First Snow: A Blackwatch!Genji x Reader SFW Story

This wasn't a request, just something I came up with on my own to start things off. :) --- You stand from afar outside of the base, watching him. Clouds covered the sky, and snow fell from above; lightly at first, then gradually more intense. It was the first snowfall of the year, and if it kept up, it might stick. For Genji, this was his first time experiencing snow in this body. He was wearing nothing but a black hoodie over his cybernetics. This wasn't an issue for him, he normally didn't wear any clothing at all. He didn't perceive heat and cold in the same way anymore. He stretched both of his arms out and flexed his hands gingerly. In his left still flesh arm; he felt what he expected. Cold particles brushing against it and turning to water on impact, a growing feeling of numbness the longer he stood there. In his right cybernetic arm however, he only felt a muted sensation. The sensors in his arm were telling his brain that something was making contact with it, but he didn't have the same sensations of wet and numbness that his left did. He kneels down and sticks his whole right hand into the layer of snow forming at the ground and keeps it there. It is only after he doesn't pull it back out again after several minutes that you finally decide to approach Genji. "How long are you going to do that for?" you ask. He finally gets up and turns to face you. He isn't surprised by your question, he knew you were watching him the entire time. "Until I feel what I should be feeling." came the matter of fact reply. "Does it help?" you ask as he flexes his cybernetic hand several more times. He scoffs, and then suddenly grabs both of your hands and takes them into his own. You flinch and recoil from the sensation, the feeling of cold is overwhelming. Just how long had he been out here for before you found him?

He rolls his eyes, as if you had just asked a question with an obvious answer. "No, it doesn't. If I was normal, I would react as you did. But I don't feel things the same way you do anymore. I don't even feel your hands on mine the same way." You look down, unsure of what to say. Genji continues. "But that's the point isn't it? I'm not meant to feel. I was rebuilt to be a weapon. The less I feel, the easier it is to do my job." "Don't... don't talk about yourself like that, please..." you beg. It wasn't the first time he had spoken of himself like that. Every time he did, you hated it. Hated how he dehumanized himself like that. "It's the truth, and every day proves that more and more." he responds coldly. He turns and begins walking away. You stand there for a moment, then chase after him and wrap your arms around him, placing your head against the back of his faceplate. The cold metal sends chills down your spine, but you hold firm. "What're you doing?!" he demanded, but didn't move to break away. You move your right arm up and begin to stroke his hair. "Can you feel that?" you ask. "... Mostly." "And how does it make you feel?" "Embarrassed." You move your left hand over his chest, attempting to feel his heartbeat. You find it. A steady rhythm that grows faster the longer you keep your hand there. "Weapons don't have hearts, Genji. They don't have emotions. You do. That's how I know you're still human inside. That's how you know you're still human." There's a silence between you two. You move your right hand back down and place it over your left, so that both hands are now over his heart area. After a while, Genji raises his left human hand puts it on top of yours. "I feel lost." he begins; "On missions, it's easy, my anger focuses me on the task at hand. But afterwards, in the quiet, I feel like I lose a part of myself every time. Like there's nothing else." You say nothing.

He turns to face you. For the first time that day, you get a good look at his eyes. Normally Genji looked angry all the time. The red tends to do that. But when you're this close, you see something more. Pain. "Some days you're the only thing that reminds me I'm still human." he finishes. "I'll be there to remind you every day if you want me to. You're as human as I am; as anybody else here is. There's more to you than killing. You just have to find it again." That kind of just came out. You felt unsure whether that was what he needed to hear, but you notice the muscles in his face relax. "Thank you." he says quietly. You respond with a smile, but you're unable to hold it for long. The biting wind causes your teeth to start chattering. You look away, and then turn back when you hear a slight chuckle. "Did you just laugh at me?" you ask playfully. "Perhaps." he responds in kind. Your face drops into a slight pout.

"Come, let's get back inside, you must be freezing." he continues. He offers you his human arm, which you take, and he gently leads you back towards warmth. There will be other bad days, you're sure of that. But for today, you feel like you legitimately made a difference to Genji. And he's grateful for it.

Genji

Genji loves to go out, but in his Blackwatch era the days of arcade games and goofing off are at an all-time low

However, he loves to hike.

He feels in his time of getting used to a cybernetic body, he has lost touch with himself.

Being out in nature helps him find peace whereas being in Moira's lab cannot

He doesn't really camp and spend the night too often though with you he'll pack a couple hammocks and find a nice campground

He'll pull you in with him a set you in his lap and pull out a book all while having his arms around you

Occasionally if you're cuddled against his chest, he'll pull you up to kiss you, and he'll have his body cybernetics heat up to keep you warm if the day grows cold

Genji doesn't necessarily eat, but Angela made it so he's able to enjoy small amounts of food

This means S'mores!

