When Hannah had grabbed the jacket and left in a blur of pink, Ellie could only blink. It took a moment for her mind to catch up, sharing a confused look with a stunned Maria before the teen ran out after Hannah. Jesus, she was fast - Ellie had to take a minute to catch her breath once Hannah finally stopped running.
" Holy shit, " was all Ellie could muster at first, listening to Hannah's story. She'd seen a lot in her life, in the QZ and on her journey will Joel, but falling off a cliff? That was insane! If the brunette hadn't seen people survive intense scenarios before, she'd have found it hard to believe that Hannah could go through that and still be standing here.
" So... Beth, she saved you? From the cliff? " Ellie tread carefully, not wanting to upset Hannah further. But she wasn't an idiot, she understood the implications. Hannah was here now, Beth wasn't. The jacket was special because it belonged to Hannah's sister. " That's why the jacket means so much. "
The teen's hand dipped into her pocket, fingers smoothing over the handle of her pocket knife. The one that had been with her since birth - all she had of her mother. " I get how that feels – having something that belonged to someone special. That losing it would... "
She sighs. Hand rubs her neck, antsy. " I don't think Maria meant to upset you. But don't worry, I've had my moments with her too. I'm sure if you explain to her, she won't touch the jacket again without permission or whatever - but washing it would probably be a good idea, right? "
@fracturals asked: ❛ do you want to share this? ❜ ( ellie )
The way she reacted when Maria had picked up her jacket, with the simple intention of getting it cleaned, one would have thought they were about to throw a baby into the dirty laundry. Hannah had ran out after - still, still that damn habit of running out - holding the jacket, the pink jacket, Beth's jacket, too embarrassed to explain why she had freaked out. But when Ellie had reached her, she had felt slightly better. Slightly.
"It was my sister's." It was all she had been able to say until that question.
"It was the... it was the last thing she gave me... I had a bad night..." That's one way to put it, but she doesn't have the courage to discuss the prank now. She had been so stupid. "And I ran outside, in the snow... like I did now, but without a jacket. She followed me... she gave me this jacket..." she repeats, holding it tightly. Squeezing her eyes closed, she tries to erase the image of Beth's body. "Her name was Beth... she was my twin, actually, but she was... so much prettier and awesome... and brave... and then I slipped off a cliff. And she grabbed me and wouldn't let me go..." she should have.
not being here is WHACK but my manager is a dick who keeps changing my work shifts with no warning / asking me to stay constantly for stupid reasons so i am ... exhausted
i miss you guys xoxo love you
Human detectives?
Ah. Certainly not an earthly being then. Considering his demeanor and the ability to remain somewhat civil, it put a higher bet on the angelic side rather than the demonic. Even having fallen, Lucifer could typically recognise the faces of his siblings, having spent enough time with them before being cast out – and when stuck for millennia with only demons and tortured souls for company, one thinks a lot of their family.
But this was not any he recognised – and in the same vein, they clearly didn't recognise him. Even those siblings that had supported his fall, had been on Michael's side through everything, they didn't react THIS way. They knew his face without Lucifer having to mention his name, or devil status. It didn't add up, a trickier mystery than some of the Detective's cases.
It was curious enough of a situation to keep Lucifer standing there, rather than resuming his previous mission of heading back to the precinct to assist Chloe on her case. He had no qualms with the other being in LA, so long as there was no interference with the Detective's life. Only then would Lucifer deem it fit to intervene himself.
No, Lucifer simply found his not-sibling interesting. That was until Gadreel claimed he ' wasn't the real Lucifer Morningstar. ' The devil spluttered at the accusation. " Excuse you, " Lucifer starts, indignant. " I am very much the REAL Lucifer Morningstar, thank you very much. "
Hands settle on his hips, lips downturned into a disapproving frown at the impeachment of his honour. It almost made him miss the implications of the other's words – this not-sibling before him wasn't from this universe. A situation like his mother's, perhaps? An angel that had been in a separate dimension for some reason, one that had been brought back here for... what? Another ploy from dear old dad?
But a dimension with another Lucifer? That hardly added up. Their dad hardly cared for the original Lucifer, let alone would have any interest in making another – especially one that sounded so... deceitful.
