At the reception, he holds your purse while you dance with your friends, watching you with that quiet, wistful expression he tries to hide. He doesn't let himself hope for more , but when you reach for him during a slow song, when your hand slips into his and he pulls you close, he lets himself pretend. Just for a little while that he will always be your plus one.

let this be a message to all you who want to write but can't do it "normally": write it! someone out there will eat it up. whether that be poetry, tiny drabbles, or bullet pointed list: your work is always worth it. your art (yes, art!) will alway deserve to have its moment in the spotlight. why? because you made it. even if it wasn't done in a traditional matter, it came from your brain and your creativity and that is amazing.

I would like to tell you that I am from Gaza, where we are now living under bombs, explosives, warplanes that we cannot sleep from for many nights, and other things. This war has destroyed our bodies, our lives, and our souls. It has destroyed our homes, robbed us of everything, destroyed all places, changed all landmarks, and changed our situation for the worse. We were living a decent life, peace, and love of life, and here we are living in hunger, fear, and terror, me, my children, and the rest of my family, and we do not have the minimum necessities of life, and we live in very dilapidated tents. We do not know how to act when winter comes to us. We will drown in the rain and wind, and I will not know how to protect my family, neither from the bombing nor from the winter.

So please help me so that I and my family can live and survive this ugly war

Literally cannot emphasize enough that my #1 writing advice is to stop being afraid. Stop being afraid of sounding too cringe, or too stupid, or too horrifying, or too horny, or too weird, or too much, or too little, or too you. You need to put your entire pussy into your art. Sure, it won't be to everyone's tastes, but if you keep yourself to the blandest tamest safest roads possible you will be of no one's tastes, not even yours.