He enjoys them, but he likes feeding you them and laughing at the chocolate and marshmallow mess on your face

you did the same to him and it was one of the first times you've heard him laugh whole heartedly and man was that a majestic feeling

On the side, another hobby he's picked up is wood carving

Genji loves to make little statues for you, whether it's of dragons or foxes and if you're lucky he'll make a little inscription

Doesn't really have technology, but he does own a Wii?

Wii sports date night with the cowboy who's weirdly good at Wii bowling

Cassidy jokingly calls himself a gamer, but even a junker with -1 braincell could see he's not

The moment you buy Mario kart Wii and beat him over and over he's on his KNEES begging to play something else

REFUSES TO PLAY RED DEAD REDEMPTION NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE GRAPHICS ARE

Like I said in other post, while He can't barbeque his specialty lies in making comfort foods like corn bread, BBQ beans, mashed potatoes, and a basic pan seared steak.

On days your sick he'll whip up a hot tomato bisque with some bread on the side

Cassidy would love if you'd join him in the kitchen, meal preparation is always a pain in the ass

Going out, another thing he likes to do is go to carnivals, though he hates rollercoasters of any kind

He just likes showing you all the cheats to the unwinnable games

Not because he's scared, he just gets sick on them very easy

If the day is free and slow, he's totally ok with chilling at home and holding you on the couch

Such a weeb, and you'll know it after many nights in her lab

Watches anime while doing trivial experiments or documenting her results and she'll have you right there with her

When she goes home, she takes you with her and in all honesty she way too tired to cook so expect some take-out and a bottle of wine

Dinner is usually pretty animated; home is a place where she feels open to talk to you about her frustrations and excitements and she knows you'll listen and take to heart what she says

Make-out sessions with wine-stained lips, moira's pretty saucy milf don't sass me anon

Her corrupted hand pains her though she doesn't show it in front of others

Having you near her helps distract her form the pain ahd you and turn just puts some heat packs in the microwave and hold them against her arm

Occasional affection, but not much and that mostly stems from her fear of hurting you

Won't hesitate to kiss you though

Long chess matches, she likes to play wits against wits

It's late at night and with the bags of fast food in his hand and a flashlight in the other he takes you to the top.

Once Gabe finds the spot, he finds the remnants of an old campfire and starts a fire and a couple worn plastic chairs are already set around the fire

You two are chowing down on fast food burgers and fries, and he reaches over with one arms and pulls you to his side

After finishing he puts out the fire and the stars become clearer than ever and looking over the cliff, the waves glow blue with bioluminescence

Gabriel smiles warmly at you and wraps an arm around your waist and brings his lips to yours

His kisses warm you up as the ocean breeze blows past the two of you

PUNTATA 4: DREADWING, nemico freddo come il ghiaccio

C’era una volta un freddo, gelido spadaccino che viveva in un sontuoso castello di cristallo. Guerriero combattuto, soleva meditare per vendicarsi del defunto fratello gemello, o per dargli una degna sepoltura o strapparlo dall’Oltretomba nonostante fosse ormai mutato in uno zombi. Sembra l’incipit di una fiaba fantasy ma in realtà è solo una delle numerose incarnazioni di uno dei Decepticon più carismatici della generazione moderna dei Transformers, anche se dovremo analizzare il soggetto in questione sotto un’altra ottica.

DREADWING (letteralmente “Ala del Terrore”) nasce, infatti, come la combinazione degli altmode di due Powermaster G1 del lontano 1988, Darkwing e Dreadwind. Poi questo nome è stato riciclato per indicare altri Decepticon nelle iterazioni TF più moderne, Movie-verso e Continuity Allineata in primis, senza alcun collegamento diretto con l’antenato originale. Di quest’ultimo, sappiamo solo che è composto da due Decepticon mercenari, il cui scopo di esistere è seminare terrore ovunque li porti il vento, salvo ritrovarsi sul pianeta Nebulos dove stringono un legame binario rispettivamente con lo scienziato pazzo Hi-Test e il ladruncolo Throttle: grazie alla nuova tecnologia Powermaster, i due Nebulani divengono così i loro motori, fornendo loro energia grazie ad una modifica del legame binario.

