Ways to Get Intimate with the Gods

For those special gods in your life.

Leave space for them on your bed when you sleep

Dedicate a piece of jewelry to them and wear it all the time

When you’re emotional, write a letter to them until your hands start to hurt

Make them a cup of tea and sit down across from it and just talk

Make some time to sit in ritual in silence and just feel them

Wear their colors for them and let them know you did it for them

Orgasms are great offerings

Take care of yourself physically and pamper yourself while you talk to them and visualize them helping you (example: washing your hair, doing your nails)

Magic is made from passion, so when you need an extra kick in the spell, visualize them touching you and whispering in your ear all the passion that you need

Eat dinner with them

Create a place where you meet in meditation

hello!! I'm starting to look into information on Lucifer, and I'm running into some road blocks. I was wondering if u knew if thr author Asenath Mason was a good source or not? i am incredibly hesitant about accidentally stepping on a landmine, so to speak

So I have not managed to get through any of her books in full but she did multiple collabs with E. A. Koetting who is a murder-encouraging nazi charlatan and some with Michael Ford who is also very sketchy when it comes to fascism (explained in the linked post by @alephskoteinos) and she also wrote multiple books on Qliphoth (appropriating and bastardizing Kabbalah, which many Jewish people stated is harmful) so I wouldn't call her a good source.

From books written by practitioners, from what I remember The Luminous Stone edited by Michael Howard was nice. I can't say agree with everything, but I recommend it because it shows many perspectives on Lucifer from those who work with her, without, you know, nazi shit. Unfortunately I don't know any books specifically on Luciferian practice worth recommending, but learning more generally about working with and veneration of entities in general can be a great help because while many things may differ, many principles are pretty common. Also if witchcraft is your thing, more folklore-based practices can incorporate Devil figures much more often than ones shaped by Wicca, so there are many options of including Lucifer, especially in his more folkloric aspect.

From academic works, Children of Lucifer by Ruben Van Luijk and The Devil's Party edited by Per Faxneld and Jesper Petersen are good for general history (they speak about Satanism but also about Luciferianism bc it is very intertwined). They will not give you a guide on how to practice, but will give you a general understanding of many ideas common in Luciferianism and where they come from which is very important. Another personal favorite is Satanic Feminism by Faxneld, which is an exploration of how Satan/Lucifer started to be connected with liberation (feminism in particular) in 19th century.

Origins of Satan (written by a professor but more accessible than academic works are from what I remember) is an important read on the politics of how Satan was used to "demonize" various groups of people.

Also Paradise Lost but imo when you get more context on its role in Satanism, Children of Lucifer should suffice.

Learning the history behind your Gods is one of the easiest ways to dismantle the allure of “danger” that being raised monotheistic sometimes places on the very concept of syncretic worship.

Like, for example, when you realize how many gods of the Greco-Roman Pantheon(s) are borrowed or heavily influenced by other cultures you’ll realize that there’s no concept of “true” Hellenic or Roman worship. You’re worshipping a bunch of Gods only some of whom are rooted in only-Greek or only-Italic concepts and cultural ideas. A lot of Them are Syrian, Celtic, Iranian, Egyptian, Sumerian, Anatolian, etc. - or are influenced enough to lose this “purity” of self.

Worshipping this religious cluster is by definition being syncretic, I would say. Because Greek and Roman Pantheons are by definition syncretic. You’re fine. You’re not “disrespecting” anyone by doing this.

Who is Azazel to you?

My view of Azazel is very shaped by his role in the Book of Enoch, which I'll explain for those reading this who are less familiar, and also because I don't know if you have any knowledge of the story therein. There's also a bit of him that borders on UPG/Unverifiable Personal Gnosis, which I'm fine admitting to. I think more people should be inclined to fess up to when there's ideas or experiences that work for them (and maybe others) that might not have textual evidence.

