I have a story to tell you. Really, what is it about? BROTHER BEAR (2003) dir. Aaron Blaise & Robert Walker
Lucifer's expression shifts as the figure before him backs away, his typical grin slipping into something more neutral. It wasn't often that a person would want to get away from him, not unless they were a suspect in the Detective's case or he'd shown them his devil face – but this man was neither! Lucifer would've been offended if something about the other hadn't seemed so off. Some sort of energy thrumming in the air, similar to the presence of his siblings yet something completely different.
The devil was intrigued.
" I'm sorry, have we met before? " Lucifer questions, dark gaze regarding the strange being before him. There was no familiarity from the other's features, nothing that told Lucifer he should remember him. But why else would this man seem so eager to get away? Unless –
" Oh - ugh - you're not one of detective douche's friends, are you? You certainly dress like it, " The fallen angel rolls his eyes, gesturing towards the other man's outfit. It was difficult to believe detective Espinoza had friends, being a douche and all, but perhaps this was one of those improv buddies. It wasn't like Dan spoke highly of Lucifer there.
" Look, whatever he's told you about me isn't true. Well, maybe a bit true, but most likely completely out of context. Not the real Lucifer Morningstar at all, I assure you. "
@fracturals asked: ❛ you didn't hear a word of what i just said, did you? ❜ ( from lucifer morningstar (tom ellis not spn) bc this is a crossover i need )

The moment that Gadreel had come to realise just who it was that stood before him, his mind had gone blank. No, this wasn't his Lucifer, his brother who tricked him all those aeons ago in the Garden of Eden, dooming humanity and handing him a one-way ticket into Heaven's dungeon for a lifetime of endless and merciless torture. But he was the closest thing to him since the dawn of time, since he'd last locked eyes with his brother before he'd been locked away and forgotten for his failure.
It wasn't until this other Lucifer spoke again that it seemed to pull the fallen angel from his thoughts, blinking several times as he stared at the unfamiliar features looking back at him. "No." Gadreel wasn't always a being of many words, but right now he was struggling to formulate thoughts, let alone sentences. "Keep your distance." He uttered as he instinctively began to back away from him. He may need help, he may be lost in a universe he didn't know, but trust Lucifer? His Lucifer or not -- - he couldn't do it, he wouldn't allow himself to be fooled again. He just couldn't bear it.

The weather had ruined any chances of going beyond the walls today. There was meant to be a supply run, their food stock starting to run low as they drew closer to the colder seasons - and the storm outside only proved how close they were to a difficult cluster of months. It left all of them antsy, but going out in this weather would make searching for supplies impossible, let alone defending against any stray walkers.
Carl had been holed up in his room, watching the storm with a bored expression when he saw it. A flash of thunder, something shooting through the sky and bringing down a fair few amount of trees with it, couple of miles away. The teen immediately straightened, eye widening as he tried to process what he just saw. It had been way too big to be a bird, and he was no expert but it didn't seem like it'd come from space either.
With little hesitation, Carl had gathered his backpack, a raincoat and his boots and slipped out the house. Using the back way over the walls, it was fairly easy to sneak out of Alexandria without being seen. Navigating to where the thing had landed wasn't as easy, boots slipping in the mud and rain making it even harder for the teen to see – but after some time, he'd made it.
Squinting through the downpour, Carl wasn't exactly sure what he was staring at. In the low light, it almost looked like a huge... rock? But as he stepped closer, the shape seemed to shift slightly. Up and down, over and over. Like... like it was breathing.
With a sharp exhale, Carl pulled his knife from it's place on his belt. Held it tightly in his grip as he crept closer to the thing, until he was hovering a few steps away from the form. Up close, it almost looked like some sort of lizard.
With a wary glance around, Carl reached out with his boot and tapped against what he assumed to be a scaly leg. Waited with baited breath, hoping he wasn't about to be eaten by some sort of giant lizard that fell from the sky.

It started with the storm.
Dark clouds had gathered in the sky, a precursor to the wrath of nature that would soon follow. Most of the residents of Alexandria had decided to coop up in their houses in preparation, and just in time. The torrential downpour started within minutes.
Thunder rumbled above and lightning flashed, illuminating the sky with a unearthly blue glow.
This is where the offspring of lightning and death itself resided, banking between the clouds with scales as black as the night. No one could see it, didn't know it was there at all. And this is the way it had been for many years.
A bellow of thunder and another crack of lightning, this one striking the side of the dragon's face. It yelped in surprise, loosing its even glide. It descended in a downward spiral, crashing into a few trees on the way down.
It was only a few miles from Alexandria that the beast laid in the dirt, chest heaving with pained pants.
This is the beginning of the story where people without hope learned that dragons were real.
Fear God, give glory to him, for the hour of his judgement is come
A really quick sketch
Waking was strange. A sensation reminiscent of emerging from murky waters, his vision slowly shifting from darkness, to blurry muddled shapes. His hearing, already beaten over the years, was muffled for a moment. Made it impossible to pinpoint the distant footsteps until they were right by his ear – his good ear, like the person knew his left one worked better.
Their voice, achingly familiar, pulled Joel upwards out of the murky waters his body had been trapped within. He could still hear Ellie's distant cries, the sound of the golf club –
No. This wasn't that cold hard floor, the surface underneath him was soft and warm. He couldn't hear shouting or crying, only... Ellie. With a pained exhale, Joel forced his eyes fully open. As his vision cleared, brown hair and worried eyes came into view. The gentle squeeze to his hand was a notable contrast to the slight bite of her words, and the man's lips twitched upwards.
" Hey kiddo, " Joel's voice is tired, croaky. The movement tugs on his healing cuts and bruises, but the ache clears his mind. Let him focus on his daughter Ellie. He longs to reach out, to comfort the teen, but his limbs are all heavy and disconnected. Won't cooperate yet.
" Sorry to scare you.. just needed some rest, that's all. Are... are you alright? " It was easy to forget that he was the one in the hospital bed, concern for her consuming him.
He didn't know much, remembered hearing someone mention that he'd been unconscious for a long while – and his heart ached that he'd left Ellie alone for that long, had missed so much. Joel knew Ellie well enough to know chances were she'd done something reckless - but whether she'd tell him was a different story.
@fracturals x Joel from this Ellie
It takes all she has not to start crying when she's finally allowed to see Joel, the doctors baffled but done with all their tests; he's a beast, obviously, she knew he'd wake up. She knew. It's why she refused to go sleep at home - but of course he woke up while she was in the bathroom - and why she's still there in Jackson, she had to see him with her own eyes. Because he had to. He had to. "That was one f.ucking way to make me forgive you, Joel," her voice shakes, she can't help it. Okay, she wasn't completely sure he'd wake up, but he had to, right? Where would she be now if he hadn't? Ellie holds onto one of those little pieces of his body that isn't broken, and squeezes it gently. "You took way too long to wake up. Waaay too long, you a.sshole." He's actually going to live, so he doesn't get sweet words from her, no sir. There's no better way to let him know they are cool and that he'll be fine, if you ask her.