Oltre la G1 c’è un bel buco, dove il Decepticon ha collezionato solo comparse sparse un po’ in tutto il brand, come lo “pseudo-Combiner” della serie Robots in Disguise (2001) o il clone di Mirage in Energon della Trilogia Unicron, ma Dreadwing è diventato subito popolare in altre iterazioni. Nel Movie-verso, infatti, egli altro non è che il capitano di una squadra di cloni Seeker nella miniserie a fumetti Il Regno di Starscream, ambientato tra il primo e il secondo film... e questa caratteristica di “capo dei Seeker” verrà ereditata dalla controparte Prime nella Continuity Allineata, oltreché a uno schema di colori relativamente simili, cioè sui toni del blu e del nero, con inediti tocchi di oro e argento. In questo caso, gli sceneggiatori ci regalano non uno ma due Seeker uguali come due gocce d’acqua, descritti letteralmente come fratelli gemelli e retroattivamente come delle figure tragiche ma al tempo stesso fedelissime alla causa di Megatron, forse i pochi sottoposti ciecamente fedeli al Comandante stesso. Eppure il trucco c’è: uno è verde e si chiama Skyquakee l’altro è blu... il nostro Dreadwing, appunto! Entrambi sono apparsi nella sesta puntata rispettivamente nella prima (Maestri e Allievi) e nella seconda stagione (Cannone Sciolto), anche se il Seeker blu ha avuto più “screen-time” di suo fratello, quindi ci concentreremo su di lui.

Il Dreadwing della serie Prime è speciale fin dal doppiatore americano, Tony Todd, lo stesso del Caduto nel secondo film di Michael Bay, ma noi lo conosciamo con la voce di Giorgio Bonino, noto ai più per aver doppiato – tra gli altri – Animated Blitzwing. In secondo luogo, la sua caratterizzazione è tale che all’apparenza fa di lui un personaggio poco nelle corde di un Decepticon... anzi, non possiamo neanche definirlo malvagio, ma solo uno sfortunato antieroe stoico e meditativo munito di un rigidissimo codice d’onore quasi come fosse il “pronipote” del compianto e indimenticabile Beast Wars Dinobot (di cui ci occuperemo in una puntata futura). Sempre da Biocombat deriva il suo design generale molto reminiscente a Depth Charge, col quale condivide addirittura la combinazione casco blu/viso dorato/occhi rossi. Infine, a rendere Dreadwing un personaggio amatissimo dal pubblico è lo stile da samurai nella forma della testa, il fatto di essere equipaggiato con una spada e, ovviamente, una storia di redenzione alle spalle, alla stessa stregua di una fiaba fantasy.

Essendo un personaggio relativamente poco conosciuto, i modelli di Dreadwing si contano sulle dita di una mano, e per comodità indicheremo tutti quelli che portano questo nome. Il capostipite è ovviamente il jet formato dai due G1 Powermaster Dreadwind e Darkwing del 1988, la cui gimmik di combinarsi in altmode era all’epoca una novità a dir poco geniale. Nel 1994 il personaggio viene riproposto nella G2, e anche se il modellino originale non era un granché, le rivisitazioni moderne per la linea Transformers 2010 (un remold del Voyager Mindwipe della linea Revenge of the Fallen, disponibile esclusivamente al Tokyo Toy Show di quell’anno) e il Deluxe della linea celebrativa Generations Thrilling 30 del 2014 sono delle rappresentazioni moderne del Dreadwing “classico” più che accettabili! Se però dobbiamo per forza ricercare un modello che omaggi il duo Powermaster originale senza snaturarlo, bisogna allora menzionare i Deluxe della linea Power of the Prime (2017/18), anche se purtroppo sono solo dei remold di due Aerialbot della precedente Combiner Force (Air Raid per Darkwing e Skydive per Dreadwind).

Per quanto riguarda i modellini degli anni Duemila, solo quello di classe Megadella linea Energon può essere considerata una buona rappresentazione del Decepticon, anche se purtroppo l’action figure in sé era solo un mero remold di Mirage. Uno stampo tutto nuovo, invece, era il Deluxe della linea del primo film di Michael Bay, in cui lo vediamo come un Decepticon monocolo con l’altmode di MiG-29 Fulcrum, molto somigliante ai droni Seeker apparsi nel videogioco ufficiale del film. A completare la collezione è la triade di Dreadwing rilasciati per la linea Prime, rispettivamente un modellino buono, ottimo e mediocre: un Cyberverse Commander bello compatto in seguito ricolorato per fare Skyquake; un possente Voyager munito di una ridicola arma a LED, anch’esso in seguito riscolpito con le fattezze del fratello gemello verde; e infine un Deluxe per la sotto-linea Beast Hunters con un assetto più vicino ad una bestia che un robot umanoide, il cui stampo sarà riutilizzato per il Dreadwing della serie Takara Adventure, ossia l’edizione giapponese di Robots in Disguise (2015). Dal momento che la stagione 3 di Prime non è stata importata nel paese del Sol Levante, questo modellino potrebbe essere considerato come un erede spirituale per il nostro glorioso Decepticon, il cui ricordo sarà sempre vivo nelle nostre Scintille.