I suspect I was sent this question at least partially because, depending on your religious background, the name can evoke a pretty different set of emotions and ideas. I can't get into it in dept here without writing an essay, and the question was "who is Azazel to you" instead of just "who is Azazel", but I've found in my research that the name appears in some form in Christianity, Islam to a degree (not as Azazil/Iblis though, their names are just similar, but rather in a story similar to his Enochic appearance), Judaism (which I'd posit is his origin, based on what I've read), and the apocrypha. That last one is where my view of him comes in!

In the Book of Enoch, Azazel is one of the Watchers or Grigori: angels who were meant to watch over mankind, but who were enticed by their leader to pursue their desire for mortal women. The result of this union was the Nephilim, a race of giants. Genisis describes them like so.

Genesis 6 1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

During this time, the Watchers were said to teach mankind new knowledge and skills... the act of which ultimately led to them being cast out of Heaven. Each Watcher taught something different, such as Penemue teaching about ink and paper so mankind could write, Sariel teaching about the lunar cycle, and Baraqel teaching astrology. Azazel, in my opinion, is credited with an incredibly interesting set of teachings. We get in Chapter 8...

And Azazel taught men to make swords and knives and shields and breastplates; and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them; and bracelets and ornaments; and the use of antimony and the beautifying of the eyelids; and all kinds of costly stones and all colouring tinctures.

I just think it's very interesting that blacksmithing for the purpose of making armour and weaponry came from the same entity that was said to teach the creation of jewelry and cosmetics. So to me, all three of these acts and their results are very connected to Azazel. His punishment for being generous with this knowledge also makes him (and every other Watcher for that matter) an incredibly Promethean figure, which is a theme that comes up A Lot in my Luciferianism to the surprise of literally no one. It's not that unique a taste to have.

And now comes the parts that get a bit less concrete textually, but I incorporate into my understanding and relationship with Azazel: I see him as a potential teacher of magic, particularly witchcraft, occult and medicinal herbalism, and by extension veneficium. My reasoning for this is twofold.

To be fair, magic is not attributed to him specifically by name among the skills he taught. It is mentioned in regards to their leader Semjaza, who taught enchantment, and Armaros, who taught the "resolving" (I assume breaking) of enchantments. These two are interesting to me (as all the Watchers are) but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew when dealing with this sort of entity, if you follow, and Azazel was the one I felt most drawn to and got a very positive response from.

However! This is just when looking at their individual attestations that begin in Chapter Eight or so. In Chapter Seven, when their actions are described as a group, we get the following passage:

And all the others together with them took unto themselves wives, and each chose for himself one, and they began to go in unto them and to defile themselves with them, and they taught them charms and enchantments, and the cutting of roots, and made them acquainted with plants.

The fact that no other Watcher is credited as teaching herbal lore leads me to believe that magic and herbalism were skills that they universally understood and taught as a collective regardless of other specialties/focuses/areas of mastery, rather than this being an overview of a few subjects they individually taught. So, in my opinion, if you feel drawn to the Watchers but Azazel doesn't feel right to you and/or doesn't seem to reciprocate your interest, I personally do not believe he is the only means of working with them in an explicitly magical context.

He is, however, the only one of them with a long and repeated association with goats, which are of course also a very popular symbol in witchcraft (especially portrayals of the Witches' Sabbath when the Devil is involved), so to me that only furthers my association between Azazel and the teaching of magic, but witchcraft in particular. I'm not saying he's the true and universal identity of the Witch's Devil, or the Sabbatical goat, or the Man in Black, or anything else so universal. Many, many figures can fill those roles for different people, practices, and traditions. However, for me (so far), he seems well suited and well inclined to fill that role, and it's another appealing detail when viewing him through a lens of folkloric witchcraft.

I hope that answers the question! Thanks for asking.

Easy Ways to Connect More Strongly with your Deities

Say Good Morning when you wake up, say Good Night before you fall asleep

Share your food with them. If you’ve ever wanted some of your friend’s french fries, you know how they probably feel.

