advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ā€˜now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ā€˜and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love

i need pepple to understand that in the first place leather has always been made from the byproducts of butchering animals for meat, otherwise the skin is just tossed and unused. there were some companies farming for leather for a while, particuarly alligator leather, but those were not the norm. peta did so much harm in their campaigns against leather as a concept (its not unethical. yoi get the skin when an animal dies. thats why most leather clothes in the usa are cow leather, bc thats the biggest meat animal here) that its almost impossible to buy anything "leather" that isnt made of plastic that it so fragile and shitty that the very Thread Holding It Together rips the fibers apart. it will last for maybe a year two if youre lucky, and wont biodegrade and was made out of something that isnt naturally occurring in the first place and is one of the biggest causes of pollution globally

Upon Arrival On The Island, Phil Had His Wings Clipped…the Problem Is That He Doesn't Remember When

Upon arrival on the island, Phil had his wings clipped…the problem is that he doesn't remember when and how

And because it's a permanent summer on the island he can't figure out when his next shedding is

Gina Carano did not get fired from The Mandalorian for being transphobic.

She got fired for being Anti-Semitic.

Gina Carano Did Not Get Fired From The Mandalorian For Being Transphobic.

Her being transphobic is not at all okay either,

But anti semitism is not talked about enough.

She basically just compared Holocaust victims to having different political opinions.

I’m Jewish. I really don’t like when someone compares the genocide of 6 million of my people to having a different political opinion! Do you realize how fucked up that is?!

Reblog this. Don’t just like this post. People need to know this. People need to start taking anti semitism more seriously.

Don’t you dare just like this post!

REBLOG IT

I’ll never forget the hairstylist who told me the curly girl method is for wavy hair too and how she literally saved my life (first photo is before)

I've been re-reading a lot of your fics and I really enjoy seeing the development and how everything seems to flow so well, you're a huge role model for how I want to be as a writer in the future! If you're willing to share, what's your process and where do you get the inspiration to do certain AUs and plots? And what usually sparks your motivation as it seems your fics consist of very long chapters and are just generally very thorough?

Thank you so much, Anon. I’m very happy you’re rereading my fics and that you enjoy them so much! It warms my heart to hear that!

I’m more than happy to share!

My writing process usually goes like this:Ā

I think up a basic idea for the fic. Sometimes it’s just the idea. Sometimes it’s a specific scene or line that sticks in my head. Then, I start to write. I am not a bigĀ ā€œplannerā€. I generally don’t plot out every step of my fics though I do have scenes planned. Those are written in jot notes in my document, usually spanning for the entire chapter.Ā

My inspiration for certain AUs and plots usually just come from what I want to see in a story. For example, most of myĀ ā€œcanonā€ fics (ie: those that adhere to canon) come from my desire to see certain scenarios that I thought of when I was reading/watching/playing the series. For AUs it’s a combination ofĀ ā€œI want to see thisā€ and me being influenced by other media/posts. I’m also a big sucker for visuals and sometimes I have an image/sentence stuck in my brain that I thinkĀ ā€œI can work this into a full storyā€. Other times I just claimĀ ā€œI want to write a -insert ship- ficā€ and then I get to work thinking of the dynamic/tone I want to write.

As for motivation it’s one of two things. Either the fic is floating in my brain and I HAVE to get it written and out (to which I write like a speed demon). Or, I just push myself to finish a fic. Motivation can be challenging to find so sometimes I set mini ā€œgoalsā€ for myself, such as a specific scene/image. I find that helps ground me in writing and staying focused.Ā

For example, with Hitman Hajime I had the image of both of them frozen in the alleyway, about to attempt killing one another. That was my sort ofĀ ā€œend goalā€ for the chapter. Then, I just wrote the beginning stuff to lead us to that scene. Writing is all about leading your reader to a destination that you want them to go to, making them believe the journey is realistic and fleshed out.Ā

My biggest concerns when I write are: ā€œDid I lead up to this moment well enough?ā€Ā ā€œAre there enough scenes that fleshed out the character(s) motivation(s)?ā€Ā ā€œHave I missed out on any details that may help explain why a character(s) are acting in a particular way?ā€ and ā€œWhat are the characters doing to help solve/ complicate the plot?ā€ These questions are actually why my scenes end up so long. I mull over making sure I have fattened the plot (so to speak) that my end goal/scene is sustainable.

In truth, though I am so flattered you say my stories are thorough, I’m usually stringing things along as I go. If I was to equate my story telling to a performance I’m improv. I always have a scene/idea/plot in mind but nothing is set in stone and everything is mutable and liable to be shifted around.

I hope this answer makes sense to you. Again, I’m so happy you sent in this ask. I’m always happy to talk about my writing! Thank you!!!

One of my favourite parts of working with kids is like… Very Gently subverting their idea of gendered topics… Like if a girl goes ā€˜no, sharks are a boy thing’ and you go ā€œUM ACTUALLY THATS STUPID AND INCORRECTā€ they get freaked out, but if instead u go ā€œAre you sure? Cause I think sharks are awesome, here’s a scale picture of a Megalodonā€ it’ll blow their tiny mind and they’ll be shitting themselves over it for days. 100% effective, 10/10 recommend
