The 2024 Gender Census is now open!

The 11th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th June 2024.

It’s short and easy, about 5 minutes probably.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful - it’s what helped us get 40,000 responses last year.

unfortunate that the united states has been very successful at controlling narratives around word war 2 and positioning itself as the polar opposite of nazism and the main force fighting fascism when america was complicit in the holocaust. not only did american press report positively about hitler and the nazi party up until the end of the 30′s, some publications cooperated with nazi germany, american companies had investments and connections to nazi germany that they maintained until american involvement in the war, and companies like ibm in particular gave nazis the technology necessary to make the holocaust possible in the first place. some company owners themselves had nazi sympathies like henry ford and others just saw it as a business opportunity. the us denied entry to european jewish refugees and deported jewish refugees back to germany, many senators and other government officials during the 1930s openly supported nazism and worked to prevent the us from taking a side in ww2, and during the 30s large pro nazi rallies were held across the us. american eugenics movement, american race laws and american genocide set the model for the holocaust and there shouldnt be any discussion of nazism and the holocaust without also discussing the extent of american complicity in it.

The fact that Riz Gukgak (the boy who doesn't know how to take a break, who is deeply afraid of drifting apart from his friends, who "has a hard time connecting to his dearest friends unless he can feel useful") was the one who manifested a creature that forced The Bad Kids to work together again and robbed them of having a proper summer break is so poetic.

Y'all, I think that the shonen fandoms I enjoy need to up their hurt/comfort smut game. Like, half of these characters have tried to kill themselves, and the other half have had to pull them from those cliffs with their own bare hands. You're telling me that jokey gratsu fucking is the best you can do? Have you considered the amount of feels you can put into that shit? Gray and Natsu have both lost a ton of people they care about, and now you have the opportunity to write a couple of stupid possessive boys going at it and you're gonna JOKE THE WHOLE TIME?? The fact that I’ve never seen anyone draw Duke Thomas as a cute baby upsets me greatly

A movie scene that has always stuck with me for some reason has always been when a young superman either gained/lost control of his x-ray vision. The panic, the horror, the overwhelm... I dunno, something something sensory overload and autism. You feel me? I relate too much to superman and he wasn't even my favorite hero as a kid. Maturing is getting attached to superman.

AYDA IS GONE FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. FIG HAS TO WRITE AN ENTIRE ASS ABLUM. HANGVAN NEEDING INTENSE RENOVATION AFTER BEING DEALT SO MIUCH DAMAGE. AELWYN AND ADAINE JUST START TO HEAL THEIR RELATIONSHIP AND THEN AELWYN MOVES OUT. GORGUG AND ZELDA BREAKUP. THE PURE FUCKING BURNOUT EVERYONE IS FACING.
