YOU KNOW YOU’RE TOO INVESTED WHEN YOU MAKE AN ANATOMICAL STUDY OF A FICTIONAL SPECIES FROM A VIDEO GAME.
So I was bored (read; procrastinating) and decided to study Koroth? The Draken are supposed to be an elite hunter species but Wildstar anatomy (or at least how I butchered Koroth in the character designer) doesn’t necessarily support the idea. So I tried my best to figure out how?
If you want to read my text wall of stuff, hit that readmore because HOO BOY
A disclaimer though:
This is all headcanon btw and should not be taken for like an actual guide or law or whatever. This is just me spitballing I know jackshit about animal/human anatomy outside some in depth science and art classes. I am not a doctor/anthropologist/forensic thing whatever.
I would assume most draken have evolved to have a heavier brow, or at least the pronunciation of such. Which are attributed to fatty tissue pockets/deposits, both for need for sturdiness when fighting or attacking, using force to headbutt and survivability purposes, as an assist in adjusting to light, possible backup energy supply in case of malnutrition/dehydration, impact cushion, etc.
They seem to have flatter skulls, which would be mildly detrimental but the bone is definitely denser in the forehead and jaw-- which is high arcing and heavily lined with movable muscle tissues for movement range and strength. Good biters. Not like in the range of jaw movement of an alligator, but maybe closer to a pitbull or large wild cat. Due to the oblong shape of the skull, the bone has to be denser in order to prevent undue stress and injury to the brain from various impacts and traumas. Now when looking at some real world comparisons of skulls, I found that the best suited models were a cross between a gorilla/orangutan skull in brow shape and ridge size, and the early model of the Homo Ergaster, which is an early flat faced, vocalizing hunter-gatherer hominid originating form the African continent several million years ago.
Nose!! Dependent on the structure (since the character generator does allow for some biodiversity), the Draken are okay-ish for scenting things. Probably better than most playable species in the Wildstar Universe. However as far as elite hunting species go, I could arguably say that the Draken would not be the best bloodhounds due to low/average nasal cavity depth. The bridge is mostly bone and muscle, with a very very short cartilage tip. Not a lot of room for any sort of scent receptors there and even then they’d have to be heavily condensed or their actual skin/fur/scale around the noses would be quite a bit more sensitive and prone to weakness.
(However now considering the skull it’s likely plausible....)
Eyes! Actual socket is very large, and houses possibly a decent sized eyeball, with a fair amount of muscle tissue and fiber around the area. Due to the fatty tissue deposit/pocket above the brow bringing a visual weight down around the area, the eyes do NOT look very functional, but in fact are quite acute. Whereas humans, we can see mostly sclera, iris and pupil on average in our own eyes, the draken have no visible sclera, it is enlarged iris and pupil which are excellent excellent excellent when it comes to hunting small and fast prey, and keen night vision. That however can vary dependent on the area of the Draken home world they or their family line extended from.
SO yeah! That’s a Koroth for ya. Have a gif.

Vasanti is @catbatart‘s Cassian
i got faNART TODAY
and i felt inspired by it to draw Anneve with different hair and as a Death Knight :3c
Sighs I’ve got a thing for characters with terrible traumas and big hair.
Another gift! This time it’s a Kelutra for @teechew
Bonus Karuk’s opinion on pretty orc girls with pet worgs:
I realize I’ve never posted a picture of Fallane and her brother?
This is Occo, her twin and older by three minutes. Unlike her, he is doing his civic duty as a holy paladin of the light.
Fallane just thinks he’s a massive nerd who stole her look.
Final piece from @studiozines Dungeonwatch Zine! This one was a fun one to work on.
i got really frustrated trying to draw warcraft stuff that i think im going to take a break from it altogether
so I decided to draw an oc ive been playing to use for a d&d campaign if ever one arises.
Her Lady, the Viscountess of Brevielle; Idonia Parthena Altamont IV, Sixth of Her Line, and Mother to the Late Archbaron Kaelyn (may he rest in peace).
GUESS WHO HAS A WIRED CONNECTION AGAIN Okay, clearer picture:
Somok Tuskkeeper (right); 33, Worg Trainer, widower, hobbyist carpenter, Local Hot Dad. Currently seeing @starcevic‘s Shovo. Trying hard to raise his daughter, Tuilu.
Tuilu (left); Pronounced Too-Wee-Loo. 17, really grumpy. Actually from Alternate Draenor, but came back to MU!Azeroth because why not. Isn’t sure what she wants to do in life yet, and the whole world possibly ending isn’t helping. Also very gay and unsure what to do about it.