Donate to causes that fall under the jurisdiction of your deity. Are they a goddess for women? Donate to a women’s shelter or Planned Parenthood. Is your deity a patron of the arts? Give to PBS or local theatres.

Cook a full meal in honor of your deity. Seriously. It sounds silly but you can definitely find a regional cookbook based on your pantheon to cook a full ass feast for them.

Write them letters or notes. Keep a little notebook of notes and letters to your deity. Did you see a cute cat that you think Frigga would’ve liked? Maybe you saw a girl’s outfit that would’ve made Aphrodite drool. Let them know, or give yourself a reminder to tell them about it later.

Change your phone background. Does your deity have a temple or built pantheon? Put that shit as your wallpaper! Did you find a picture that so perfectly captures the spirit of your deity? Make it your lock screen.

Make them a Mix Tape. You know, so you can belt out songs in their honor while making your way downtown. Faces pass. And you’re home bound.

DIY your Altar. I’m not going to lie, I’m not to altar type. However, it is a fantastically personalized space that you can do anything with. So don’t let anyone stop you from knitting that mini statue of Hecate a scarf.

Satanic and Luciferian people should do better when it comes to antagonizing marginalized followers of monotheistic religions.

Though not all, many of us may actually believe in or at least include in their practice the idea of an oppressive God figure with a very Christian mythology. For some of us - me included - reinterpreting Christian narratives is a way of working through religious oppression and trauma. But it does not automatically make all Jewish, Muslim, and yes, Christians, misguided followers of a malevolent entity.

Religious people can hold radically different worldviews, and have very different idea of God. You can have your own cosmology without claiming to possess the only universal truth and that all others are wrong and misguided... which such a missionary stance. And you know, telling a practicioner of Judaism how they're really worshipping an evil god and would do better as a Satanist is no better than Christian replacement theology.

And honestly, why does the God those extremely diverse groups of people worship even has to be always one and the same oppressive deity Satanic and Luciferian folks often rebel against? Many of us are polytheistic after all. And even if you're not... just accept the fact that your cosmology is not the only one there is and just let people do their own thing.

Shitting on Muslim and Jewish folks, members of marginalized religions, is not fighting any god of oppression. It is just contributing to human world oppression and bigotry, which is literally the reverse of what a person rebelling against such a god should be doing.

Christianity is a powerful force in our society, and it can often be a force of oppression. I get it, I'm living in a country in which Catholic Church holds major political power. And yet, there are still groups of people, often marginalized, in whose life Christianity is not the same as whatever shit Polish bishops or American Evangelical preachers are promoting.

Honestly, as a marginalized in many ways person with a deep religious trauma, who very much rebels against the being I experienced as the Catholic God, I am pretty sure he's not, of many possible examples, about African American Christian hoodoo practicioner using psalms to help themselves in whatever life matters they need in the racist society that makes it harder for them at every step. He is not about a queer Christian person finding comfort in the understanding of Jesus as the one embracing outcasts, praying to Madonna of Montevergine or exploring queer patron saints. He's just not synonymous to Christianity.

And despite my history with Catholicism, despite the fact that my life is still influenced by the politics of the Church and I hate it, despite everything I think of Vatican, I am also aware some marginalized people for whom Christianity is something much different than it was for me, are Catholic.

You know where I do see the God of Oppression though? In the fucking Joy of Satan, in Anton LaVey's work, in every act of twisting Lucifer's rebellion into authoritarian nazi shit.

It's often neccessary to criticize the way Christianity affects our society. But it should be about fighting oppression, not perpetuating it by antisemitism, racism or islamophobia.

(also stop conflating all of those religions as "Abrahamic")

The Divine Feminine in the Left Hand Path WITHOUT appropriation

When it comes to demonolatry, satanism, and luciferianism, most people tend to gravitate towards Lilith, which isn't great, considering that she is from Judaism, which is a closed religion.