CONCLUSIONE

Questa storia di redenzione, onore e misticità mi costringe a paragonare Dreadwing e Skyquake – almeno in linea teorica – alla leggenda greca dei Dioscuri Castore e Polluce. Là dove il primo muore fatalmente in una battuta di caccia e il secondo prega il padre Zeus di cedere metà della propria immortalità affinché i due possano vivere alternativamente sull’Olimpo e nell’Oltretomba senza mai separarsi, qui invece la caccia di Dreadwing tanto del corpo del fratello quanto del suo assassino avviene risoluta e senza mai perdere la calma… salvo infine inalberarsi e sfogare il proprio dolore in un grido nella notte temporalesca in cui viaggia la Nemesi di Megatron. È una storia bellissima e commovente al pari dell’antenato Dinobot, e gli antieroi tragici hanno sempre suscitato un certo fascino in me. Indubbiamente uno dei personaggi più sfaccettati di tutta la serie Prime!

First Touch

I'm sorry I've been gone for weeks :( I've been touching on this every now and then and I still love Hazard and have many ideas. Work and school have been a big burden this month, but I've managed to finish this to a way I like it.

The party with the Phreaks was long, but felt quite short. There was alcohol but you had only taken a few sips. You still had to walk home after all.

The bustling laughter of Hazard, Jackdaw, and Boomslang was beginning to slow down. Touch-Up had discreetly begun gathering empty glasses and plates to place in the sink.

You were beginning to grow quite drowsy as well, but you really really didn't want to leave. You felt so at home with these people. Suzy was right when she told you it was like a family.

You didn't know how to "family" very well, but tonight felt really natural.

"Ey, Jackdaw, sit back yer face is 'bout to smack intae the table." Hazard smacked Jackdaw's shoulder lightly. They grobbled a laugh and swayed before Revel grabbed their shoulders and shoved their torso back against the chair.

"Actually, I miss my bed.." Jackdaw hummed, leaning their head to hang off the chair before gagging and jerking back up, "Oh nevermind I'm not doing that."

"I think Jackdaw needs their nappies." Boomslang laughed, taking one last swig of her drink. Jackdaw was too wasted to even respond to her, but their un-synced blinking was a good enough answer.

Revel sighed with amusement before standing up, "I'll get them some water and help them get to bed."

"Goodnight Jackdaw," You snickered, smiling at their own wobbly smile and lazy wave, "Are you going to come back out, Revel?"

"Nah, I think I've had enough socializing for the night." Revel helped Jackdaw to their feet.

"Well, Goodnight to you too, Revel." You said as he nodded at you, helping Jackdaw down the hallway.

"Are any of you getting tired, too?" Suzy asked.

"Only a bit." Boomslang responded.

"My usual sleep schedule has me going to bed in almost 2 hours." Touch-Up sighed, "I'll be the last one asleep, I think."

"Nah," Hazard yawned and leaned back to stretch, his shirt riding up just a bit- and oh fuck you were staring. You quickly looked away praying your face wasn't red. You hadn't noticed the glance Boomslang and Touch-up shared.

"I am," You sighed, "and I should leave before I get too tired."

"Eh? Yer leaving?" Hazard stopped stretching and looked at you.

You laughed gently, "Yeah, I have to go home."

"You don't- er, want t'spend the night?" Hazard cleared his throat.

Boomslang narrowed her eyes and looked at Touch-up, who had her brows raised. Hazard quickly glanced at them, trying to ask without speaking.

"Well I didn't exactly bring my toothbrush." You say, turning away to get out of the chair and hide your flushed cheeks.

'You're bad at this' Boomslang mouthed at Hazard, leaning back in her chair.

'Help me out here' Hazard mouthed back, glancing at you to see if you were still turned away before looking back at Boomslang. She only smirked in return, turning her gaze to Touch-up, who was no longer amused.

You turned back around once you had gathered your things. You barely saw Hazard snap his head back around to you, his face uncharacteristically you flushed. You suddenly felt very hot from awkwardness. A moment or two of silence left you and Hazard blinking at each other.

"Well! Me and Touch-up are gonna head to bed." Boomslang announced, resting her hand on Touch-up's shoulder.

"Wha-? I told you I don't go to be-"

"Yeah, she's really tired." Boomslang shushed her, turning her away by her shoulders. She leaned forward to whisper something in her ear. Touch-Up sighed begrudgingly before waving you goodnight and walking off.

