We are on strike. I wish it wasn't happening, wish that the producers would negotiate in good faith, and support the strike 100%.
the new family drama i’m obsessed with has been the saga of my eight year old cousin trying to understand how our uncle is related to our grandpa and not our grandma. the answer is our grandpa cheated on her with a nurse and had our uncle, but NO ONE wants to explain cheating and adultery to an eight year old so they’ve just been telling him to ask someone else. so far it’s gone my mom -> me -> his mom -> his dad and he still is no closer to an answer. we are very quickly running low on knowledgeable adults and i cannot wait to see where he goes if that trail goes dry
since I already reblogged about it here's a less informal, more concise way of putting it:
I wish everyone who is making this week all about Taylor Swift a very nice « shut the fuck up. »
Don’t get me wrong, I love Taylor just as much as the next basic middle class white girl, but I’m also Jewish, and seeing people post incessantly about the Taylor/Kanye beef instead of acknowledging the real problems honestly makes me sick.
Here are the facts: there are 15 million Jews world wide. That’s less than half of Kanye’s Twitter followers. Kanye got suspended from Twitter not for the anti-semitism but for posting an unflattering picture of Elon musk, showing that the man in charge of the worlds most powerful social media platform is fine with hate speech unless it’s against him. AND one of Kanye’s most outspoken supporters, who obviously agrees with his views, is running for president again. Do I think he’ll win? No, but I’m genuinely afraid that if he does, we may be looking at 1939 2: electric boogaloo.
Being Jewish is a great time. It’s also fucking terrifying. Once a century, someone tries to wipe us all off the face of the earth, and this century hasn’t had their try yet. Anyone, Jewish or otherwise, who’s ever read a history book knows that Kanye’s words have real, awful repercussions.
And if you’re making this about some petty shit that happened at the VMAs 13 years ago, then congrats. It’s you, you’re the problem, it’s you.
poor things, well we should definitely make this easier on them by never repeatedly mentioning their name and deeds on the "reblog things forever" website
Charlie Day Luigi: HERES A-MY BROTHER MARIO NOW TO TELL YOU A WHOLE-A HEAPING SPAGHETTI PILE OF INFORMATIONI!!! Chris Pratt Mario: Hello Luigi.
there is something so cool about the prefix dis- in words. dispassionate. disillusioned. disuse. dis- doesnt just mean an absence, it means the essence of the word has been leeched out. your passion has been sucked dry. your blissful ignorance has been torn away. the object is forgotten somewhere knowing the joy of being loved and used and the shame of becoming unneeded even more so.

Working in a custoner service job is an incredibly easy way to get dehumanized to other people btw.
A memo I posted for my production company yesterday that is also a personal statement.
I love the HP series. It genuinely saved my life as a child with depression. I took important lessons from it about standing up for what is right, no matter what, and it helped me grow into the person that I am today, but we can do better. Part of growing up means taking a critical eye to our childhood lessons and sometimes, such as with the Potter series, we will find other, more harmful lessons embedded with the good.
My friends are more important to me than any fantasy world. We can create a real world full of magic, love, & community right here. But that means not tolerating or supporting hate. We deserve fantasy worlds that are community building, not community excluding.
I encourage all my friends who love the Potterverse to pour your money and fandom time into other worlds. I've got recommendations too! Try the So You Want to Be a Wizard series by Dianne Duane or any of the Tortal universe books by Tamora Pierce. I'm also enjoying Linden A Lewis' (very queer) First Sister series.
It's time to let this one go.
