand social etiquette, who understand societial expectations

the ones who don't feel neurodivergent enough bc they don't struggle in the same ways/areas a lot of NDs do, or they can't relate to other NDs' experiences because they always understood these things easily

the ones with high empathy, the ones who DO get the joke, the ones who are constantly told that they can't possibly be neurodivergent because they don't act like what you'd expect a neurodivergent person to act like.

you are neurodivergent enough. you are valid, and so are your experiences. not struggling as much as others do in some places doesn't mean you dont struggle at all. your condition and diagnosis is valid. your symptoms are valid. YOU ARE VALID. not checking all the supposed boxes doesn't mean you aren't neurodivergent. you are enough. you are valid. you are loved. you are valued. you matter. you belong in neurodivergent spaces, you deserve to use whatever resources are available to you, you are allowed to take up space in these communities. and i am so, so proud of you.