"Goodnight you two! Have a safe walk home, Y/n." Boomslang said, following Touch-up.

You turned to Hazard before bursting out laughing. His face changed from quite worried to relieved.

"That was weird, why'd she do that?" You snorted, slinging your bag over your shoulder.

"I dunnae, Jackdaws shenanigans are rubbin' off on Boomslang."

You sighed, "Well, goodnight Haz, I had a lot of fun tonight."

"Wait," Hazard stopped you, standing from his chair. He cleared his throat, "Lemme, eh, walk ye home. It's nearly midnight."

"Really? You don't mind?"

"Nah, I like spendin' more time wi' ye." His voice became very gentle, and your face flushed deeply.

"It's cold out, and the walk is almost half an hour."

"I don't care, I want ye to get home safe." Hazard reassured you, making your heart thump in your chest.

Ugh, you were so head over heels. If you weren't standing in front of him you would have fallen to your knees.

He opened the door for you and walked beside you. At nearly midnight. In cold as fuck weather. The next 5 minutes were awkward and silent. You couldn't think of anything to say, and neither could Hazard.

"Why didn't you drink anything?" You suddenly spoke up. You turned your gaze from the sidewalk to look up at him.

"Oh, ah, I don't like it. Ma old man was an alcoholic... I like tae stay away from it." Hazard sighed softly.

Your brows furrowed, "I'm sorry."

"It's alright, I donnae mind telling you." He smiled at you, and you returned a smile of your own.

A couple more beats of silence. And then you- just- started speaking and you don't know where you got the confidence.

"I had a lot of fun tonight. I liked being with you all. I felt- I felt so at home. I felt so natural." Your throat began to tighten, and you took a deep breath to calm yourself. "I like being around you." You made eye contact with him again.

Hazard swallowed nervously, and you could barely see his flushed face in the dark. He was surprised, and very nervous. Gosh, what should he say? The more he remained silent the more you regretted speaking.

You felt the prickles and heat of embarrassment, despite that, the cold wind chilled your hands. "Hah- ah, I should have brought gloves." Attempting to change the subject, you looked away quickly and rubbed your hands together to warm them up.

Hazard laughed quietly before taking one of your hands in his, making you jerk your head at him. He intertwined his fingers with yours and looked you directly in the eyes.

"I like being aroond ye, too," He finally said, "I want to spend more time wi'ye. Just the two o' us. I was thinking.. maybe, uh, dinner?"

Your smile widened and Hazard laughed again. You nodded quickly and tightened your hold on his hand.

"I'd like that."

"Yeah?" Hazard looked like an excited puppy. "How 'bout tomorrow? I can pick ye up from work?"

"Well I'd like to go home first and make myself look nice."

"Oh! Right, well ah think ye look nice all the time but- I can pick ye up at 6 then? Or 7?" Hazard's excitement was amusing you to no end.

"7 is fine you big goof." You giggled.

The rest of the walk back to your house wasn't as quiet. The two of you talked about your job, about Hazard's next mission with the Phreaks, and even Maisie. You found it endearing how Hazard always found a way to mention his dog.

Soon enough, you reached your front door. You really didn't want to let go of his hand, but you knew he couldn't spend the night.

Slowly and gently, you untangle your fingers from his and stand in front of your door.

"Thank you for walking me home."

In yet another flash of confidence, you leaned up to kiss his cheek. Hazard froze for a moment, his hands nearly coming up to hold you. He was speechless for a moment.

Rare But Not So Rare Sonic Moments

Sonic Swooning Over Amy

So, Sonic’s been kind of the driving force of Sonamy recently. Let’s analyze that.

I’ll show Sonic having feelings for Amy in almost every media aside from Fleetway and the few cartoons she isn’t in. I’ll also present the “whys” in more detail then just “Amy calmed down.” While that’s part of it, I’d like to add my own can of worms. And possible headcanons too. Bear in mind I never grew up with Sonic, so forgive my mixed opinions.

While I love Amy having a crush on Sonic like the energetic sugarplum she is, nowadays Sonic’s oddly been the drive of their dynamic. Any examples of it beforehand? Let’s look outside of the games first.

Sonic X

This Sonic takes more time to himself. He’s introverted, so his feelings for her isn’t displayed as obviously as the others. In fact, most people think he didn’t like her in this show because of how much he runs away. He even manipulated her by flirting in one episode. In my opinion this show has Sonic running away from Amy more often than not. Hot take: Sonic and Amy never had a real conversation either. They didn’t…talk like they do now. Unless you count,

“Oh, Sonic I love you!” “Ah! C’mon, Amy. Knock it off!” No, it wasn’t constant but still common.

