Okay for real though can we also talk about internet historian and illuminaughtii?? Cause both those channels also suck and deserve at least a little of the vitriol Mr. Somerton is currently receiving. Illuminaughtii positioned herself as like an expert on bad businesses and exposing mlms and stuff, and internet historian makes dreck that appeals mostly to edgy teenage boys who think saying slurs is funny. The fact that both of them were also just ripping off other people’s work to make such desperately mid content is a little funny ngl. I hope this video tanks both their YouTube careers too.
EDIT: yes I am now aware that Blair’s channel has already tanked as a result of the dramas that unfolded a few months ago while Hbomb was working on this video (1 mil subscriber count but averaging 20k views a video nowadays. Brutal), but let’s still hope internet historian’s follows suit. Everyone has latched onto the James Somerton centerpiece, but internet historian has a Huge platform (and also sucks).
It would be extremely lame if the guy who got his audience by posting 4chan edgelord bait and anti-sjw cringe and is now pretending to be a respectable channel has the only career that survives this exposé.
Sorry I just saw your second comment.
Dude, I get you, I agree, no one is arguing that children need/deserve/should be killed. But how can you not understand that israel is doing what it can to protect the civilians (evacuation orders), but also needs to secure its own soldiers, who literally 19-23 year olds mostly, and those who aren’t are just civilians, doctors, lawyers, fathers, israel doesn’t want them to die to satisfy hamas, and Israel has a duty to protect them as they risk their lives to go in to kill terrorists who built their bases among civilian population, with people who aren’t specifically hamas also hating them and wanting them dead (again- not in a way of an excuse, but just you know, it’s the truth, their children would shoot a soldier, they have summer camps for it).
So yes, it’s sad, but these are precaution that israel has to take to protect its own children who are sacrificing their lives. And if warning people to evacuate isn’t enough, and saying that it’ll all stop if the hostages are released and hamas surrenders entirely, then how can you blame israel? 1400 people died gruesome, painful, terrifying deaths, they were tortured and beheaded and raped and burned alive. How can this be allowed to pass? How does israel eliminate hamas so that this never happens again?
I don't have anything to say that I have not already said before in the comments under my last response to you, but I do want to ask you two questions.
How do you feel about the historical oppression of Palestinians [1], and the fact that Israel is directly responsible for the things Hamas has done by getting them into power by providing them funding [2] [3], and the fact that were it not for the aforementioned oppression, Hamas would not exist in the form we see today [4]?
The 4th source is locked behind a paywall, but the intro alone illustrates my point well.
Oh, and just one more question, how do you feel about how the current Israeli Government is extremely Far-Right [5}, resembling Nazism more than anything I've seen coming from those who oppose what Israel is doing and has done to Palestine (except my asshole of a Grandpa and Hamas themselves)?
idk how to say this without sounding really boomer-ey, but like, what happened to horror content for kids? maybe i’m using the word “horror” a little liberally but i remember when i was a kid there was SO much out there that existed solely for the purpose of scaring kids in a safe, fun, age-appropriate way. just off the top of my head there’s goosebumps, scary stories to tell in the dark, tales from the crypt (little before my time though), coraline, mirror mask, monster house, dark crystal (more incidentally scary but w/e), even courage the cowardly dog; all these really fantastic books and shows and movies that let kids explore being scared on their own terms.
now there’s idk, those new addams family movies? but those aren’t really scary.
i see people talking about the “kid-ification” of horror games and i can’t help but wonder if part of the reason kids latch onto that stuff so much now is because there’s nowhere else for them to experience healthy, safe fear. a little kid wants to get the thrill of being scared, but their parents won’t let them watch any actual horror movies, so they go on youtube and what do you know, there’s markiplier playing another cheap horror game set in a toy store or whatever, and now that kid’s fear quota is being met. (obviously there’s more to it than that, but it’s a theory i have)
this like, doesn’t really matter probably but idk, i feel bad that ~kids these days~ aren’t getting the experience of something scary made specifically for them with their genuine enjoyment in mind, rather than whatever the next fnaf ripoff is that just wants to sell them merch. being a kid and watching a well-made scary movie feels like you’re finally being taken seriously; you’re not being babied or coddled, you’re being trusted to face the skeksis and the other mother and the nebbercracker house and not back down. i wish people were still making media that respected kids that much.
saw you out in the real world today
NOOOO apparently I'm in tiktok/youtube compilations now and I don't think anyone who follows me from those places is aware that this is first and foremost a will turner/davy jones blog that just happens to post memes
Palestinians brought this upon themselves because they voted for Hamas. Haven't you heard?
Nevermind that that election was 17 years ago, or that they won by only 44% of the vote, or that they didn't win the majority in a single district.
Nevermind that 47% of the population in Gaza is under 18, with 40% under 14, and that these people literally didn't exist to vote back then.
You won't have seen this from the news, but a survey was done earlier this year regarding public opinion on Hamas. I'm going to show you some of their findings but you should read the whole article if you have time. Here: What Palestinians Really Think of Hamas
You should never forget literally the best line in all of video games

scalding hot take here but maybe bombing and massacring more civilians isn't going to get rid of the resistant fighters radicalised by watching civilians and loved ones be bombed and massacred