So you're probably thinking "well shit Phi, who am I supposed to venerate as a feminine figure" and to that the answer is... read anyone BUT Lilith. Yeah, that doesn't sound to helpful does it?? Well, its actually more helpful than you think. There are MANY figures in the left hand path that can be venerated as your divine feminine.

Want an absolute Bad Bitch who doesn't take any shit? Look into Vepar, Astaroth, and Babalon to name a few!

Want someone who directly went against God? Eve! Shes the one who first ate the fruit of knowledge and got Adam to follow suit.

Want someone who could be motherly and deals with love? Gremory and Unsere are both wonderful choices!

Want someone who you could consider the consort of Lucifer? Diana in Stregoneria is considered to be Lucifer's consort. They have a daughter named Aradia who is considered the first witch!

"But I wanna worship someone that can be considered a succubus and help with sexuality!" Babalon. You're gonna wanna want Babalon.. like. She literally rides upon a 7 headed beast with a chalice of wine. Classy as all hell. People do tend to conflate her with Lilith but in my experiences Babalon is very distinctly different. If shes syncretized with any demon, it would likely be Astaroth. You could also work with Unsere and Gremory!

"Yeah but none of them call to me" and thats fine! If you keep searching through various hierarchies im sure you'll find someone that vibes with you! Plus, demons aren't bound by gender so for example, let's say you feel drawn to Sitri, a demon thats traditionally depicted as masculine, if she feels feminine to you, nothing is stopping you from venerating her in that way!

"But Lilith genuinely calls to me and I feel drawn to her" I get it..I really do. But if you wanna truly get the most out of working with her, look into Judaism. See if it resonates with you. If it truly does, look into converting. But don't convert solely so you have a free pass to work with Lilith.

"But I don't wanna be part of an Abrahamic religion!!! God sucks!!" Too bad buddy. Plus, the way God is portrayed in Judaism is VERY different than how they're portrayed in Christianity. If you don't wanna put in the effort to actually genuinely understand Lilith's source, why work with her?

"But I still hate Abrahamic religions!" Then check yourself. Do you really hate all abrahamic religions or just Christianity? Obviously its ok to hold resentment towards stuff that traumatized you, but to conflate all abrahamic religions together and act like they're the same is both antisemetic and Islamophobic. If your trauma is causing you to be a dick about stuff that didn't even tie into your trauma, do some soul searching and get help. Period.

Its easy to have a divine feminine figure in your LHP practice without appropriating closed cultures. Just use common sense.

Faces of Lucifer #4

The Serpent

image

As the Serpent of Eden, Lucifer is the bringer of knowledge and liberation. He is not an evil deceiver but a Lightbringer who shares his flame with human beings.

In the story of the Garden, the first human sin was seeking knowledge. No wonder the fruit was forbidden! After all, one who can see and think for themselves can also disobey.

The symbolism of the fruit is complex, interpretations are many and not  necessarily mutually exclusive. Knowledge - intellectual and spiritual. Conscience and free will. Liberation. Responsibility and hardship that come with all of that. Sometimes even sexuality, too, and more than that.

The Serpent’s gift has a certain danger to it. Ignorance can be easy. Freedom is certainly not. But Eve took her chance and shared it with the one she loved.

The story of Eden is not a historical event - but it is more than that. Over the ages, Lucifer continues to offer his gift to human beings. But will you take it? What will you do with it? That is completely up to you.

Luciferian Journal Prompts

Make a mind map of your personal symbolism of the fruit.

How does the story of Eden relate to your relationship with Lucifer?

Reflect on the figure of Eve. What is the meaning of her story for you?

Ritual acts

Eating fruit and sharing with Lucifer.

Meditating on the story of Eden or art pieces illustrating it.

Lighting a candle for Lucifer and studying philosophy in his presence.

Offering ideas

Snake imagery.

Apples, pomegranates and other fruit.

Donations to snake conservation - snakes are crucial parts of many ecosystems, but are so vilified many don’t care about their survival.

If you enjoyed this post, please consider reblogging - this is the only way others can actually see it.