From my point of view, the conversations were short lived to none existent. It was the same in the earlier games too. Compared to how they talked to other characters or now, you might be able to notice. At least until Sonic And The Black Night were he talks to both The Lady Of The Lake and Amy. The two would also have visual gags of Sonic getting aggressively hugged by Amy. Or Amy falling on her face while trying. Aside from one moment in Sonic Riders where Sonic put Amy in danger, it wasn’t good or bad. Just cartoony for lack of a better term.

Maybe I’m just insane. You decided.

Anyhow, their dynamic in X is clearly built on actions. Like Amy giving Sonic a seashell bracelet and Sonic giving her a rose. Those little things. While I do prefer them being able to hold longer conversations, I don’t mind how X handles them. But let’s get to Sonic’s crush. I assume in Sonic X Sonic is conflicted. He’ll run away from Amy or try to pull from her on most occasions and others Sonic would constantly hold onto her when he doesn’t have to. For a long period on time no less. Amy’s the same way. One moment she’d be head over heels and other she’s bashful. Goes to show how young they were I guess. I have no clue as to why Sonic liked her back because there wasn’t much to go off of. Except the bracelet moment or her general kindness like feeding him one time. She was a bit much to him and most characters back then.

It’s possible Sonic just liked her and that was it, but I’d imagine due to all of the hand holding and small reciprocated gestures were enough to convey something was there. Straight forward and simple like the show itself. I headcanon this Sonamy being where the boyfriend gets dragged into a relationship and is fine with it. This version of Sonic’s attraction seems to be chaotic pink hedgehogs apparently.

Sonic Boom

Should I even explain it? Might as well because not only do I have something different to say, but these two haven’t been brought up much. Sonic and Amy’s romance mostly is played for laughs. Not saying their love for each other means less because of that, but the humor is the main reason they exist. Much like why in the main canon they started out the way they did. Regardless, I’ll dive deeper into Boom!Sonic’s affection for Amy to the best of my ability.

Boom!Sonic is egotistical, so whenever he thinks Amy’s crushing on someone else, it bothers him. Apparently he’s the only one she’s allowed to like. No “Radical Speedsters” or “Celebrities” can take her attention away from him. Like in Sonic X he tries to keep his crush to a minimum. Even though both him and Amy are terrible at it.

The moment in “Fortress Of Squalitude” a episode where everyone is a bit rude to Amy, close to the end Sonic says, “We may have a hard time saying it Amy. But…well you know.” Then she responds with, “Yeah, I know.” It’s such a sweet moment. Not as powerful as most moments with them but for Boom it’s very nice. Sonic and the others still value her as part of the team, but it’s Sonic who expresses it out loud. Goes to show how much he cares about her for even attempting to open up in this instance. Didn’t even have to finish the sentence. Amy understood perfectly. I also noticed how much he tries his best to impress her. When he needs to return her book back, finds her hammer in Archie, (Vector did it in the show and Sonic got jealous) shows off randomly or dreams about her, and stopped racing to get her some eggs in one episode.

The funny thing about this Sonic is how much of a people pleaser he can be. Especially since the towns people are very spoiled and ungrateful. He wants to be needed and that’s possibly why he goes out of his way to do special things for Amy like go out on picnics, implied dates, and comforts her. She’s very take charge in Boom and Sonic has no problem calling her out when he needs to. Much like Amy in the show and games. Sonic will even put effort into doing things he doesn’t feel like doing for her. How honorable of him. Sure, sometimes he tries to make her jealous and isn’t perfect, but he tries. I believe Sonic likes Amy because again like Sonic X Boom isn’t canon, so more outright reciprocated feelings are allowed in this case. Not to mention the dude likes being shipped with her in the show. Which is a win in my book.

Sonic enjoys bugging Amy much like a playful boyfriend. He probably admires her leadership, but I’m saying this by observation. It could be for anything. Maybe he thinks she’s cute when she’s mad and finds her temper amusing. It could also be for her stubbornness. Some people like each other because of how much they can relate to their partner and in Sonic Boom’s case they’re two cuts of the same cloth. Although still different, due to the show’s theme, they carry the same condescending, slightly self centered, hotheaded, stubborn, and humorous traits. But they’re still good hedgehogs with a heart of gold and usually makes reasonable decisions. Not to mention they’re both equally shy about their crushes. In Sonic Boom, Sonic and Amy is that married couple who doesn’t get along much, but when they do you’ll understand why they stay together.

Reboot Archie Sonic

I haven’t read the comics (unless you count watching a few dubs and internet reviews) but I’ll give my limited thoughts. Luckily there’s not much to say. Although most people believe it was unintentional, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch that someone from Archie thought it was a fun idea to have Sonic crush on somone in this reboot. Maybe it’s unintentional but it doesn’t seem that way.

