According to Save the Children "up to 21,000 children are estimated to be missing in the chaos of the war in Gaza, many trapped beneath rubble, detained, buried in unmarked graves, or lost from their families, said Save the Children."
The report breaks the overall number to include at least 4,000 children who are likely trapped under the rubble and presumed dead, 17,000 children who are unaccompanied and separated from their families, with an unknown number that are buried in unmarked mass graves, and others who have been forcibly disappeared by Israeli forces, detained and transferred outside of Gaza.
Children. At least 21,000 missing children in Gaza just since October 2023.
You simply cannot convince anyone that this is what it takes for an entity to "defend itself." Israel is and has always been a terrorist, genocidal state that relies on this kind of violence to sustain its existence as a settler colony.
If youre looking for a way to visibly support Palestine whilst also financially supporting a family-owned Palestinian business, then please consider purchasing a Hirbarwi Keffiyeh.
They are a traditional clothing item for Palestinians, and they have become a symbol of solidarity with Palestine for people all around the world. You do not have to be an Arab or a Muslim in order to wear one. According to the Hirbarwi Mission Statement page: To the world the kufiya will forever be a symbol of liberty. Those who wear it express their desire to see all people, across the world, live peacefully and with self-determination.
They can be warn as a shawl, or a scarf, or a headpiece, or any way you like so long as it is done respectfully. They come in a huge array of colours -- though the one most traditionally known with Palestinian solidarity is the original black and white design.
The Hirbarwi factory is the only original Keffiyeh factory left, and is the only place left in the world that still makes true, Palestinian Keffiyehs. All others -- even the ones that claim to be Palestinian owned/made -- are imitations that have been made in a country like China or India. If they don't have the Hirbarwi logo, then they're fakes.
The factory in Palestine is temporarily unable to ship any new orders, due to both the blockaide and the overall crisis in Gaza, but they are taking pre-orders for later, so you can give them money now and get your delivery once the borders open -- OR, you can purchase through one of their verified international partners, who are listed on their website.
If the stockist in your nearest country is sold out (i know that the Australian stockist is entirely sold out), then check the others. The one listed for Ireland ships internationally and looks like they still have plenty of stock.
yes cowboy your masculinity is perfectly balanced between instinctive and performative now can you please bruce springs-clean your room
absolutely losing my mind that this bit after Joe gets back from the supermarket got cut
even in leftists spaces, between atheism and veganism, it is funny how sometimes people get incredibly aggressive and defensive immediately if they find out a person they're talking to is either of those things, as if another person being something was a personal attack against them. ppl immediately project a whole lot of ideas about atheists and vegans, and a lot of the aggression seems to come from a place of "i saw a vegan/atheist be annoying once! you're saying that i'm doing something wrong! therefore it is okay for me to ridicule and mock you!" however vegans or atheists are not allowed to react similarly when they encounter ppl who eat meat or are religious, because those choices are seen as normal and neutral even though they're just as neutral as being a vegan or an atheist. hot take but i don't think anyone should project anything onto labels like these and i think people getting mad at a vegan or an atheist should ask themselves if they're actually reacting to that particular person being an asshole, or if they just have different values than you which is making you feel insecure and/or self-conscious.
I redrew of one of the panels (or at least part of it) from tales through time
here it is without the speech bubble:
and the original panel:
I revisit this video often and wonder: How successful was I in creating a dichotomy between the hell breaking loose outside the house and a healing atmosphere of fun for the children inside? However, my family members evacuated to dangerous nylon tents and makeshift shelters this time where the outside and the inside are hellish and dangerous. All I can hope for now is to bring them to safety in Egypt because I can not begin to imagine my life without them.
I would rather die before they do. Please consider donating and sharing my story to help them survive.
Fletcher said five trucks of aid went into Gaza yesterday, but described this as a “drop in the ocean” and totally inadequate for the population’s needs. He said the aid lorries, which contain baby food and nutrition, are technically in Gaza but have not reached civilians as they are just on the other side of the border.
(Full update)
Five trucks had entered Gaza for the first time in 3 months. This compares to 500 trucks every day before October 2023. There are miles of loaded trucks that Israel continue to block from entering besieged Gaza.
Make no mistake, Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war against 2 million people.
When I came across this horrific headline, I immediately thought of my friend @amalashournew, who is trapped in Gaza and has been navigating this genocide with her toddler. Thanks to your donations to Amal’s campaign, she has managed to provide for her daughter, but prices of what little food remains in Gaza are now higher than anytime before, which makes this time far more critical for donations and shares than ever before.
Please consider donating and sharing. Despite the magnitude of this genocide, don’t lose hope. Anything helps.
