It happens from time to time, but never anywhere near what happened at the beginning of the movie, don't worry.

It's kind of like when someone pushes themself too hard and sprains an ankle or something. It's not anything serious, but it sure is a pain, and you need to take it easy for a few days.

It's the exact same principle with Mikey's ninpo.

Now, when I said "What if he had overextended his ninpo again," I was specifically referring to the Shredder event in Mikey's timeline. That happened when he was around twelve years old.

At that time, Mikey was still very new to using mystic powers. He'd only been working on it with Baron Draxum for maybe just less than a year, and he was nowhere near ready to take on someone as powerful as Shredder.

Of course, what choice did he have?

To make a long story short, Mikey basically jumped several levels in his ninpo training, a very difficult feat to accomplish and something that nearly killed him.

Nowadays, he's completely healed from the experience, with only faint scars on his arms, and his ninpo is now completely off the charts, especially for someone his age.

Mikey knows how to pace himself, and even though he tends to have those "sprained ankle" moments quite regularly, he would never push himself over the edge again, because he knows there's a high chance he won't be able to come back from that again.

That doesn't keep his parents from worrying though.

Hi sorry to bother you! But will something really bad and traumatizing happen to Mikey. Cause in everyone else’s timeline they’ve had traumatizing moments. But Mikey hasn’t (just an idea) but can Mikey like come home after getting attacked and traumatized and the only one who notices he’s not the same as he was is Leo. (Also another idea) In Mikey’s timeline I think Mikey should have like a moment where he almost dies. And Donnie maybe saves him. (Just some ideas I’m sorry for putting so much I love Mikey and I love your au) 😭

I like to think out of all the turtles, Leo knows his brothers the best.

He's spent decades with them, and he has years of experience reading them.

They're basically an open book to him at this point :)

Wait, wait, wait, okay, so in your "Leo's design" post, you mentioned that Mikey had an idea of how to fix up Leo's old tattered mask. Then, in your "Donnie's dynamic" post, Leo's got his brothers' colors braided into his mask tails (which looks, just, so cool btw). Was this what you meant???

Yes!!

One of my favorite things about Leo's design in the movie is that he has Donnie and Raph's masks tied to his sword.

I decided that in my au, when Leo's Mikey 'disappeared' in his timeline, Leo held on to his baby brother's mask the same way.

Jump to a few (several) years later, and Leo's mask was in desperate need of repairs.

And so (with the aid of Splinter's sewing skills) Mikey thought it would be a fun idea to combine all of the masks Leo carried around together.

I like to think that Mikey chose to incorporate all four masks into one just because he thought it would look cool, not necessarily because they belonged to Leo's brothers (though that was definitely part of the decision process.)

For Leo?

It meant the world to him. Those are the last things he has of his past life, the last tie he has to his brothers. And now they'll always be with him, forever by his side, even if separated by death.

These kinds of things are what make Leo wonder what he ever did to deserve getting a second chance of being with his loved ones again.