I’m basically using this part of the post to ramble about how Reboot Archie’s Sonic still manages to be a casanova. He’s like a mixture of his old self and how he is in the games. That’s also why he acts the way he does around Amy. Could it also possibly mean he’s meant to like her canonically too? Reboot Archie did have to follow a more accurate way of writing Sonic after all. Anyways, let’s run down the list of Game!Sonic if he was allowed to be down bad for Amy like they’re already dating. Which is how I view this continuity. It’s basically if Boom and X had a weird fusion and this version of Sonic’s crush was the result. Except here he manages to be more bold and upfront. He knows what he’s doing. Here’s a run down.

First of all, THIS. No joke, more of these interactions would send me to the moon. I would explain why but the panel speaks for itself.

Sonic says, “I was worried about you.” Which he hasn’t admitted to her before this to my knowledge. He states this by giving her a side hug. Along with other out of nowhere physical affection and flirting. Not to single out Sonally fans. Sonic and Sally clearly have a close connection people appreciate and I respect that. In any case, Sonic and Amy in Reboot Archie also matches energies so much. They’re both clearly running off the same brain cell. You’d think they were together. They’d be a chaotic couple that’ll do the most outlandish things and somehow manage to survive them. After willfully risking their lives they’d do it again because being normal and safe is boring. I promise you, this version of Sonamy would be a huge force to be reckoned with.

-I’d also like to mention my friend Salty showed an example of Sonic being jealous of Knuckles coming with Amy on a mission and it’s brilliant. Dude gets all bratty about it too. Archie!Sonic does not play around. The post in question.

Sonic Prime

Already talked about this in another post, but I want to mention it again. Prime!Sonic is the most sensitive version of the character, so it’s no surprise he displays his admiration for Amy freely and out loud.

This moment says enough on its own. Sonic’s like this throughout the entirety of Prime and even changes the tone of his voice when speaking to or about her. It’s so authentic and adorable and makes him stand out against other variants.

Amy’s crush on Sonic in Prime is up to interpretation, but I don’t think she likes him in that way personally. Like other characters, Amy tends to be done with Sonic’s childishness. Guess she thinks he’s probably too immature to be boyfriend material whether she has feelings or not. Sonic on the other hand, acts how you wouldn’t expect. I personally see him as his own interpretation, so I’m fine with it. If he wants to have goo-goo eyes for Amy in Prime, it’s cool.

Prime!Sonic has it bad and I wouldn’t be shocked if he’d be the one wanting to go out on dates. Maybe he’d cook dinner for her sense he cooks in the show. I’d imagine Amy declining at first, but does it after his constant begging. They’d be swapped version of most emotional to least emotional. Prime!Amy would be a girlfriend who feels more like a parent than a partner.

Unleashed/Black Night

No one can bring up Sonic Unleashed without the lovely Amy meeting the Werehog scene. I love how Sonic didn’t like Amy hugging him, but right after she left he solemnly mopes around for probably the first and last time. He’s never in any game slowly moped around disappointedly before. Proving he only has certain reactions when it comes to Amy Rose. At least in some continuities. Unleashed gives you a choice to go on a date with Amy or not. Then the next game Sonic Team followed through with it, but ended up having Amy mad at Sonic for missing it. At least Sonic tried. Not to mention his reaction to The Lady Of The Lake and him flirting is fun to watch.

See how Sonic still likes her back but it isn’t because she’s “calmed down?” She’s still the same excitable love strucked Amy. There must be something more to it. Other than the obvious answer with Sonic Team wanting to do something with the pear. I have no idea why but having multiple hints even in the past must’ve been done for the fun of it. “We created this love interest but then railed back to Sonic not reciprocating her feeling. But we still want to market them as a couple in some way.” This franchise never cease to confuse me.

Amy encouraging Sonic in one of the cutscenes could’ve been where he started liking her back. Not in the way he does now, but he admired her none stop compassion and might’ve wanted to return the favor. “Eh, she’s sweet. Maybe a date won’t be so bad.” The fact he went out of his way to get her a chilidog and flirted with a different version of her should tell you enough. Of course it would take a while before anything else happened. 

IDW/Sonic Frontiers

Yeah, after issue 2, Sonic’s never felt the need to run from Amy. From the comics to Sonic Frontiers there’s a lot of moments of Sonic being somewhat emotionally candid. Not by much, but close. I believe Amy’s the reason for that in a way. Sonic’s not afraid to hang out with her anymore. He even hugs her back on some occasions. “Ames” was a nickname from fanfics and Boom which became canon over time and he occasionally calls her that.