" Okay, there's clearly been some sort of confusion here. I'm not certain what's happened with you, nor who you are, but I have no intentions of fooling you. Lying isn't really my thing, you see. Scouts honour. " Lucifer holds up his fingers, imitating the gesture he'd seen Chloe do with her offspring. " But if you need help, I'd be willing to extend a favour. Just this once. "
He felt different -- - yet didn't everything? He was in a universe that wasn't his own, wasn't his home. Maybe he should've been thankful, waking up anywhere after sacrificing himself for the sake of humanity hadn't exactly been his first thought, yet there he was. No longer encased in another cell all over again, but not on his Father's Earth either, nor amongst his brothers and sisters. But somewhere else. Another Earth, one with another version of his Father, perhaps? Other versions of his brothers and sisters?
Was there another him? Was there another Gadreel wandering around here or locked away in Heaven?
Right now, it didn't matter. All he wanted was to get away from the deceiver, the serpent of lies, of deceiver, terrified of being wrapped around his little finger. He took another step back, brows hardened as he stared at him, anger furrowing those stern brows that were so commonly creased with concentration, yet were now pinched with a flickering fury he hadn't felt since he'd set eyes upon Thaddeus on Earth. His Earth.
That hadn't gone well either. For Thaddeus, at least.
"Detective douche...?" The angel blinked in confusion, shaking his head. Was that a reference to something? "I don't know who that is. Nor am I familiar with any human detectives." He told him straight, his breathing harder, rougher as he backed away even further. He was cut off here, still fallen, strong enough to defend himself, to fight back, but he was still injured, still wounded from the fall, and so this Lucifer would make light work of him if he needed to.
If he was so lucky -- - if it was his Lucifer, he imagined he'd do far worse than the mercy of death. Ironically, just like their Father.
"I know the real Lucifer Morningstar. My brother. The Lucifer of my world... my home." His vessel's upper lip trembled at the mere thought of him. "You will not fool me. Not as he did... I have paid for my mistakes. I will not be led astray again."
kopa poked the bear
Tucked in the shade beneath an overarching rock, Kenai had been attempting to rest. Attempting was the key word – it took a while to fall into slumber with a certain brother around, Koda often wriggling around or rambling about anything and everything – often until he simply wore himself out. By now, Kenai was able to ignore Koda's rambling at will – but he stayed awake to ensure that Koda actually got some rest, and that he hadn't wandered off whilst the older bear was asleep.
It hadn't been long since silence had fallen upon their makeshift den when the poking started. Kenai was dozing just enough to ignore it at first, until barely there sensations grew more bold. The light brown bear heaved out a sigh.
" Koda, go back to sleep. You've been awake long enough, " he mumbles into the air. Yet, the poking only paused for a moment before continuing. Seriously? The bear turned his head, ready to nudge his brother away from him, when a foreign smell hit his nose. Immediately, brown eyes shot open, Kenai's body shifting to hide Koda from the stranger's sight.
" What are you doing? Stop that. " Kenai all but growls, glaring at the lion cub before him. Keeping his voice low enough to not wake Koda, not yet, but ensuring he got his warning across – try anything and he wouldn't hesitate to protect his baby brother.

For a lil' change of pace for this blog, I wanted to showcase some o' my Bambi art! (I swear I'm still normal about the movies, the essay I wrote months ago is a testament to that)
Anyway! The first two are from sometime between 2021 and 2023, the next two are actually 2023/2024 remakes of 2020 illustrations (which I couldn't find the original files for X_X) and the last is from 2024 :3
Hopefully I'll get to share more o' these sketches in the future

JJ thanked whatever entity out there that the office was currently empty, save for their team. They'd just gotten back from a case, dropping off relevant files and paperwork before a well-deserved rest, and someone had jokingly mentioned how it would easier if they had another Morgan around to ease the amount of file boxes they had to carry.
Big mistake.
ONE Derek Morgan could be enough, let alone ten of him cluttering the office. Especially since each one seemed to be dumber than the last. How were they making less progress now? Jennifer sighed, hands settling upon her hips.
Blue gaze directed towards the companion beside her, eyebrow raised. " How exactly do we fix this? " The blonde questions tiredly, hoping there was an easy solution.