Sonic wishes to share an umbrella and spend more time with her. He also gets excited to see her more often. It’s like Reboot Archie but slightly toned down. At least up until the hard to trigger lines from Sonic Frontiers. The same game where he outright admits to being worried about Amy and smiles back at her with a Coco looking between the two. Then he supports Amy’s decision to leave etc. We all know where we are now.

Crazy how the more you look into this franchise the more tiny details you notice. It’s also crazy how much Sonic’s been into the love interest he originally was already supposed to love. To me, Sonic had a crush on Amy in Unleashed but fell in love with her in IDW. What makes Sonamy gripping though is how unique it is compared to most romantic relationships. Leaves it to be more entertaining whenever something unexpected happenes. It keeps you engaged.

Why Sonic Crushes On Amy?

1. Amy doesn’t want to slow him down. Obviously because of IDW issue 2’s love confession with Amy saying “I can’t change you. I don’t want to change you.” Amy joins Sonic and he includes her more often because of that. His speed is no match for her persistence anyways.

2. She shows compassion and love for those around her. Not just to Sonic, but everyone. She’s the definition of soft hearted. Even for people Sonic and his friends would be weary about. Think about now in the recent comics and games where Sonic’s trying it out. I do think it should be more of Amy’s thing then Sonic’s but it just goes to show how much she probably inspired him. Who knows? Even in the past he had respect Amy for her tenderheartedness.

3. Amy’s energy matches Sonic’s. Though sometimes she can be overly enthusiastic compared to him. Even before now, Amy’s always been adventurous and that’s probably something Sonic liked from the start. Not in a romantic way, but in a respectful way. If he were to have a partner he’d need someone to keep him grounded and be on the same level. No exceptions.

4. Her loyalty. No matter what Sonic does (including times she disagrees) she’s one of Sonic’s most loyalist companions. Obviously other characters are too, but Amy has her being a long time childhood friend/Sonic 06 and Unleashed going for her. 06 for trusting Sonic over Silver and Unleashed for still loving Sonic despite his transformation. Heck, before she knew who the Werehog was she wasn’t disgusted. Amy’s commendable for that.

From all these points here physical attraction isn’t included. What I like about both characters is their crushes don’t stem to how they look. Though it is worth mentioning Sonic has called Amy “Radiant” in TMOSTH, but that’s probably the closest we’ll ever get to an outright physical compliment. From Sonic at least.

- Side note thanks to @saltynsassy31 again, Sonic and Amy’s dynamic can be summed up as not a relationship but rather a situationship. Yes, it’s a real word. What does it mean? Basically two friends who has crushes on each other but doesn’t do anything about it. Just a fun detail for you guys.

Why Did Sonic Run From Amy In The Past?

I’ll make this quick, but the reason Sonic ran from Amy wasn’t because he didn’t like her. On the contrary. Sonic always could’ve ran at his normal speed to get away from her. Sonic’s the fastest thing alive. Why would he let someone he “didn’t like” catch up to him? I personally think he enjoyed the thrill of the chase. It’s why I believe he misses it nowadays. Though I do understand Sonic didn’t often treat Amy like a friend. Not in a way I can understand at least. Not that I think their relationship was bad, but from what I’ve seen, it was more told then shown due to Sonic and the gang not including her on missions. Amy normally had to catch up with them which was a running gag. Especially in SA2. It might be why some prefere her in stuff like Reboot Archie, Boom, IDW, and Frontiers. Because Amy’s friends includes her on adventures now. At least in my opinion. Correct me if I missed anything.

Final Headcanon

Since Sonic in the games has been the one to push the Sonic side of Sonamy much more then Amy does for herself, I’d like to think in most cases (especially as their dynamic grows) Sonic would start carrying other versions of him traits like trying to mess with her.

He’d want to get her to chase him more often and Amy would probably ask once or twice, “What’s going on and why are you acting weird?” He’d definitely play it off as him fooling around. Sonic doesn’t know much about romance, but he does know what Amy likes. Maybe he’d ask her out or go on a bunch of traveling missions. Anything to get her to pay attention to him again. After all, there’s been examples of the guy feeling ignored by her in and out of canon. It’s possible.

-There’s also a consistent detail where Sonic’s finally ready to open up but has to deal with Amy doing her own thing. Or when he’s face with different variants of her, he’s flirtatious with them. For the fastest thing alive, he has terrible timing when it comes to making his mind up.

Conclusion

Welp, there you have it, darlings. Examples of Sonic crushing on Amy more than some would think. It’s a Sonic character analysis and Sonamy post all in one. I know there’s more, but I think this gathers examples from the actual content.
